I think the US paper industry has been in turmoil for many years now. The seeds of Globalization that were planted back in the very early 90’s are now maturing and Americans are paying a heavy price for shipping manufacturing and other jobs off shore. I call it the Walmart effect. Prior to 1992 before Sam Walton died, he pushed the Made in American theme in his stores. Not long after his passing, the company began to become a major importer of foreign products. And the tide has never changed from that direction.
My dad always told me their's no loyalty in big businesses. You said it well Andrew, it's nothing like the world we grew up in not too many years ago. I send this prayer. The light can not be seen first without darkness. Those that believe will always overcome the later. Amen.
Prayers to everyone in Perry, one of my friends is having his trees cut tomorrow and thankfully the tree guy is honoring his contract. He was taking the pulp wood to that exact mill and already has a few trucks in the line with no one to process them. It really is a sad situation.
So sad....🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Thoughts and prayers go out to everybody that made that lumber mill run as a community and to all the people that put their time and life into that place
Brother Kelly - you know that I am a Retired Banker. GP is in our community here too (Muskogee Oklahoma) - a very large employer with excellent Salaries & Benefits. The lay-offs are coming for us too. Look to the current "President", and the Democrats in Congress - for all of this financial pain. They are NOT Business Friendly, nor have they ever been. They have become Socialists. This happens every time they get Policy Control of the Country. And that is the Truth.
Agreed. Based upon what I am seeing on CZcams, I am hopeful that a great number of the blacks in America are waking up to this. If this occurs, we have a chance to restore policies that lead to Prosperity and Freedom. Say your prayers Brother - we are on the edge.
Good evening. Im a truck driver, 8day/ 70 hr logbook. 5 14s equals 70. I haul propane. Corporate sold their Transportation llc. 68 no's. Keep grinding found my new job by chance. If you're looking for a job, it might not be your top 50, but providing for the family out weighs the not liking part. You'll miss out on things but keeping a roof over the heads, food in bellies, clothing yada yada out weighs i don't like, won't do it. Food for thought. Class A with tanker, hazmat and doubles/ triples also a TWIC Card. You'd be amazed how the door shutting gets wedged open because of the endorsements. Good luck everybody. Hi, Andrew! I feel so bad for your community. You’re so blessed to have built your channel before this happened. Prayers for all the families who are impacted.
Andrew, My thought and prayer for all impacted. In addition, too much outsourcing to China and other countries. Trying to break the back of the American worker.
I feel for those that are facing the loss of there jobs. Here in South Alabama we have face the same issues. 23 years ago SAPPI Paper company shut down the plant in Mobile that I had been employed with for 26 years. The plant was previously owned by Scott Paper. It was devastating news at the time but God has provided for the community and its people. It was hard to see all your hard work go away in a heart beat but life goes on. Looking back I can honestly say that my life improved after the shut down. The future of these men and women that have lost their livelihood is up to them. My thoughts and prayers go out to them. They can and they will make a better life for themselves and their family’s. It’s hard but with God at your side nothing is impossible.
We wish them well and hope they find suitable employment. When such a big employer in the area shuts down, it hurts everyone in the community far more than that company could ever know. Bless you, Andrew
@@TKCLmy heart breaks for those in your community. Warren Buffett said several days ago that the House market is a storm is brewing. I believe he's see a large recession coming bc Berkshire Hathaway is stock piling $145+ billion in cash.
I feel yours and your neighbor's pain. I am a truck driver and watching Yellow trucking shut down. A lot of truck drivers, mechanics, office, warehouse workers, etc. Losing not just their job's, but future too. My wife and I have been planning for years to move from southwest Florida to north Florida. High interest rates, high inflation and uncertainty is delaying our move and retirement. You're right, you need a back up plan to your backup plan.
I am up in Maine. The biggest private employer are paper mills. 50% of the mills have closed in the last 8 years. I know many people that used to drive 5 miles to their mill but now are driving over 50 miles [some are driving over 65 miles] to work at the next open mill.
