    I think one we could all use is how to tie a tie or for those who want to be super fancy a bowtie. And now I know how to make my button ups look dope

    A couple extra tips for fitting a dress shirt:
    Sew the darts on existing seams to preserve the style of the shirt (if you can), darts on side seams are just as effective as the ones on the back.
    Make sure to take measurements for excess fabric in various locations for a better fit, especially if you have a curvier figure.
    Sometimes fabric needs to be taken in in specific places, this usually happens under the bust. This step is usually optional but if you have a larger chest you might need to do this to prevent the shirt from looking baggy.
    *Disclaimer: I have exactly no formal training in tailoring and have learned all of this through videos and personal experience.

    is it possible to hand saw a Dart.. on a shirt. And how do we do it.

    • @SkillTree
      @SkillTree  Před 4 lety +2

      Sure can! You do all of the same steps, but when you would normally use the sewing machine, you bust out the needle and thread and do it by hand. I would think a running stitch would work fine, but perhaps doubled up or some stronger stitch would be more appropriate. Hope that helps!

    Step One: Get in shape... [sigh]
    My beachball-bod doesn't need darts, more like gussets.

    • @SkillTree
      @SkillTree  Před 3 lety +1

      Nah. If you are happy with your body shape or if it is just how your body naturally is, no need to change it! All body types look better with clothing that flatters them. I read that those with larger frames benefit just as much from adjusting the fit of clothing. Helps to define a shape and draw the eye in a more linier fashion rather than baggy clothing adding extra bulk.

      @@Struthio_Camelus Lol! After the year the world just went through, I think we ALL have. I myself am a stress eater. Food = comfort! Maybe I should do an ep where I talk about it and mess with diet and exercise. At the very least it would persuade me to stick to a diet and put down the butter pecan ice-cream 😋
