The soap sticks to the wasps wings and stops them from flying around. And since wasps (and other flying stinging critters) breathe through their body, the soapy water also suffocates them. They might crawl around on the ground for a bit, but they'll die soon enough. The soapier the mixture the better it is. I use the cheap store brand "dawn" and keep a sprayer with the soapy water in it on the carport during the spring and summer months
Great to know
Thanks for the fireworks display haven't seen fireworks in a few years. Glad no one got hurt in the mishap.
Thanks for watching
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing. Glad you are ok😊
Dawn, water and rubbing alcohol. Best bug spray and window cleaner
Nice
Those mortars are scary powerful! Glad nobody was hurt my friend. I've had something similar happen before, so a few years ago, I started using dynamite cord. They sell different burn times by the foot. I'm still contemplating buying an inexpensive launching system. It would be nice sitting back and enjoy the show with everyone else. I hope you all had a great 4th my friend!
I've been telling myself to get that cannon fuse and build a one light set up. It would be nice to sit back and watch a show with everyone.
Love the new ice machine! Can't wait to see the video on dish soap mix for killing wasp.
You always have to respect things that go boom.. nice show and glad nobody got hurt.
Video out later today.
I’ve had one of those heavy duty tubes blow out the bottom. Found the tube the next day about 80ft away. I wish I could post a picture. Crazy how much power those have

@@garrettdrilling1371 they are quite powerful!
Happy 4th of July. Glad no one was hurt
Thank you for watching
That soap and water trick is awesome. Cant believe how many you had around the house
We get wasps bad here in Florida. They are in the barns, equipment ect.
When folks recommend using dawn dishwashing liquid to kill wasps they really aren't saying to use a garden sprayer. Usually one would put a generous amount of Dawn in a bowl with some water and then throw it on the wasp nest. I realize your nests are very high but generally what I am saying is how most people in the South do it with Dawn and wasps. You do it that way and it will fry them. They will hit the ground stiff!
I prefer the tank sprayer, works very well for me.
Yup! Goes to show that you have to make sure the mortar tubes are completely cool with no sparks in them, before reusing. Also limit reuse to just a few times, and maybe even surround your mortar bank with a steel box or damp sandbags at least as high as your mortar tubes, with some damp sand loose around the bases to snuff sparks quicker. Otherwise, sure loved your display! Great tip on the wasp getter!
I'm thinking buried in sand will be a good option.
Happy 4th!
Fountain fireworks are my favorite!
I'm a big boom type of person.
@@TKCL chuckle! That doesn’t surprise me! For sure tho, fountains are lots safer!
What the soap does to
The bees it takes a coating of oil off their wings. And if you were to use pins-sol around your deck, it keeps flies away.
Thanks
Good stuff! Glad you didnt lose and limbs. Ive been looking at getting the Vevor fridge for the shop.
I'm glad I didn't either, it was an interesting experience 😬
On that Dawn dish soap use one small bottle of dawn, dish soap for 1 gallon of water
No need for anywhere near that much I found out.
@@TKCL that’s what we use for around the chicken houses them bottles are cheap at dollar tree
Thanks for the fireworks I can watch them on the computer but when they are just outside my window that is when my PTSD flares up. Whats really scary is when an actual mortar tube blows up just a few feet away.
I get it, hate that you are deal with that.
I hope that was blue Dawn. 😂😂 he said dish soap. The video I saw said blue Dawn and that’s all I’ve ever used. They usually don’t walk around that much. They usually just sort of lay there and twitch and are pretty much dead. 😂 I’d add a little more soap. They’re kind of screwing around a bit more than I’d like. But it looks like whatever you’re using works.
When I lived in the woods, we had them everywhere and I made 2 gallons of stuff at a time.
You’re right though, it would’ve made a pretty funny video if it didn’t work😂😂
Thanks for the suggestion, it worked very well.
Foam cannon on a water hose works great. Foam, volume, and low pressure, as long as you're ok soaking the area with soap. When I was a kid my dad would just beat a metal pipe into the ground and launch mortar from it on the 4th. If you get thick wall stuff it should be fine even if something fails to launch. all the pressure goes out the open end.
I might look into the metal pipe, thanks.
Great video as always. Happy Fourth of July 🇺🇸 God bless y’all
Thanks for watching, God bless!
@TKCL, For bug killer, Amazon also carry Bug-A- Salt for shooting salt on bugs to kill them. Very nice ice maker. Nice 4th celebration. Maybe build a steel tube that go over the launcher tube for added safety.
I've seen that salt shooter, pretty cool.
I have killed about a thousand wasps, in the last week, with the foam spray. It looks like that works better. I did get stung on Tuesday. You are definitely an inspiration, I am interested in everything y'all do. Thanks
Glad you enjoy the content
Look at getting an Ignite firing system for the fireworks. I use them and lit 36 fireworks with one push of a button from my phone. I programmed the show to be 7 minutes and it took me maybe 30 minutes to do. They have a website that helps and is super simple. I wasn't near any fireworks while they were going off and I had several finale 3" tube racks blow apart but didn't know it until I went down to check on the fireworks after the show. So very safe. Glad you had a good 4th of July and love to support the channel!