Chances are good that the larger mill bought out the smaller one or merged with them in order to raid a healthy pension fund. That problem created a closet industry like Bain Capital and the resulting crash in middle sized towns caused real misery to thousands of families while making a few folks multimillionaires. No well run government should tolerate merging that wrecks local economies. It’s the same thing with outsourcing jobs overseas to maximize profits.
Wow... Folks like you and your channel can definitely play a role in helping others there to become more self sufficient and start creating "back ups for their back ups!" Communities like yours (I grew up in one up in Michigan) stick together in tough times, and I know you all will too. Sometimes it takes things like this to shake us to our foundations and realize we've been putting all our eggs in someone else's basket. Time to get back to basics, cut back on unnecessary consumerism and focus on living close to one another and the earth for what we need vs what we want, the corporations be damned! Keeping your community in our prayers. 🙏
I really hear you on this topic .. Protectionism is not a bad thing, especially when it protects Community and bread & butter Economy .. Most of the world's oldest societies ( India, Japan, France, etc) Vigilantly lockout to sustain the occupations of their citizens, as well as their Culture.
Same thing happened to me and my last name is Kelley! The mill was Augusta Newsprint north of you in Georgia. I left 5 years before they shut it down. I went into a similar business.
I watched the same. My Father worked for the woodlands division of International Paper Company in Panama City. Lived through the sale of the southeastern division to Southwest Forest Industries, then Stone Container, then Smurfit, and finally last year, total shut down. The city and families were devastated.
And now IP has spun off their entire printing paper business as Sylvamo. As an employee of a paper buyer, we have not enjoyed this change. They forced us to use other suppliers.
Andrew I worked for a large trucking company for almost 20 years and in 1989 it closed the doors and we were all devastated . Life goes on but it was a hard pill to swallow. My heart goes out to all the people affected by the closing of your paper mill closing. God Bless
Praying for our little town, and community. It's a sad situation! Like you said, it's much more than just people losing their jobs, which is bad enough. The shock wave will be felt in the whole area. Prayers are needed for us all. God Bless
Terribly sad for so many people for the entire community. I do hope your friends and family extended family are able to weather but another of life’s storms. Good luck to you all 🙏
Sorry to hear about that company:( When the Campfire happened we have had so much life changing things like being dropped off by your insurance and you only have one insurance you can have and it went up incredibly high :( Then to have so many businesses that have never come back and so our community has been in so much pain and the with the economy where it’s at it’s been soooo hard for us for the last 5 years and it’s not getting any better:(,We are a very small community like you and with one hardship it has a ripple effect. I can say we are stronger now and your community is going to get stronger too. God bless:)
Happened to an airline contract company I was working for. I was there for 3 years making good money. An opportunity came where I got on with a major airline and tried getting some of my coworkers to come with me. A paycut was required but only for a few years than the raises were worth it in the long run. That company ended up folding due to poor management leading to unhappy airlines not renewing the contracts. Best decision I ever made
It's not "doom n gloom"... It's reality... The town that housed the mill my dad worked in basically collapsed in the early 90's when most of the work went overseas. My heart goes out to your community 💙🙏💙 because I know what it did to my home community.
The situation you refer to here has always been a problem for mid sized towns that rely on one businesses prosperity to keep their towns economy going. It’s a bad thing for rural communities with small towns because larger employers seldom relocate to those areas. Kids leaving school don’t stay where they were raised because of a lack of good jobs. They do tend to return to their roots when they retire because that’s where family is and it’s a more affordable place to retire with lower taxes etc.. I speak from experience. I grew up in small town Kansas, spent time in the military and worked at a good paying job until I retired. Then I came back to the area of my roots. It can be a problem exaggerated by economic issues like inflation but just as often not. Inflation is usually a relatively short term problem unless it’s caused by a long term issue as when our economy ran amok over the entire decade of the roaring 20’s followed by the great depression of the 30’s.
I agree with you Andrew. We are retired and on a "fixed" income, one of my prescriptions I got in June was $17.00, three months later it is now $75.00. I am thankful that we can still afford it for now, but if it keeps going up, well it will be one I will have to do without. Praying for your community.
