HMT (Hindustan Machine Tools) is an Indian government-owned company that primarily manufactures machine tools and watches. HMT was once a well-known brand for watches in India and had a range of watch models, including the HMT Galaxy.
In the year 1961, HMT set up a watch manufacturing Unit at Bangalore in collaboration with M/s Citizen Watch Co., Japan. The first batch of Hand Wound Wrist Watches manufactured here was released by the then Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. The most popular mechanical hand-wound watch is HMT Janata. There are also other mechanical watches like HMT Pilot, HMT Jhalak (Semi Skeletal), HMT Sona, HMT Braille.

Hmt watches had emotional connection to the people of India.. Apart from that they are selling average or below average products.. Water resistence are not great, I think even Sonata watches had better finishing levels when it comes to quartz watches.. You can buy Alba and timrx automatic instead of this average Automatic Hmt's.. But hmt offers more color options.. like sky blue, this color had great ffan following..
Very true, HMT has a history and heritage of being the first watch brand of India. They are also a great value preposition, also some of their watch designs are classic and time tested. Thirdly they are hardy watches, many people have decades old hmts which still work well. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
@@drivinganddiecastsAm not against them, you are right about their designs which is nice, old school ones are superb ..but finishing levels has to be improved.. Now they increased price..I had a Kohinoor, the lume quality of their top end watches are also not great,

Purchased the same.. only thing what Hmt should change is the color of the letters on dial.. White letters on sky blue.. bad idea. If u look others variants Saffron and Black. They are well printed.

Yes it does. I have not checked but backup would be around 35-40 hours.

Which movement they both use ?
And which one is better?
They use the same Miyota 8205 movement. You will not go wrong getting any of these, although my personal choice is the Kedar due to wider strap of 18 mm compared to 16 mm of Rajat and I like the case design of the Kedar more.
Which crystal is used in Rajat premium, acrylic or mineral?

Hello, there are a lot of models of Sangam Quartz from HMT, many dial types, silver and gold plated many different bracelet designs, I do have few of them. The Sangam Quartz is quite popular because of its looks and looks especially cool in the graph dial. It is a small watch and it has a brass case instead of steel, but is very competitively priced at Rs 1470/- hence is great value. At this price it is a steal and I would recommend it, just remember it is not a long term watch, which some HMTs are known for.
Hi kedar premium yellow dial , is the dial matt yellow or in gold colour?
I am not sure but only White, Blue and Gray have matt versions. Yellow dial is sunburst like the green in my other video.
hmt's water resistance is questionable. Also I have the feeling the case material is brass and not stainless steel.
It's true that HMT does not offer as much water resistance as say Casio but they normally keep the promise they make so 30 meter's splash proof is there. Few people have raised this doubt but HMT normally declares if a case is brass like for the new Tareeq or the Skeletons which are priced much higher than the Rajat, they do not need to hide this info so if they say Stainless Steel then we take it as being that. Unfortunately have no idea if they would, but as mechanical movements are not in abundance with HMT chances are bleak, they recently doubled prices for mechanicals and not much stock coming these days. Thanks for watching.

If you have smaller wrist and looking for an automatic with a matt dial then this is a good choice. Do remember it has 16 mm band while Kedar has 18 mm so that is slightly a bigger watch and might be a better choice out of the two, you want to go more a more macho look.
Which one should be a good investment...rajat or kedar?
Both these watches are NEW and not a great option from investment angle. It is your personal choice as to which one you like more. Personally I would prefer the Kedar Green Sunburst dial as it had better legibility and better lume although this Blue Rajat comes as a close second. New shades of Kedar in matt are also coming, including a Tiffany one, lets see how good they are down the line. Thanks for watching.

What is the power reserve ? How many hours can it last if kept untouched and in still condition ??
I have not tested myself but I believe its 42 hours. It has a MIYOTA 8205 Movement.

It is all steel and substantial for its size. If you have smaller wrist and looking for an automatic with a matt dial then this is a good choice. Do remember it has 16 mm band while Kedar has 18 mm so that is slightly a bigger watch and might be a better choice out of the two if you're looking for a more heavy and substantial watch as band is wider and hence watch heavier.

Kedar or rajat which one do you prefer overall??
Both are good watches the Kedar has an 18 mm bracelet compared to 16 mm for Rajat. Kedar is also slightly a bigger watch with covered lugs ends I like that case more personally. But you will not go wrong with any of these is you have smaller size wrist.

Is the Rajat bigger than the Kedar?
No, case width is almost same the case length of Kedar is more by 4 mm (42.98 mm vs 39.01 mm of Rajat) as it covers the lugs, which are visible in the Rajat. Thanks for watching.

Best ways to own a HMT watch you are looking for.
1) Try site on regular basis if watch is in stock grab it. Go for good in stock watches, see in home page list of recently purchased watches by others for trends on which watches are better.
2) Try local watch shops big and small they might have some older HMTs in stock but remember they will be used ones with aftermarket dial in some cases, ask for atleast 1 year seller warranty, do not pay huge sums of money. Normally you can get a good mechanical HMT in less than Rs 2K. Kohi, Pilot, Vijay, Sona are commonly available.
3) Try online Facebook groups, but remember many will be aftermarket dials and you will not get any warranty and could get fleeced.

Hacking with miyota movement, so how it is hmt watch.
Interesting point. Initial Rajat's used the 6500 automatic movement which was by Citizen just like 0231 mechanical. The Miyota 8200 is also a Citizen originated movement, and HMT has used Citizen movement hence Miyota in HMT makes sense. The Mechanicals by HMT have doubled in price recently. So this watch although not fully inhouse makes sense at the current price bracket, with Hacking, Day, Date and quick set and Miyotas have been regularly used by HMT. Its accuracy is something which we will see, some reports suggest the good old 0231 is more accurate than this. Thanks for watching.

Marketing scam... Premium watch should not have linked bracelet
Hi, while the watch dial does say Premium but actually if you look at the price and value preposition this is one of the lowest priced automatic in the market. Hence linked bracelet does make sense at the lower price bracket this watch falls in. True value preposition.
Hmt watches quality is so cheap and they don't even make their own watches but from 3rd party
