Solo Female Travel: Hiking and Biking in China’s Four Sisters Mountains

  • This summer I ventured off solo and explored Xiao Jin County in Western Sichuan by bike. I spent a few days in the small, developing town of SiGuNiang Shan and hiked 26km along Hai Zi valley, where I saw stunning views of the Four Sisters peaks.
The Four Sisters are the biggest mountains in Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture. At 200km from Chengdu with peaks over 6000m, they are the closest high mountains to a major megacity in China.
This makes them an appealing location for mountain adventure tourism, which has transformed the area. The government is using tourism programs to alleviate rural poverty, and as an incentive to protect local ecosystems. I hope this video gives a flavour of how culture and work practices are changing with the times.

Thank you for sharing this experience! I actually plan to solo hike the valleys in Siguaniang next month. I wonder if it is possible without knowledge of Chinese?

I'm also planning to go to Siguniang recently. I was told that every traveler must hire a guide to ensure safety when going to ChangPingGou. Is this true?

    • @dogmatictales

Hi! No, you don't require a guide to visit the valleys. It is very easy to follow the trail. However, if you want to camp in the national park you have to have a guide and you need to pay a camping fee. Hope you have fun there!

Your vlogs are always incredible 🏆You both so deserve 100,000+ subscribers. The Name/Title is the Game when it comes to books or media. 💡 If you called your wonderful channel something like - China's Exotic Adventures- you would get start getting more and more views and subscribers.
Ps...I had lost track of your fantastic so unique channel ☹️ and it took me a long time to find it because Dogmatic doesn't connect at all to travel or to China. When you change your name you can just use this channel to direct people to that channel and also via your Instagram. I'm a bit of an expert in this field and you deserve so much success. Please consider it. Wishing you all the best ☯️ 🌺