Georgia-Pacific closed the lumber mill in my home town of Fort Bragg, CA in 2002. GP was bought out by Koch Industries in 2005. Koch's business model is to squeeze the last dime they can from operations and then sell off the remaining assets. The fishing industry here is barely surviving due to declining fish populations. The main things that still bring money in to town are tourism, retired folks, tele-commuters and the local craft brewery. (Pot growing is probably just a tiny fraction of what it was 20 years ago.) Good luck and thanks for the video Andrew!
One of our largest exports in the Country is recyclable cardboard- when the container ships unload all the cheap overseas goods, those containers refill with packaging- gotta change this, make the effort to buy American! ( Milwaukee is making pliers and other hand tools here again- YES!
Same where I live we have had several big businesses close recently, But don't worry the politicians say there is no recession, and unemployment numbers are down.
Be Prepared Backups for your Backups is the next TKCL shirt . It’s sad we are seeing all of that here in NC as well . Me and my wife Save and save to get prepared. Now I know it’s time . Heart felt video Andrew 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I just moved to Perry. I thought you were around here somewhere. My neighbor retired from there too. That’s going to hurt the area so much. That’s too bad. Great content. Thanks.
Yes I know what you are saying. I work at a paper mill that’s been in business since 1864. They sold twice since 2018. It makes you wonder how long paper n pulp mills will last. God bless the people in your community that they find other jobs. Thanks for the great video
Prayers to the people of Perry. I work for a major telecom corporation that has been cutting jobs for the last 20 years. Having a backup plan has been in my mind at least that long or longer. That stress drove me to finally get debt free about 10 years ago. It was not easy. Working hard and living as simply as possible with no debt has given me piece of mind. My brother works for GA Pacific at a paper mill. He complains that they can’t get young people to work anymore. They keep quitting, forcing him to work more hours.
God bless everyone in that community kept your spirit up help each other when you can people think all this money Biden give for free it's not for free we are all paying for it now we have to change the government it is so corrupt it's not funny so everyone pray that God steps in and changes thing again God bless everyone in that community and around the world
Hello Andrew. Thanks for sharing your video. I'm terribly sorry for the loss your community has gone through. Our economy here has suffered as well. I see all this as a sign of the end times. I have been a Christian for many years and read my Bible every day. As Jesus once said "In this World you will have trouble. But be of good cheer because I have overcome the World." I hope you are a Christian brother as well, but I really don't know. If not, I pray that you receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior soon, because my friend our days are numbered. Take care and God Bless.
This is life and has been going on forever. Started out at GE in a midwest city. Father worked there and uncle worked there. Over 10,000 employees. Left city completely 10 years ago. Feel bad for the people but to blame politicians is nonsense. Big bucks for companies are to blame.
Main focus is make sure you are right with God. Fully lean on Him - Proverbs 3:5,6 -- sad for all those people who have now lost their jobs. Praying for them. Up here in "the north," our dear PM is aiming to now tax ALL our groceries. Oh the joys - but our trust remains in God, not in our finances. We sure are canning a lot these days - doing our part. Praying for you.
So sad. Prayers. Representative of town should had put fillers out for other business to come in. Someone not doing there job. Thanks for sharing. Those poor people many prayers.
I use to work GP and got hurt on the job. They didn't pay for my medical and since it was a small injury, I never went back. Best thing ever as I got a better paying job and that site got shut down a couple years later.
I just read this the other day. Praying for the entire community from here in Newberry, FL. I think MANY of us Americans share the same concern in having that gut feeling tough times are coming.
I hear ya' and I will be praying for your community. My community has survived a very similar chain of events. It began in the 70s with the Spotted Owl. But by the 90's (some sooner) Boise Cascade closed mills- one by one devistating many communities just like you are telling us about in your area. Logging WAS a mainstay industry for Idaho. Not as much anymore and most have moved on to other careers. These are difficult times so get your heart right with the maker and be ready for A N Y T H I N G!
Very sad! As a central east coast Fl. man. I always planned on moving to your general area around retirement age. I always knew the lumber/pulp mills was basically the really on "good" jobs around. Godspeed to everyone involved!
We don't live that far from you. The closing will probably impact our community also. Your discussion on preparedness is so important. We can prepare for ANY life changing event. Thank you for sharing.
