I honestly like these kind of video's because most projects aren't straight forward projects anyway. You'll never get the same tools, workspace, leather, foam, skills as you. So the progress of learning and trying is way more informative then the whole "This is how I do it". Both are good btw!
Thanks for the level up!!
Thanks for the level up!!
feel the ink in hollow part up ?
also, learning to juggle works much better with actual juggling balls, which are like spherical bean bags. they absorb the impact when you catch them, rather than trying to bounce out of your hands
Wait, is this dragon balls like "dragon ballz" as in the kids cartoon? ..ermm.. ok then...
"whole ball of wax" is not a saying, so why would it ever be said? that's just weird
the clove hitch is very similar to the handcuff knot.. maybe worth including in a future escape skill video,, if you can overcome it
Fantastic video! I've actually always wanted to do this, but never did. You make it look simple enough to try. Thanks! And HAHA you used your wife's GOOD scissors!!
blue loctite will hold the threads from working loose on the SB buttons and it can break loose for replacement or moving later
This is awesome I want one...
13:30 I'm confused why you didn't just hit the plexi with high grit sandpaper.
We going to jail with this one
Silly Putty! Silly Putty is Non-Newtonian, so it hardens when you hit it! it's otherwise tacky and soft-ish. So you can embed things in it, then whack them, and they'll stay firmly in place! Great for odd-shaped, decorative rivets, and embossing! If you're fancy, you can spring for Jeweler's Putty or Embossing Putty, but it's basically just better quality Silly Putty...
I have the same bottle problem! đ€Ł
Miniature Barrel! Coopered and all! (you could resin coat the inside, if needs be)
Can white masking tape be used for etching the process or does it have to be black?
Absolutely show the messing around and trying things. It's useful, it's fun and interesting, and it's reassuring to those of us who... well, who learn by doing things that way to begin with.
At 7:49, when you traced over your tooling with that rounded clay tool, you can just do that with the smooth beveling stamp you used. Apply gentle pressure, rub across them to make it more uniform.
I Save bottles tooÂĄ
linda peça.
That extra piece to lock the bottle in with the rope and everything could be an extra weapon. It looks like a rock sling.
Hey man, you need to sell Skill Awards patches or pins or something for when skill-monkeys "level up" a skill.
âI AM THE MASTER OF BUTTONS! Love and fear me!â đđđ
im sorry but your links have spoiled lol
When I was younger I had those fake nailsâŠbut no adhesive. So to fix the issue and fulfil my 10 year old vampire fantasy, I shoved the fake nails into my gums until they stayed (they bled a lot) so PLEASE donât do that đ
Awesome đ
For the core, I wouldâve done it like a candle. Or a plum line, where itâs held straight and away from the walls on all sides by gravity itself. The mould would just require a ridged frame secured to the outside walls of it.
i like this , thanks and it looks real good !
I like it when your older videos hit my Suggested Videos list. This is a very simple but infinitely useful project.
I would've trimmed the leather a bit further back from the mouth of the bottle, and finished off the edge by tying a Turks Head knot around the neck. Mostly because I just love that knot. I've used it to attach pens to a strap for my notebooks, its at the top and bottom of the grip section on my LARP bow, its how I've attached feathers claws and fangs to the top of my Druids staff.... <Marge> I just think its neat!
This video was really good You should do more of this stileđâ€
This is so cool! I like how you only bring what you need (why bring a backpack and a tent camping, when one item can do both jobs? this never occurred to me until I watched your video!) I also like how you made it with your own hands and skills and creativity. I also like that it doesn't have plastic in it - I've been going through my possessions and trying to phase out plastic, keeping only the things where plastic is necessary to its properties. I never thought a tent could be plastic-free until I watched this video. You just got a new subscriber! (yes I know silicone is synthetic and doesn't biodegrade, but it doesn't shed microplastics.) PS: does it have a hip belt? I am a little concerned about the toxic stuff you used in the waterproofing stage, but also I think it's a good way for me to become more aware of what goes into manufacturing things... regardless someone is being exposed to toxic chemicals, whether that's someone in another country working in a factory being exposed daily, or whether that's you in your backyard being exposed only once.
These are so cool! I needed a way to carry water that was still in-character for a fantasy Dragon Con costume, so I ended up cobbling together a "waterskin." I found a collapsible water "bottle" (more like a plastic pouch with a pop-top), then went to Goodwill and picked up a purse with a kind of blue-grey faux leather look and took that apart to make a cover for the water bottle. Cleaned up a wooden candle cup from the craft store with some cutting board wax to cover the pop-top, and had myself an in-character waterskin I could use at the con.
Ive been making one of my own following this video this weekend! I've added an extra pocket to the front though!
I freaking love this channel!
One suggestion is to use some kind of cutting oil for your metal drilling and tapping. Iâve even used WD-40 when I was out of cutting oil. It will make the cuts easier, and help your bits to last a lot longer.
Thinking you should combine this with the backpack. For larping events. That way you can carry more. That would be even more awesome
Maybe you could crisscross some strong thread across the bottom of the green wrap through the excess leather. Like a little star of thread.
Your wing dividers are fine, but have you considered a set of Jenny calipers (Odd leg). Also, for the smaller pieces, wouldn't dip dyeing them be better? Always enjoy your content.
As a Leatherworker myself, I applaud you designing your own product. I enjoyed watching this. Love the idea of the foldable leather bowl. The additional pocket you added would be great for adding a couple spare filters. I was going to comment about adding the leather pipe holder when lit, then sure enough you added it towards the end of the video. Only improvement i would add would be your tobacco holder should be smooth side in to allow for easy cleanout/replacement. You may also want to consider adding snaps to the exterior, incase your walking around and your sword falls out, and your pipe bag opens up while walking. Other than that, Great job all around!!!
This is so great! I need a herbology kit for potions, great idea!!! I subscribed!
Thank you for such great content on your videos, I'm just starting on leather crafting and you are a great inspiration to keep on tooling!
Nstead of using a hammer to stamp the dies, you can rig a 2 ton floor jack under a frame and get more force than you could get feom your hammer
I thought it wasn't my style but now I take my works back
a saxophone mouthpiece and reed might work better, and blow easier.
Kms I canât for the life of me connect the triangles
A fair number of sites will NOT allow any glass at all (land owner also runs livestock when its not rented out for events). I found 32oz/1 liter plastic Maple Syrup bottles to be a good substitute - they look like a pottery moonshine jug once you get the label off. Just find a better screw cap than the one it comes with (they used to be brown but are now bright green at Costco). Or cut off the threaded section & smooth out the inside of the cut edge (hot air gun or similar) and make a cork or wooden plug for it. Just make a leather sleeve like the second example, you may even use the neck ring to hold the carry strap rather than attaching it to the sleeve.
You could put a strap across the open bottom that way it wonât fall out. Or if you absolutely had to replace or clean the bottle, you could undo the strap and take the bottle out.
