- The kids favorite part of swimming is of course jumping in the pool. I don't expect this pool to have a very long life so I built a simple deck that can be moved after it's inevitable demise. CANON BALL !

Man i gotta tell you I've been looking for simple deck videos all over youtube. Everyone else makes it seem so complicated but your no nonsense video style made it super easy to comprehend. Thanks a ton!
Thanks. I'm glad you found it useful.
Started at 9am and just warpped up at 6:30 to include (1) trip to the Home Depot. I did buy the $4.00 set of plans (worked out great). Thanks so much from South Texas.
Awesome, it's a pretty easy project, but the cut list definitely makes it faster.
This looks great and a nice and easy project.
@@LastLeafStudioVideo
I bought the plan, and just to let y'all know, price for all materials at Home Depot came to: $465.82. Still in the $400 price range even with today's prices!!
Was just wondering about that lol, thanks
I just bought the plans and bought all material and it came to 560$, lowes prices.
@@SeanSR dang 100 bucks more in just a couple weeks lol
I’m in Tennessee and my total came to right around $400. I wonder if it depends on what state your in?
I just put most of the things in at lowes and came just under 400 😆 for the wood
I really appreciate the no music. It really worked for me.
Thank you. I am always torn on weather people want music or not. I appreciate the input.
This is about the speed my wife thinks I should get all our projects done by.
😄 10x speed
😂 so true!!!
I know thats right 🤣
I hear ya, brother
Du hast so recht Bruder!!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤THANK YOU FOR THE GOOD YOU DO TO SHARE EVERY STEP OF MAKING POOL DECK FOR A SMALL POOL, THIS HAS VALUE IN MANY WAYS, ONLY IF YOU KNEW OF THE MANY WHO ARE THANKFUL, AND THE JOY YOU GAVE THEM, MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS YOU, THE VIDEO IS 3 YEARS OLD BUT PEOPLE STILL SEE IT AND IS HELPING MANY, THANKS AGAIN AND BEFORE I FORGET, YOU HAVE AMAZING SKILLS TO DO IT BY YOURSELF; WOW!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much.
My husband would be asking for the screws the planks, the drill, etc . I’m proud you did this alone 😅
Thank you. I like to projects like this when everyone is gone for the day so it can be a surprise when they get home.
@@LastLeafStudioVideo that’s awesome 👏
I like doing projects when nobody is home so I don’t get any surprises 😂
I could be building my life saving device on a time limit & my grown ass adult girls would be pulling me away for some goofy shit! lol
Great job!
I’m looking to see how those blocks are used! My grown niece & I want a little deck around our little pool! 😅
Finally. Been trying to find simple instructions to build a small deck like this for ages. Nice work.
Thank you. Pretty simple
Little man’s face at the end jumping in the pool made all the hard work worth it.
Totally
Cannonball! I can't get enough of the fast speed editing and sounds throughout. All in a day's work. Very nice.
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it
This is exactly how I would have done it the chainsaw cracked me up it reminded me of Christmas Vacation when Clark Griswold used the chainsaw on his staircase post "fixed the newel post" 😂 The kids were cute enjoying it and jumping in the water!
Thank you. Sometimes, the chainsaw is the only way to go.
The comedy in this video is on point 👌🏼
It's not supposed to be funny. It's a very serious instructional video.
The slow-mo chainsaw cut near the end. LOL. Great project!
Thanks
10:07 June 2023.... I'm a 63 yr old women and I'm going to try this.
Good luck! You can do it 💪
Yep, I like it. Thought you were gonna lose me on the stairs by cutting the stringers. Thanks!
Yeah, stringers can be confusing. They are definitely better than the way I did it, but this is only a "temporary" structure.
That smile at the end of the video is why this is all worth it. Great quick build👍
Yeah what good is a pool if you can't jump in
Just bought all the supplies at Lowe’s in Tennessee and it was right around $400 ☺️ Thank you for the plans also! They came in so helpful at Lowe’s. I’ll update after the build to let you know how it goes. ☺️
That's awesome. Good luck I'm sure it will turn out great.
