    Leicester City wanted to sue Everton I really hope a points deduction will stop them going up

  • @stephenhodgson3506
    @stephenhodgson3506 Před 2 měsíci +37

    It's only a short time ago that Leicester were included in the group that were going to sue Everton for breaching FFP rules that cost them their place in the EPL. Now it turns out they were doing exactly the same thing.
    Let's get rid of the smoke screen of Man City and Chelsea and look at the facts;
    1) At least 14 clubs voted on and approved the current FFP rules which stated that for a breach of FFP they could be fined and/or given a points deduction.
    2) At least 14 clubs voted to speed up the process because clubs were doing all they could to drag out the process.
    3) Among those that voted yes for both of the above were both Everton and Leicester.
    4) Forest voted yes to point 2 but accepted point one as a condition of their membership of the EPL.
    5) We know that at least 15 clubs kept within the FFP rules (excepting we don't yet know the truth about Chelsea and Man City).
    6) It would appear that Everton, Leicester and Forest thought they would only be fined and that points deductions would not apply so they didn't have a problem.
    7) All three clubs accepted as a condition of membership of the EPL and/or EFL all three clubs signed on to obey the rules.
    8) While Forest appear to have in large accepted their punishment, Everton and Leicester appear to now be claiming it's all unfair and they want a change after the facts.
    9) Both Everton and Leicester have deliberately refused to release their financial statements probably knowing that to do so would be an admission of guilt.
    Those are the facts.
    I wonder how Leicester would react if they won promotion that the EPL said "from what happened this past season, you don't want to obey our rules so you are not eligible to become a member." How will Leicester react if they don't get promoted back to the EPL and instead have to play another season in the EFL where the full weight of FFP will hit them and they can't use the argument we were not a member"?

      @@domparris7001 that these clubs voted for something they didn't believe would have a real impact on them. They in effect cheated believing that they would only have to face a financial penalty. A financial penalty that might impact their standing with FFP later but they would only receive the same punishment again. They had no complaints until suddenly they were facing a points deduction that could cost them their place in the big money league.
      They knew they were breaching the rules because they tried to hide their accounts. they say they should not receive a sporting sanction but gained a sporting advantage by buying and playing players they couldn't afford. This caused other clubs to suffer. Somehow they feel they should be treated as a special case. But at the same time in Leicesters case they tried to sue another club for doing the same as them.

    Sorry Simon (I know you don't read these, or would care less anyway, but it's cathartic for me), but to say that "teams didn't care until there was a points deduction" is one of the most obvious 'duh' statements you've ever made. Of course a points deduction raises concerns, but the major issue teams have (besides being docked points) is the randomness associated with the punishments because the PL had no plan in place. The PL wanted 12 points docked from Everton, and ended up with 10 - dropped to 6 upon appeal. I think the PL wanted Nottingham Forest to be hit with 8 (?), but end up with 4, and that was from being all nice and cooperative (trying a different approach where Everton tried to post a defense). Then you have the administrator for the Forrest case state he had no idea where the administration for Everton's case came up with 3 of those points. It's ad hoc and inconsistent, and obviously politically driven; trying to demonstrate that the PL has their house in order after largely being asleep at the wheel, with their only raison d'etre to land big TV contracts and empower the PL brand.

      genuninely so strange since if these "clubs" where in any other form of business and not football they would have been shutdown decades ago. not just talking everton forrest etc im even talking man utd since they usually post losses per year yet its within the "acceptable losses" like what in the actually hell is acceptable losses. lossing money shouldnt be accepted atleast on a yearly basis like football clubs do.

How can the EFL put a transfer embargo on them, when the financial year, for which they are part of the EFL, hasn't even finished yet? The PL should have waited until the summer to charge Leicester, if they are promoted, and then apply a points-deduction, not charge them mid-season, which will undoubtable have a negative impact on the promotion efforts. If they don't go up, this seasons account will then be judged by the EFL and they can then apply a punishment if their rules have been broken. It's not rocket-science. I think Leicester will win this, as both the EFL & PL are acting out of their jurisdiction at the current time. Come the end of the season, one will and should then be able to act legally against the club.

      @@Daftdrunkk Lets hope they get their just deserts when those 115 charges are finally dealt with. I'm hoping that apart from a demotion that one of the other punishments will be that the owners are barred from owning an English football club for having failed the fit and proper person's test on the basis of falsifying accounts to deceive and gain an unsporting advantage, as well as not cooperating with an official investigation. That would force a then lower division club to be sold in a fire sale like Abramovich had to do with Chelsea.

    FA clearly need to start getting tough when it comes to enforcing rules. This is getting ridiculous. Man City's case might be wrapped up in the 2030's, we have a situation this season where 2 teams don't know if they'll get relegated or not due to points appeals, and now this Leicester nonsense?

    We literally won the league not long ago yet look at how we are being treated. This is utterly disgusting and shameful behaviour from the Premier League and every single other club should stand up and demand that Leicester be let off all charges, for the good of football. If we have any integrity left in the sport Leicester won't be charged for anything and a full apology will be issued to the club. Sickening and just shows how woefully we are treated as a club, it's the same year after year. Up the Foxes.

    • @1962gms
      @1962gms Před 2 měsíci

      Quite the opposite. Leicester used to have the support of neutrals because they achieved the title without cheating. Now the owners and management are clearly cheats and have lost support from everyone. Shameful behaviour that deserves to be punished. You forget about how Clubs that haven't cheated have been negatively impacted by Everton, Notts Forest and Leicester. Of course the rules are rubbish, but they are the rules - if you break them then you get punished. Leicester have been brilliant this season, but they will be tarnished for ever because of this.

    • @skacel7
      @skacel7 Před 2 měsíci

      Not only have no rules been broken, Leicester have actually been proven to have followed everything fully within the rules and they've been helping the Premier League to write the rules as they've been so well behaved. But even if we DID break the rules (it's well known we didn't) then it shouldn't matter because Leicester won the league only a few years ago. This is how we treat Premier League winners? Utterly sick and the game has gone. @@1962gms