I'd love to have a setup like that
30 minute setup? Stop the cap.
Andrew... Make super sure that you keep the fireworks dry, dry, dry!!! This humidity down here will really mess with the fireworks... I get what you were thinking with the table set up... but I would strongly suggest putting that on the ground and putting sand around the tubes, to absorb any furure mishaps... 🎉
I plan on building a blast shield for next time.
Shot 1000s of those same mortars and never had any to do that wow .. I get the high definition ones . Glad you all are ok ,, Sounds like y’all had fun ..
We had a great time!
You need to finish your house. By that I mean the underside of your porch. Close that area off so wasps don’t have a place to build as easy. Heck you might want to insulate it to reduce the heat transfer radiating down. Also a shade cover you can roll down to block some of the sun in the afternoon. Did you happen to put the mortar upside down by accident? That would definitely cause the tube to explode. Glad you’re all ok. FW looked great. The soap trick for wasps it very cool. Looking forward to that video. I was amazed as you were on how well that worked. Now you need to write a book on tips & trick you have learn or know since being full time on your homestead.
I only have to do this once a year. Hard to justify all the work and expense to close it up no more than it bothers us.
As for the upside down mortar, I don't believe so. I put them all in by hanging them from the fuse so that can't happen. If you put them in upside down the fuse doesn't appear to be long enough to stick out either.
Soap and water works great but if u add peppermint oil to the solution it will keep them from reusing the nest. Especially if the nest is in a crack where u can't knock it down
Thanks
we have a home made metal table with outward angled metal sides so if this happens it projects everything up and away from us launching it. Picture putting a flat base inside one of your cut open propane tanks like the new large cooker you made, morter tube mounted inside there and if it explodes in the tube everything is sent up and out not out to the sides where your standing.
I do plan to build a blast shield.
I usually have those after wing night
great fireworks happy 4th to everyone🎉 🎉 🎉 🎉
I really like your new ice maker, that one should sure do the job when you have guests over for sure. V Vore has a bit of everything not bad quality and the right price. Happy 4th of July. 👍👍❤️❤️🇨🇦
It's been working great!
Shane = Hero!
Glad the explosion did not do more damage or harm!
Me too
You can never utilize too much safety with fireworks - always expect the unexpected. Very nice ice machine Vevor sent you...that'll be great! Glad you had a safe and wonderful 4th.
You got that right!
Thanks for sharing. I didn't get to see any fireworks this year.
Thanks for watching
You should try getting a couple cans of brake clean and see what it does to the wasps. Best part is it evaporates so no staining.
I'm enjoying the soap spray because I can spray it about 12ft away from the nest.
Good day to all.
Good morning
Looks like you'll need full protection gear for future celebrations! How did the dogs cope with it all? Looking forward to the wasp spraying episode. Thanks Shane:)))) Eviva Vevor, lol
Bullet hates loud noises, Ruger loves it. He was running around so excited.
I'd jump in line for the old ice maker if the shipping costs wouldn't do me in. Glad everyone is safe and had a great time.
I use Dawn dish soap, works great
It's amazing!
I use a hose with a jet nozzle on it
I would have never known had you not told us. Glad everyone is ok. But Awesome show. Even I enjoyed it and everybody was just a hollering. Thanks for sharing. 🎉
Thanks for watching
Wow, Andrew and Tiffany! Those pressure washers are beasts. They made quick work of your porch. It looks amazing. I love watching pressure washing on CZcams. Your fireworks were amazing. You guys know how to work hard, but you also know how to play hard.
We sure do!
Looks like you had a great 4th. So glad no one got hurt when those exploded and glad the ice maker did such a good job for you....until next time...have a great rest of the week.
Thanks for watching
Thank you for the fireworks.
Thank you for watching
That protective covering on stainless steel is a royal pain to peal off. That’s a nice ice machine.
Yes it is
For next year, invest in some hdpe mortar tubes and build some wooden racks. Plenty of places to buy them Pyroboom being one. Plenty of plans online to build racks. Also investing in a cheap remote firing system keeps you at a safe distance in the event an incident like that occurs.
I would like to do that.
I take those good thick black tubes and mount them on a board with base 25 degree +/- angle on them. That way it shoots out and you don't wreck your neck looking at them. A little safer to light also. Then save it for next year!!
I'll be building something myself.
wow! I didnt know Dawn would work on wasps.....I did know it works on squash bugs....all that cash I have spent on wasp spray....great news!
Sure did work great
Andrew so glad no one was injured when a couple of your mortars went rogue. I knew when I was watching your video that something didn’t look right. Also, I hope you will divulge the mixture you used to kill all of the wasp. Take care..
