@@herculesas8025I’ve been pole vaulting for over 5 years and I’ve watched many, many pole vaulters over the years and by no means is what mondo doing luck, he’s passed over 6 meters 100+ times, if that’s luck than he’s the luckiest pole vaulter to ever grace this planet.

Such a funny sport. Running or jumping with your own body or throwing an implement make sense as athletic endeavors, but using the recoil of a highly bendable stick to launch oneself over a height one would never reach with just ones body power seems like recruiting technology, however crude, to excessively enhance high jumping (doubling what can be done with just one's body). Well, then why not have another olympic competition where the athletes launch themselves out of a cannon, Loony Toon style? Why limit themselves to just the +/-6 meters this stick can lift them? And don't compare this vaulting pole with a swimmer's cap or a runner's shoes. Neither of those double the speed with which the athletes cover a standard distance. There is a reason Pieter van den Hoogenband is a freestyle legend-- because he didn't win his 7 Olympic medals with the aid of a jetski.
Pole vaulting probably exists for the same reason as ski jumping - because it's fun and spectacular. There are many "weird" sports, so it's something for every taste. If you think pole vaulting is ridiculous, just don't watch it then.

Since 2004, 5.51m, which had been held by Germán Chiaraviglio of Argentina.
It should be a youth best not junior revord. The creator of this video got confused between youth and junior.
