    It looks great!!! We moved to a bigger house, and it's costing tons of money. I love the house, but my FAVORITE thing ever is to float in my pool. Our roof, pecan trees, and everything my fiance refuses to cut down ruins my above ground pool. I don't even know where to start with building a deck now just to enjoy my pool

    • @jessicaphogan
      @jessicaphogan Před 3 měsíci +1

      Preface, we live in the middle of the country in arkansas with crazy weather and tons of tractors driving by. Lol. We place it in the backyard to be outside of my sliding glass doors, and our house is weird with a wrap around concrete porch with brick house. The pool had to go a little from the porch so it's like I'm stepping in to the unknown just to climb the ladder and the roof has all kinds of debris that ruins hours of cleaning it.

    • @LifeLessOrdinary
      @LifeLessOrdinary  Před 3 měsíci

      It’s very hard at times to keep a pool clean with lots of trees and debris constantly getting in the water. Thankfully I have no trees close to the pool.

    Nice. I just finished my deck this weekend for my 16' Intex pool. One thing I didn't focus on when building it, I live on a corner in my neighborhood, and have a 6' privacy fence around my backyard and my deck is about 15 feet from the fence line, I didn't realize how much standing on the 4' deck would tower over the fence. Kind of lose privacy when using the deck, but it's a necessity for getting in and out of the pool without climbing over the stock ladder.

    • @LifeLessOrdinary
      @LifeLessOrdinary  Před 3 měsíci +1

      We have the same issue, but like you said it’s worth it to be able to get in and out of the pool with ease.

      Planning on doing the same soon. And just like you no fancy metal stringer hangers just regular ol 3" screws to hold everything together as I'm way out of code enforcement areas in the woods and I see no issues at all doing it exactly how you did. May enclose the bottom so you can't see any underneath

    • @LifeLessOrdinary
      @LifeLessOrdinary  Před 2 lety +1

      It’s hard to say because I bought all the lumber at the same time which included the main deck that I didn’t really show much. I think it was like 2k for everything. And obviously the main deck was probably 70% of the total.

    That is a great looking deck! I am looking to build the same deck this weekend. I do have a couple questions, how long is the deck itself minus the stairs and how did you accomplish the curve around the pool when building the joists?

    • @LifeLessOrdinary
      @LifeLessOrdinary  Před rokem

      The curve honestly I just eyeballed based on the pool. The joists underneath the decking are not as close to the pool as the top decking. How long is the deck? Are you talking about the top part or the large flat area on the ground?

  • @katiebange1916
    @katiebange1916 Před rokem +1

    This is awesome! You rock - I am new to woodworking so I'm curious where I start? Did you build the upper deck first? Also this 4x4 are they one piece - starting at ground and extend ask the way up to the top of the handrail? (Looking at deck portion up top). I think that's a dumb question but needs to be asked lol. Last thing - or ground around the pool is not perfectly flat- Soooo... Lol - maybe I should build this and hire someone to put in ground? I assume something like this must be set is concrete right?
    I appreciate you ❤ any advise accepted!!

    • @LifeLessOrdinary
      @LifeLessOrdinary  Před rokem

      Hi Katie
      I made the lower section off of the porch first and then added the high part next to the pool. And yes the 4x4 starts in the ground and goes all the way up to the top of the hand rail. Yes the deck is concreted I the ground. Personally, I would put the pool at first and then build the deck up to it. Thank you so much for your kind words 🙏🏼

    Did you cut the stair stringers or did you buy the stringer prefab? If Prefab, where do you find them at?
    Also, Off topic of deck - but on topic of Intex pool; It looks like you may live in warmer southern climate and if so do you take your pool up and down every year? This is first summer of our pool and wondering how folks deal with it in the winter. I know it says in freezing climates you have to take them down for the winter - but I am in southern California and we might have night time temps around 35 for a few weeks and that's the coldest it gets - and thats just a couple hours from about 3AM until dawn and as soon as the sun comes back up it warms up. It would be to cold to swim but wondering if it is worth leaving the pool up and running a pump all winter long or if I should plan to take it down. Curious how other folks in the warmer climates handle it.

    • @LifeLessOrdinary
      @LifeLessOrdinary  Před 2 lety +1

      I bought them prepare at Home Depot 👍 I’m in Texas and I leave the pool up. I do shut it down and pack the pump away, and then cover pool with a tarp.
