  • If you accidentally leave the cylinder exposed to the elements the rust. Rust and hydraulic cylinders don’t mix. In this video we pull one of these harbor freight cylinders apart and polish it up put it back together and re-add the hydraulic fluid. In the end it works real nice.

That's the Piston, the cylinder is the Pipe thingy. You know what's fun? It's when the wet/dry wraps around the part you're sanding and your thumb gets stuck in the whole thing - Owch. So if you do it again sand at higher speed and WD40, wrap your paper around a paint mixing stick and you won't lose control

Theres a picture I remember seeing years ago of a guys head the was obliterated because his clothes got caught on a lathe and his head was pulled through a 3 inch gap between the lathe and the spinning shaft. Good picture to put on every lathe so people stay cautious.

Great job. How about repairing the mini pump cylinder on the bottom? Seems like it should be the same process however mine isn't working. I wonder if the smaller external BORE can be refurbished?

It’s really helpful that you have extra hands. Do you have trouble getting shirts with 4 arms.

The upper end of the rod is only contacted by a seal to keep external fluids or debris out of the reservoir, it has no impact on the operation, and it is not the cylinder it’s the rod, the cylinder is the internal pipe threaded to the base, the piston is the round bushing at the bottom of the rod, the outer bottle shaped housing is the tank or reservoir.

I'm confused why you didn't replace the cap seal or use jack oil which is thinner.

Why didn't you show it working? Is it because you never miked it to know what the O.D. was to begin with? And you can only take off soo much material before you have to get a oversized seal kit for it to operate properly.

AWESOME example of WHAT NOT TO DO EVER W/ANY KIND OF MACHINERY !!!
And if need explanation, then you have ABSOLUTELY NO BUSINESS WORKING W/ANY KIND OF MACHINERY !
Only “men” know what I’m talking about.
These are obviously little kids who are playing w/Dads or Grandfathers machinery ! Again, these kind of amateur “wanna-be’s” WILL get “BIT” someday VERY soon w/the way they’re carrying on & learn a valuable lesson about safety over & above trying to be someone or something you’re not !
