  • A quick comparison between two Delkevic exhaust silencer options, the 320 mm Tri-Oval Stainless and the 350mm Oval Carbon Fibre.
Its better to record the sound while riding, but for an easy comparison I just did static revving on this video. The 320 Tri-Oval makes a great sound at lower speeds, so up to 60mph. At higher revs it can be a little loud, whereas the 350 carbon is quieter for motorway riding. The carbon is quieter at lower speeds also, but still so much better than stock. Personal preference which sounds best, both great options. Happy riding!

Like the look of the S/S and the sound of the C/F. Very subtle but smoother sound. Thx for doing the "open pipe" sound.

Thanks much Samuel and buying the Delkevic stainless tri oval system for my 650XT. This vid helped a ton.

Both sound excellent. Still the best looking and cleanest gen 1 DL650. Love that pearl vigor blue. Just bought a '22 650 adventure. One of the last Vstroms to be shipped to local dealer- so he said. Next year the vtwin is supposed to be dropped.so sad. One of the techs said he saw a gen 1 DL with over 300k miles on original engine. Yours should last forever. thanks.

Thanks, I’ve kept the carbon on as it’s more subtle and a little quieter round the countryside. I use the bike every day so not always spotless, but they do scrub up well and are far better made and finished than the price would suggest. Enjoy the V-Twin before it goes parallel, mine is now 18 years old so they do last. 😊

    Thanks

ive noticed with all my carbon fibre pipes, the exhaust note changes(louder, deeper) when the pipes heat up.
    for me, carbon fiber wins👍

I like the sound of the Carbon Fiber muffler. You must have saved some weight over the stock one as well.

Yes, both options are significantly lighter. There is no noticeable power gain, just a much nicer sound 😊

Any issues with skid plate or center stand when installing? Like the look of the carbon. Thanks for posting this!

Yes, I had to remake the lower mounting bracket for the skid plate. This won’t be necessary for all skid plates manufacturers, but for the Heed I had to lower the skid by 10mm to get clearance around the new exhaust pipe. This does mean a loss of ground clearance, but then I only do light green lanes so not an issue for me. Quality of the system has been superb, no problem at all after a year of riding 😊

You only really notice when riding. The carbon is more subtle, more mellow under accelerating and at speed. The Tri-oval is more raspy and louder at speed, so depends how loud you like to be 😊

@@graingerblaze That's what I would say too. The Tri is raspier and that's brand new. Wonder what it be like after 5Km?