Andrew, only God can provide true and lasting peace in these crazy times. It's my prayer that all affected lean on God to guide them to their next chapter in life. I've heard that new federal regulations are affecting many industries, including forestry. Limiting trees that can be cut down. Lumber will become more scarce and some say food will be scarce soon due to those reg's. It's going to be difficult times ahead. WEF is even becoming more public about reducing world's population by 50%. What happens in 2024 will determine if the Republic will be salvageable. I try to remember, Earth is not my home. Just a temporary residence. Whatever happens, God wins!
Sorry to hear about your local GP mill closing. BUT this has happened not only in your area but across the country, for decades. Consolidation/ buyouts of companies, because of the goal to make more money vs loss of money through poor management possibly. Prayers to those people who is directly affected. God will hopefully provide new opportunities. 2008 was my experience in losing the major portion of my personal finances. Lost about 3/4 of our nest egg. Then health issues have compounded the recovery ever since then. Everyone has their story to tell but bottom line is that we just celebrated our 47 th anniversary. God has blessed me with a wonderful soulmate. Be Safe and God Bless you guys.
Very sad day indeed~ I was raised in small town America and fully relate to the camaraderie and the big family feel that comes with it. I miss it a lot. Like you said though, these people are tough and most likely just as perseverant. Survival instinct kicks in and they will find a way to work through these tough times, wishing your community the best.
I know how your community feels. 10 years ago I worked at a oil company that a year after the third buyout. They closed the door on a company that was in business for 30 years.
Maybe everybody that lost their jobs can come together and start a business together. Pool funds somehow, and help each other in the process. Must be some way. Prayers going up that the community can come together for each other, and become stronger for it.
😮😮Ohhh my... that is definitely devastating to everyone in that area... The ripples will roll down to so many businesses... Ohh, this is heart breaking... over 500 direct jobs lost.😢.. I sure hope that someone else can come in there and at least get a part of the mill back going...
Small towns are really gonna be hit hard, without that money buying goods in the community. Our 4 big dairies closed down in our rural area and many people had to move to other countys , because their residences were tied to their jobs.
Diversify... Diversify... Diversify!!! VERY FEW people have the means to truly be self sufficient (food, water, survival necessities) Lean on each other!
Sorry to hear that, Andrew 🙏 Things have been very weird the last few years. Hoping for the best for us all. We must Unite, build & heal in multiple small communities all over the world ASAP.
Sign of the times. they also close Georgia-Pacific's Day Street Mill in Green Bay closes Friday. They've been making paper products in the city for 122 years
Love the realism. Just keep being you. The worst is yet to come. But it's reality. You should do a weekly shout out to small channels to help. Your going to grow quickly in the coming yr. Your getting better n better. It's fun for us to watch. Thanks again
Wise words from a wise man. Your compassion shows through, and you should be commended for imploring everyone to stay encouraged. Thank you for what you do.
I'm so sorry for your community. I was raised and raised my family in Muncie Indiana. In a matter of a few years it went from a strong economy to one in dire need. In the course of a few years Warner Gear, Muncie transmission, Westinghouse as well as others shut down. They took with them many support business including tool and die shops. The loss of hundreds, if not thousands of "blue collar" jobs was devastating.
Sad story. Practically identical story of a town near me, Espanola, Ontario, Canada. Pulp mill closing (temporary, for a year), and about 500 jobs lost. It's been there "forever" and is the towns, paper town, major employer. The town may survive but many people will have to pack up and leave since like you said, there just are not other jobs there. Hope it's true that it's only for a year!!
So sorry for your community. Praying for all involved and has lost there means of income. Back to back blows with the hurricane and now this man. Keep pushing Perry!🙏
That's not what's actually made at a paper mill, it's pulp. It's used in clothes, tires, tvs, filters, medicine, makeup, food casings ect. The list goes on and on, it's a very commonly used product.
I hate that for all those friends/families of your community. Prayers for all of them. Keep the hard work/resilient attitude and faith that the good Lord knows what he is doing and everything happens for a reason. Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% what you choose to do about those situations. Keep the faith. God Bless!
