  • I get a lot of questions about the future of the pharmacy profession. How is the job market? Is it really as saturated as people claim? Is there any growth? What are the job prospects like in the United States?
Today's video will hopefully help answer those questions! I will go over the most recent Pharmacy Demand Report (PDR) 2023 3rd quarter report with you in this video and give you my thoughts!
This video is meant for educational purposes and to provide some insight.

Hi! Thank your for watching my videos! I wish I had a definitive answer for you, but I don't. Each state is so different in the way they practice! You can review the Pharmacy Demand Report and see which state has a high number of hospital jobs with a low total licensed pharmacists - more hospital jobs and less competition!

Hi I am a pharmacist for 10+ years working in the Boston area. Residency acceptance rates are limited. Major cities offer more programs but have more applications due to more universities nearby, better pay, and a more desirable location. In more rural hospitals you will have a greater acceptance rate but not job availability. Major cities are more residency heavy while minor locations are pretty much okay hiring with just a pharmD. I'm not sure what you want to do in pharmacy and how much IV experience you have. What this video and that report don't really take into account is pharmacist supply. In the early 2000s there where only about 80 schools of pharmacy then a major boom happened around 2005. Now 140+ and growing. Also I'm not sure what your work/life is like in Pakistan but as a new hire be prepared to be working nights/weekends/holidays. Always feeling guilty to call out of work. (Less in hospital). I've seen so many foreign pharmacist/interns/residents buy flights and what not for holidays and be surprised they have to work.

Hi! Sorry I am not sure of the process for foreigners. However in my most recent vlog, there is a viewer in the comments that is familiar with the process! Perhaps you can talk to each other in the comments ☺️

We were trained in pharmacy school to use it, but we don’t really use it in practice! I have one, but never had to use it as a pharmacist before haha