@@LastLeafStudioVideo we finished and I uploaded a video of our build and a few mods we made. ☺️ I put a link to your video in mine to give you credit. Thank you so much! We love our deck ❤️
@@crochetwithheather awesome I will have to check it out.
@@LastLeafStudioVideo could you tell
Me what I need
To buy to do this please
Where did you get the plans from?
It's worth the safety and the smiles.👍🏾
Safety 3rd 😁
Loved the look of joy on the kids faces at the end. Great job on your deck build!
Thank you very much. The kids really enjoy be able to jump in.
Atta boy, came out beautiful!
Thank you
Gotta admit - I was wondering how you were going to do those stairs, and I loved the solution! Looks like the kids really enjoy the new deck! Great build.
Thank you
Thanks dude... I way over complicated my idea ! This is perfect !
No problem
I don't know if you are interested or not but I just put some plans on Etsy.
www.etsy.com/listing/960687680/simple-6-x-8-pool-deck-plans?ref=shop_home_active_1
You made this look so easy!!
It's not as hard as one might think. YOU CAN DO IT!
@@LastLeafStudioVideoDo you have any instructions on what you were doing in this video?
Never seen anyone do stringers like that ever !
It's not the best way, and in some places, it's frowned upon, but my family is skinny, and we like to live on the edge.
Built this deck with some small improvements over the weekend. Cost me $486 at home depot. Just added handrails to the stairs and around the pool ladder. Also added a gate to the stair to keep my dogs from getting in without me. They love swimming but I'm afraid they won't be able to get out.
Awesome. The improvements are definitely a good idea
hahaha, I love your humorous
Perfect! I live where we have nut grass and it can poke a hole in your liner from underneath. After clearing what's there and leveling this will add that layer we need to keep that from happening! Plus it looks great too! Thanks!😊
Hey thanks for watching. If you are building one good luck.
sweet kids. good dad.
Thank you
Love your ideas here, especially the stairs! I'll be doing a deck for mine this Summer.
That's awesome. I hope you enjoy it as much as my kids enjoy this one.
The sped-up pool floaties were the most interesting part!!!
I thought for sure it would be the scooping of sawdust from the pool.
Exactly what I need right now.
Good I hope it works out for you.
bought the plan a few days ago went to menards in ohio got everything plus a 5 lb box on deck screws for $301 only thing i changed is i made stringers for stairs and now i have to go back and buy 7 more 12 ft deck boards to finish it up and insted of a 2x4 for the hand rail im going to notch it out and put a 4x4 there , thank you so much
Nice. Yours sounds like it's going to be built better than mine. I honestly only expected to have this up for about 2 or 3 years so I didn't go all out on it. Our pool is gone now but the deck as been moved and became a back porch for the house.
@@LastLeafStudioVideo I would love to send you some photos thank you so much for the plans and foundation
@@OMGitzBiGMike that would be awesome. Lastleafstudio1@gmail.com
Thanks Man! Just purchased your supplies list/simple plan. Looking forward to making this accessible for my wife as she shattered her leg in six places a few years ago after a bad fall (not pool related) and even though she's made a full recovery, just doesn't feel stable on that flimsy aluminum ladder. Cheers dude! I'll send pics or shoot a video back to you when I'm done.
Awesome I hope it works out for you. Definitely way better than the rinky dink ladder
What was the material list for this project?
Man of few words! Love it....best video on CZcams
Thank you. Thank you very much
Loving how u used the pencil ✏ as a spacer for the floor....nice
Thanks man. Use what you got
Very simple deck setup. I think I'll use this but I'll use the (2) long European pallets. Should work fine and I can just calculate the distance I need.
Thanks for watching. Good luck
I’m usually pretty good a figure out how stuff like this was done but I bought it anyway because it was a great design that wasn’t over-thought. Wanted to support that!