My heart bleeds for that whole area of N FL. I know how important that mill was to so many in that community! It reminds me so much of that Ronnie Dunn song “Cost of Livin”. Such a devastating blow to an already hurting area. Praying for everyone affected by this! 🙏🙏
Man, that is terrible news! There are so few paper mills left, so that makes it very hard for me to understand. I think we are in for some very rough times. Our country has been stolen from us.
It’s sad to hear of yet another company closing. My very first job was working in retail, I put in 9 1/2 years when suddenly they went out of business. I had no idea what I was going to do next! Now I am drawing a very small pension from that company. This economy has to straighten out before there is nothing left. Prices keep going higher and higher yet wages are not keeping up with them and being on a limited income due to retirement and it’s a struggle at times to have money to pay bills and buy groceries. Sending prayers to the employees of that company that things will work out for them🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Andrew, our papermill closed a few years ago as well. I live in a small community too. Newspapers are going extinct. It was bought by a bit coin company due to the power supply. Change sucks,
I cant explain it but it has something to do with electrical power generation and investing in bitcoin. Bitcoin is somehow a alternate currency to the dollar. The bottom dropped out of the bitcoin market about 1 year ago and I'm not sure if investors recovered or not. I dont understand it and so I cant explain. Not many people can explain it to my satisfaction.
That's crappy. Especially for as big as GP is. I use to pull the osb out of Hosford alot. Now I haul zip system and Louisiana pacific, and as a driver hauling it, the rates on that has dropped tremendously but yet stupid expensive still at the store. I do hate to hear that, especially when eventually we plan on buying property up around alford area.
This is unfortunate. My heart goes out to your community. I think it's easy to blame politicians for these moments. Paper mills have been hit hard by technology. Many companies, schools, even publishers are going paperless. Recently I actually picked up a load of books. The college was having them all scanned to the internet so they could use digital copies instead. I know you guys will fight on and find a solution for your families.
Dear friends - my heart goes out to your community - hope you all can stay strong! My family actually owns a paper mill down here and it too is one of the backbones of the community. We are holding in there against larger mills and greater competition so I can’t imagine the pain of having to close such a lifeline! Very poignant to hear the effect of such a closure from your point of view and my prayers the new lifeline will soon come to give a boost to your community! Abraços
Yup, a community in our area had their pulp mill bought out, and it was closed and all the machinery was stripped out and shipped to China. The town is now half the size and is a dead end retiresment community on the skids.
Things are changing because of technology. I have a cousin and an uncle (two different sides of my family, they haven't ever met) who both lost their livelihoods in the printing industry because of the internet and loss of revenue in the newspaper industry. Prayers for you and all the people who have been blindsided with the changes.
I worked for a paper cup company for 17 years. It was bought by Solo Cup and after over 60 years in production, the plant I worked at was shut down. To the people of Perry, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. I came out of that tunnel better off than when I went in. That’s how much a corporation cares about people. When you are down they will step on your neck if it will save em a dollar.
I was blown away by the timing.
516 Georgia Pacific employees plus the truckers and farmers.. Very sad time for Taylor County and surrounding communities.
Literally thousands of jobs no longer needed.
I think the US paper industry has been in turmoil for many years now. The seeds of Globalization that were planted back in the very early 90’s are now maturing and Americans are paying a heavy price for shipping manufacturing and other jobs off shore. That's yet another huge group of people that's directly impacted.
So sad....🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Thoughts and prayers go out to everybody that made that lumber mill run as a community and to all the people that put their time and life into that place
So sad to hear about the plant closing....sad to say its happening all over the country.

So very sad to hear about the closing of the plant. We had our mill close last year after 90’plus years of operation.
It really hurts these small towns.
@@TKCL just heard from a friend that GP is also closing their mill in Foley Alabama as well.
And another viewer just mentioned another GP closure up north. Buckling down for the recession is my final answer.

God bless:)
At the end of the day, no one looks out better for you than..... You.... Words to live by in corporate America. Take care and God bless.
Best decision I ever made
Hear these stories a lot!
So hard to live on a fixed income not knowing day to day what things will cost. I feel for you.
