No round profile files were hurt during this butchery. It changes the sound because the exhaust pressure pulse hits the inner surface of the inner end cap. Fluid dynamics would say it would cause a detrimental effect on the flow though, not that we buy Wees for performance

+Idaho Rider it really does sound better at an idle, has more of a deep tune to it, I thought that it was about the same when riding but it is certainly louder than stock. I think it sounds good for such a cheap mod that doesn't involve drilling holes into it :-)

It really doesn't change the volume of the exhaust, just changes the final note (sound) coming out of the exhaust. At HWY speeds the sound is pretty much the same as stock, just a little deeper in the note.

I no longer have her, sold her about a year ago, the sound under load was really nice, not loud and obnoxious, but a very nice note to it, best part was that just normal riding through the streets it really didn't make that much difference, it was under load and through the twisties with some spirited riding that the tune really came out, not a single regret doing it, and was good enough for me not to have the need to go and get an after market exhaust.
+Tommy Strømland The sound is nice at idle and with a little amount of throttle, at high revs the sound hasn't changed much at all, although I may do something to change that :-) You are right about the cost of aftermarket pipes, but I will be getting some in the future :-)

Now it sounds like it's farting all the time. Problem is, if you don't like it and can't weld, there's no way back other then paying someone to clean it up and weld a new pipe on again. I went back to stock but am curious about removing the catalytic converter :)
holy shit?? you complain about cutting off and inch of pipe and say it's irreversible if you cant weld and will need to pay someone else to do it or buy a whole new pipe and header....... then you wonder about doing a full cut and fabrication job to remove the cat...... hypocrite

Naah...I'm good with the quiet stock exhaust for now. I don't like the way it sounds just idling it sounds nasty, I don't mind it being loud when you get into to it but it sounds nasty at idle now at stop lights kind of like a Harley it's annoying to be around it. A little safer on the road though is the benefit.

Yeah, is crazy how cutting off just a tiny little bit changes the whole note and volume of it.

Everybody on these videos that modify the exhaust they always seem to be afraid to rev the bike up it would nice to hear the difference

Good thing is it sounds like that mainly at low revs or idle. Seems it didn't do much at higher revs which is great. No crazy loud obnoxious pipe.

That came standard with the bike, you would be able to get one from a OEM parts website, but not sure if they would stock many of them??