Great vid!!!!
Thanks man. Yeah it's pretty simple but I do appreciate the support.
Best part was the kids jumping in
They are the whole reason I built it
Very impressive 👏🏽!!!
Thank you very much
Halfway done building mine now, great idea man
Awesome. Definitely makes the pool more enjoyable.
Hell yeah man. A good handy worker knows to use miscellaneous cups for tools and nails. I see that Folgers cup lol. I use a 2L soda bottle cut in half with bottom end for nails.
Yeah can you believe some people just throw them away!
This was an awesome step by step video- Seeing your kids smiles as they jump from the deck was the best part though! 😉😁
Thank you. Jumping in is the best part of having a pool
Nice! Quick and easy. Will be using this video as my blueprint. But I won’t be doing it this fast 😂
Just need a healthy dose of caffeine. ☕️
thank you!
How Dad regains hero status!
Mission accomplished
Awesome Job Dad!
Thanks
Thanks for the great video , followed it to build a deck for my pool and it came out great.
Awesome I'm glad it was helpful.
Thank you
You're welcome
Codes are strict in my county. Everything has to be notched, and anchored below the frost line. Approved anchor's, hangers, brackets. No more than a 4" gap on rails or steps. It all drives up the price and time. But if the entire neighborhood wants to party on your deck at the same time it wont fall. Lol
Yeah this is probably far from meeting any building codes but hey it's pretty simple to build.🤷🏻♂️
@@LastLeafStudioVideo a lot of places probably don't care. What you built would probably outlast and outperform the pool. I live in a college party town that had a 2nd story deck collapse several year's ago due to 30 or 40 people on a little rotten deck acceding it's capacity so they adopted the strictest codes within reason.
@@jamesrogers4674 ah yeah that makes sense then.
Well done, sir. Great video. My plan is to do what did this weekend!
Good luck. 👍
Awesome video. Chickens & chainsaws were much helpful 😅im gonna try your pool deck build for my18 ft round pool. Kids look super happy 👍💯
Good luck.
Did you complete the deck? Send photos
Awesome build and the proof is in the smile of the children!!!
You make it look easy😂
Thank you. It's a challenge doing it by yourself though. I suppose I had some help from the chickens.
Great video, some great ideas that will make things easier!
Thank you
Awesome man!
Thank you
Love your chickens! Mine roam my yard too 😁
Thank you.
This video makes it seem so easy 😂 great job!
I might have a few years of experience with this kinda thing. 😁
Awesome! God bless!
Thank you
We have the same pool. Guess what my husband is doing next weekend 😂
It definitely makes it more fun to jump in. There are also plans available on easy if you need a little extra help.
It’s good!
I’ll do also, great for the kids 👍
Awesome good luck
Perfect example of what I want to do - thanks for the great video and plan.
You're very welcome. I think lumber prices are finally starting to drop too.
I love chickens 💝
They are definitely a big help. 😄
Built the deck but it sways a bunch. Would recommend using leftover wood to add bracing to the posts.
Yeah the taller the deck is the more movement it will have. I think I also added some 45° braces.
Awesome 😎... perfect addition and the kiddos seem to love it! Having a blast jumping in with the floats 🙌🏻
The kids love it. The water level in the pool is down by about 3 inches though. Thanks for watching.
Great job that turned out really great
Thank you. It could definitely be better but I don't really expect the pool to last more than 4 years
Awesome - thank you!
You're very welcome!
$311.52 in June 2024
Nice, I was thinking it was cheaper now.
Nice just starting to look for a cheap solution for a 14' round.
Nice. A round pool shouldn't be too difficult.
Great job! ❤ 👏🏼👍🏼🤘🏼
Thank you.
Great job. I have to do the same.
Thank you. Unfortunately I think the price tag was pre Covid lumber prices
Great job, I just built mine for $486.
Nice. I think I built mine right when lumber was starting to get crazy
Laughing At The Kids On Fast Motion
The kids are definitely the best part
Love it! Kids are so cool!