Thank you for watching, take care.
Good message today Mr. Kelley. Sorry for your community. Prayers for you all!
Take care!
One of our largest exports in the Country is recyclable cardboard- when the container ships unload all the cheap overseas goods, those containers refill with packaging- gotta change this, make the effort to buy American! ( Milwaukee is making pliers and other hand tools here again- YES!
They are closing a paper mill over here in southeast texas at the end of the year... Prayers!
Sorry to hear that.
Same where I live we have had several big businesses close recently, But don't worry the politicians say there is no recession, and unemployment numbers are down.
Yeah right!
Thanks.
Hello neighbor, yes it's going to hurt this community. Best of luck!
Yes I know what you are saying. I work at a paper mill that’s been in business since 1864. They sold twice since 2018. It makes you wonder how long paper n pulp mills will last. God bless the people in your community that they find other jobs. Thanks for the great video
That’s terrible. I can’t believe all this is happening. Very sad… good luck and blessings to you and your community.❤🎚🕊🇺🇸
You are on the right path.
God bless everyone in that community kept your spirit up help each other when you can people think all this money Biden give for free it's not for free we are all paying for it now we have to change the government it is so corrupt it's not funny so everyone pray that God steps in and changes thing again God bless everyone in that community and around the world
Same thing when GP came here to NH. Within a few years their "market dried up" when in reality they just moved the production to their WI facilities.
Yes sir I'm a believer, times sure feel like the predictions we've all read. Take care and God bless!
I truly feel for your countries direction, it's sad what little I see from up there.
So sad. Prayers. Representative of town should had put fillers out for other business to come in. Someone not doing there job.
Thanks for sharing. Those poor people many prayers.
They and state politicians did. You can't force a company to sell.
I use to work GP and got hurt on the job. They didn't pay for my medical and since it was a small injury, I never went back. Best thing ever as I got a better paying job and that site got shut down a couple years later.
Thank you for your show. We all need to be planning ahead.
I just read this the other day. Praying for the entire community from here in Newberry, FL. I think MANY of us Americans share the same concern in having that gut feeling tough times are coming.
Sad times!
Thanks to you know who and our great economy. God bless your community and thanks for sharing
Thank you for listening, take care.
Dang that’s crazy to hear. Hope all turns out well for those people.
Amen!
God bless!
Thank you
I know how your community feels. 10 years ago I worked at a oil company that a year after the third buyout. They closed the door on a company that was in business for 30 years.
Sad isn't it?
Maybe everybody that lost their jobs can come together and start a business together. Pool funds somehow, and help each other in the process. Must be some way. Prayers going up that the community can come together for each other, and become stronger for it.
Papermaker here in West Tennessee and that's devastating news! Thoughts and prayers for everybody affected. It's truly life altering.
It is! Take care
😮😮Ohhh my... that is definitely devastating to everyone in that area... The ripples will roll down to so many businesses... Ohh, this is heart breaking... over 500 direct jobs lost.😢.. I sure hope that someone else can come in there and at least get a part of the mill back going...
That is sad, but this kind of thing has been happening here in Ontario Canada for years
Small towns are really gonna be hit hard, without that money buying goods in the community. Our 4 big dairies closed down in our rural area and many people had to move to other countys , because their residences were tied to their jobs.
I'm afraid we will see some of that here.
Thank you
This happened in Lufkin Texas a few years ago with a paper mill.
Sign of the times. they also close Georgia-Pacific's Day Street Mill in Green Bay closes Friday. They've been making paper products in the city for 122 years
Prayers out to the community of Perry. The hope is in Jesus. The times we living in is spoken in the Bible. Prepare your hearts!
Amen
With the 2020 boom of lumber prices I'm not suprised about a bust a few years later.
It always repeats itself doesn't it?
Love the realism. Just keep being you. The worst is yet to come. But it's reality. You should do a weekly shout out to small channels to help. Your going to grow quickly in the coming yr. Your getting better n better. It's fun for us to watch. Thanks again
Wise words from a wise man. Your compassion shows through, and you should be commended for imploring everyone to stay encouraged. Thank you for what you do.
Take care!
