yep it was a long bolt but i wanted to put this shift knob on lol
Before you decide to do this, consider the following. Imagine a wrench falling on that lever or an unaware, unwitting boob walks past your hoist, while you’re lowering your 12 valve into your truck, and accidentally turn the knob, people could die. Not trying to be a party pooper, but that’s probably why it doesn’t have a lever like that. Roast me if you want, I’d never do it. It’s just waiting for the perfect storm.

Tack a washer half way up the cylinder and put a bungie on it. Problem solved.
I used the handle off an old hose bib, it's round and easily used with one hand but not easily bumped/kicked/leaned on. best of both worlds

Well, you can definitely move it slower than I was lol, the lever on there you have much more resolution to do things gently

I made one from steel. Because I had a lathe, before I had a 3d printer.
I'm going to use an old Honda shifter. So my hoist can crack VTEC.

My uncle did this to ours and I've always wondered why other people didn't modify theirs like this. I see so many videos of people installing engines and drop it way too fast. I've wanted to make a video about it but guess I dont have to now. Lol

Probably like it is because a lever can be easily caught or pushed against by accident and drop the load causing an accident or damage or both. Thats the danger with your solution.
I welded a nut so I can use a 9/16 or 14mm wrench

amateur hour over here. cut your wire directly on the ground clamp. much cleaner cut than cutting it on the welding surface.