They really enjoyed the new addition to the pool
Thanks for the video ....and don't forget to pick up a chicken or two.....Check... Lumber, bricks screws and Chickens are on the list...lol
Yes, the chickens clear the area of bugs, which is essential.
Great video!! Just bought plans. I appreciate you making it look so easy.
No problem. Thanks for watching
Those chicken can’t wait till you done. 😂 Great work!!
Yeah they are excited to swim 👙
That’s was great how fast you did that! Could I please get the material list also ...getting ready to put up a 12 round pool for grandkids and would like to copy your deck...in the car now ready to go to home expo. Thank you!
Are you still waiting at Home Expo?
Still waiting? The grandkids might be too big at this rate.
I’m wondering why the livestock and the dog didn’t pitch a hand 🤣🤣🤣 Looks great…I came for ideas. Building myself. I’ve built a pergola by myself so this I can handle! Thanks for sharing!!
You're very welcome. The livestock and dog are just a bunch of freeloaders they never pull their own weight.
@@LastLeafStudioVideo 🤣😂
I’d love to know exactly what to buy to build this. This is exactly what I’m wanting to build for our pool.
I have plans in the description that includes the material list.
Nice
Thank you
Great work 👍
Thank you and thanks for watching.
awesome job man
Thank you. The kids really enjoy it
I have been building this deck. So far so good. I have a question about the joists. The joists you have put on are 3" over hang on each side. My joists fit across 6' on the ends of the frame. Since there is no overhang on any of them, will this be okay to keep going or do I need to redo the joists so they have the over hang ???
As long as the joists are sitting on a support they should be good
I thought that I had to dig in the floor and put concrete, that's look easier and faster thank you
That would probably be a good idea if you want a permanent structure, but I figured I'd only have it for a few years. It's still there, though, and holding up nicely.
Wow! Awesome. Can you to come my house around 5, looks like it would be done by supper(6) 😅
Oh yeah no problem, what's the address? 🤣
nice work buddy!
Thank you sir.
Awesome work
Thank you very much. I appreciate the support
Where can I find your plan and directions? I’ve looked all over.
I found the plans and have purchased. Thanx a ton!!!
Ok, awesome. Good luck
Great video
Thank you. I'm glad you liked it
Perfekt!!! Awesome
Thank you. It definitely makes the little pool seem cooler.
I know this set up is mainly for kids but wonder how much weight it would hold? I’d like to build one for my family just a small one with this budget but there all 200lb and up.?Very nice deck
If you want it to be sturdier use 6, 4x4 posts instead of just 4 and maybe a 2x10 for your floor joists to sit on instead of a 2x6
In a day wow impressive i know I can do this
I had to take a nap afterwards 😴
❤ this is great! I may try it 😊
Do it! It makes the pool a lot more fun and convenient.
Thnx so much for this!!! (In Louisiana so it should cost at least 3x this to build 😭)
Yeah lumber is crazy these days.
Love this and it is what I need.after back surgery I really need this. Where can I get a material list? Thanks
I think there's a link in the description
I have never built anything before but very eager to try after watching your video. Please can you email me your measurements or list of supplies you used?
I've had a lot of people ask so I made plans. Link in the description I believe.
@@LastLeafStudioVideo thank you. I'll check out the link. What's the size of your deck?
@@kcnnubia I believe it's 6x8
Not with lumber prices at a record high today
I like the video, deck looks great! I was just wondering how stable it is being that the legs are not cemented in the ground.
I later added 45° braces, and it was rugged enough for us. The kids could jump off, and I didn't even notice any wiggle. Get a 250lbs man to jump around on it, and that might be another story.
@@LastLeafStudioVideo Thanks for the update.
Good job
Thank you for watching
What a pro
Thanks pal
Do you actually have a build video for this deck? Some commentary or instructions on how to actually put this together would be nice, especially for a novice like myself.
I'm sorry I do not. This is the best I can do.