America doesn't produce like it once did.
I read about that yesterday. Terrible news. I also read where your Governor wants a job fair sat up ASAP to help the people losing their jobs.
I read that today, glad it's getting some attention.
All our prayers sent.
Never any telling, it's the times we live in.
Great video. Thanks for sharing. 🤠
So sorry for your community. Praying for all involved and has lost there means of income. Back to back blows with the hurricane and now this man. Keep pushing Perry!🙏
Horrible timing, I pray this is the last blow for a while.
Thank you for the prayers and kind words Andrew. You made a good to go for it and I enjoy your channels.
So very sorry the the uncertainty and aggravation tossed on everyone. God bless!
I feel for those people. The unfortunately paper mills are a thing of the past. Everything is paperless now.
That's not what's actually made at a paper mill, it's pulp. It's used in clothes, tires, tvs, filters, medicine, makeup, food casings ect. The list goes on and on, it's a very commonly used product.
Can't wipe your butt with digital
Your still thinking wrong, it's not for actual paper. You use these products everyday whether you realize it or not.
I guess I didn’t think about that type of stuff. Kinda like petroleum you think gas but it’s also in so many other thjngs
I hate that for all those friends/families of your community. Prayers for all of them. Keep the hard work/resilient attitude and faith that the good Lord knows what he is doing and everything happens for a reason. Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% what you choose to do about those situations. Keep the faith. God Bless!
God bless!
Same thing just happened in Clyde NC. Paper box manufacture shut down. Lot of jobs lost.
Hate to see this happening.
My heart bleeds for that whole area of N FL. I know how important that mill was to so many in that community! It reminds me so much of that Ronnie Dunn song “Cost of Livin”. Such a devastating blow to an already hurting area. Praying for everyone affected by this! 🙏🙏
Amen, it's going up!
Man, that is terrible news! There are so few paper mills left, so that makes it very hard for me to understand. I think we are in for some very rough times. Our country has been stolen from us.
Can't disagree
It’s sad to hear of yet another company closing. My very first job was working in retail, I put in 9 1/2 years when suddenly they went out of business. I had no idea what I was going to do next! Now I am drawing a very small pension from that company. This economy has to straighten out before there is nothing left. Prices keep going higher and higher yet wages are not keeping up with them and being on a limited income due to retirement and it’s a struggle at times to have money to pay bills and buy groceries. Sending prayers to the employees of that company that things will work out for them🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Wow. My heart aches for those impacted by this. Will definately have your community in my thoughts and prayers.
Thank you!
Andrew, our papermill closed a few years ago as well. I live in a small community too. Newspapers are going extinct. It was bought by a bit coin company due to the power supply. Change sucks,
What bitcoin company? That's wild!
I'm very familiar with bitcoin and the huge power needs of the mining operations, I was curious about the company. No worries.
Pend Oreille News Print or POVN. I forgot the name of the bitcoin mining company. I'll sse if I can get that.
Take care
This is unfortunate. My heart goes out to your community. I think it's easy to blame politicians for these moments. Paper mills have been hit hard by technology. Many companies, schools, even publishers are going paperless. Recently I actually picked up a load of books. The college was having them all scanned to the internet so they could use digital copies instead. I know you guys will fight on and find a solution for your families.
I should have been more clear, this was a pulp mill. It's used in everyday items.
Abraços
Best of luck with your business, take care!
And you with yours my friend! Of I’m ever in the market for Paper professionals I’ll hit you up for some recommendations! Best to you and Tiffany
So sad to hear, Some community’s cant hardly survive even with out business closings.
Yup, a community in our area had their pulp mill bought out, and it was closed and all the machinery was stripped out and shipped to China. The town is now half the size and is a dead end retiresment community on the skids.
Sad to see!
So sorry to hear this about the papermill and all the people the closing affects.
Our thoughts and prayers and in coming. Stay safe all and GOD Bless
Things are changing because of technology. I have a cousin and an uncle (two different sides of my family, they haven't ever met) who both lost their livelihoods in the printing industry because of the internet and loss of revenue in the newspaper industry. Prayers for you and all the people who have been blindsided with the changes.
