Delkevic Motorcycle Exhaust Install - Suzuki DL650 V-Strom

  • In this video I show you how to remove the stock DL650 V-Strom exhaust and replace it with a Delkevic 350mm Carbon Exhaust System.
    I have a B&B bash plate and a Suzuki centre stand which added a few extra dramas to the removal and install process. What I didn't show in the video was that in order for the new exhaust system to fit, I had to cut away roughly 20mm from the corner of my bash plate mounting bracket. But the original mounting holes are still there.

    Delkevic is the best value exhaust I've ever come across, I would consider one for any bike I ever purchase just about. All though I found the strap for the silencer on the inside bit is SHARPER than anything I ever thought possible. It won't damage the silencer in anyway but it will open you up good if you don't treat it with caution.

    • @MrAusadventure
      @MrAusadventure  Před 2 lety

      Wow! Thankfully I haven't experienced that yet! After 2 years on the bike though I'm pretty happy with the Delkevic!

    Looks good and sounds even better. Getting the standard exhaust off is a pain, the 2 pipes at different angles fight against each other.
    I was surprised how good the quality is for the price and the customer service is good too.

    • @MrAusadventure
      @MrAusadventure  Před 4 lety

      Yeah, but I reckon it would have been fairly easy with no bash plate or centre stand.
      I'm more than happy with the quality for the price. Yeah I had a great customer service experience as well. Really nice bloke to deal with.

      No worries. They are great value for money I reckon. Part of the reason it took me so long to get an aftermarket exhaust is the price of some of them, but this was very affordable.

    2014 I rode learn2ride's SV (basically the same engine as the Strom) and was wowed by how amazing it sounded with his after-market pipe, I remember telling you about it. Basically the OEM Honda one sounded like a hair dryer and the OEM Strom one sounded like a whirring clockwork toy 🤣 🤣

    Good on ya mate. I wanted to install the exact same pipe on my bike. I'm useless when it comes to wrenching, and on account of the fact that I have the centre stand and the bash plate, there was too much goofing around. So, I'm stuck with the stock pipe. :-(

    • @MrAusadventure
      @MrAusadventure  Před 3 lety

      Thanks mate. Yeah, it was a bit fiddly for sure with the centre stand and bash plate. I was lucky that I had the keys to work that day so I made a quick dash in there to grab my angle grinder. Without that, the pipe wasn't going to fit!

    Has it broken yet? It will. There’s a metal flap in the mid-pipe collector thing that is very poorly spot welded into place. When those welds break, the flap rattles around in there. Mine currently sounds like someone dropped a handful of coins into the exhaust! Delkevic replaced the first one, but that meant going through the hassle of uninstalling and reinstalling the whole thing. Then it did the exact same thing 6 months later! Luckily, I kept my spare and took it to an exhaust place that used a torch to melt the flap and get it out of there. Now I just have to go through the faff of replacing it AGAIN! Buyer beware.