I had several that didn't work as planned.
Wasp graveyard is crazy 😂
Project for next year: Launch platform with blast shield! Great video!
That's exactly what I have planned 😉
I was thinking the same thing...
Glad you didn't get hurt, a tip for the future, I put my launchers inside a 5 gallon bucket filled with sand just for that reason... It was fun watching your show...
That's a really good idea! Thanks!
Need to know your trick with Ruger not running away from everything. My lab is completely chickens**t of rain, fire works and gun fire. If he was at your house during fireworks he would have probably ran deep into the woods to get away. Over here during the mentioned events he runs into the bathroom shaking. Very sad for the lab breed. I think i got a lemon or runt..lol
Our other dog is like that. The trick with Ruger was I started exposing him to loud noises as a puppy. I started with a random 22 shot and then moved up to a 410. I always acted excited when the noises went off and made a game of it with him. Now he loves when he hears loud noises, he's always looking for something dead lol.
@@TKCL yeah i should have approached my dog like that from the start. I think its too late 3 years old now
Wow! Dish soap! Who would have thought it worked? In desperation I have used stale gasoline for ground nests. Not exactly safe, but it was well established, and I needed something with potency and penetrating power.
Yellow jackets are on another level. I'd be using something like fire myself.
You ought to have firewood chopping contests at your get-togethers. 😂
LOL
Soapy water is what they use to kill a HOT bee hive.
Call MDS in it and they aint learning. You're singing yet.I knew about that long time ago
Soap $ water !!!!
I did roughly 6 tablespoons of soap per gallon of water.
I am thinking about getting that ice maker. But we have well water and I’m concerned our well water might be an issue. What water filter do you have on the house? Just a whole house filter?
I have well water also. I use a basic woven filter on the house due to clay silt. Big key is to use the ice maker filter and clean out the unit every so often. If you decide to order it, use the link AND discount code in the description. Also sign up with your email for an additional discount. Ours has been working perfectly for over two weeks now in crazy high temperatures.
hahaha even the icemaker says POO
LOL
@@TKCL im sorry but i had to i had to rewind to see if i was seeing something, and i had to laugh! glad no one got hurt them suckers are nasty when they blow up!
Do you think you might have put those mortars in the tube upside down? Knock wood, I’ve never had one do that, but have had some low breaks.
No because I put them in by grabbing the end of the fuse and lowering them down. I also don't believe the fuse would be long enough if we put them in upside down.
No whisker visits fire damon's
In (16:13) Did you not get your porch Sealed with Concrete sealer?? I am asking because of how easy it looks to stain the concrete. I do know it has to be reapplied every so many years if its outdoors or out in the elements. Radon Seal makes a bunch of them i don't know what would be right for your scenario but it might be something to think about..
Not going to seal now due to pesky stains. I would need to completely strip the concrete with acid first.
What's the concoction????? For thr wasps!!!!
2 tbs of soap per small squirt bottle. I added 6+ for my gallon sprayer
I used to work for a pressure washer manufacturer. You do NOT need more than 3000 psi. You will do more damage with anything greater than 3000 psi in the blink of an eye. You go over 3000 psi & then you're talking steel toe boots because that pressure will cut your toes off. And anything >3000 psi requires full face protection. Believe me, I know what I'm talking about.
Yep. GPM is more important. The pros use a 8 or 10 GPM machine, fed by a 200-500 gallon external water tank. Typical machine from the big box store is only going to be 2 to 4 GPM. Good enough for the average home owner, but a 8 GPM machine really speeds up the job and allows you to run a much larger surface cleaner.
We only get snake's and sparklers over here 😕
That's typical California. But you also have a crazy high fire risk.
@@TKCL 😭😭😭😭
YEAH BABE
Merica' 🇺🇸💪
It also works great for ants.
I just tried that.
@@TKCL did it work for you?
@@frankcarrerejr yes I showed it in a video a few days ago. Killed them within seconds, love it.
Do you still use your Ice maker freezer?
Every single day, we go through a lot of ice.
I didn't know you were a pyro. I guess it doesn't surprise me though. 😂
I LOVE blowing stuff up and burning things.
@@TKCL Yeah, me too! 😊
I’ve seen people blow up fingers
Must be nice to have the good stuff 😒
Sorry buddy
cash you have your own channel make some content bud! then you can have the good stuff unless California dont allow the good stuff!
@@AdamDeal-KF0PRI LoL no they don't allow anything good 😒
@@5150cash no offense but they suck
@@AdamDeal-KF0PRI yes 😭😭😭
It's 115 here today. Yesterday was horrible because of all the illegal fireworks going off in my neighborhood.
I can totally understand your state does not need fireworks. A major fire risk for you all.
Some idiot set off illegal fireworks near my granddaughter's house & set her yard on fire at 1 in the morning. Firemen were able to put out the fire quickly so her house was saved. It was really scary for them.
