This is supposed to happen so long AFTER the sky walker saga that they had forgotten how to make lightsabers. This is also the direction that I really hope the franchise goes in. I want to see more like this.

I wish they would just go into these not trying to fit it into the Canon timeline or matching up with existing lore, especially with their surface level knowledge of Star Wars, in general.
It's much more enjoyable if you watch each of these as a standalone experience that just happens to have a Star Wars aesthetic rather than trying to piece them together. When you are worrying about all these other things that don't matter, that's when you get the 10 second delay after the lightsabers are red because nobody understood that that meant they were Sith and had to wait for Ethan to spell it out to you. Then 'she has a black lightsaber?' like she hadn't already used it several times before and weren't paying attention when they explained the saber color thing. Or 'it turned green' when that was a huge moment of the episode showing it changing from colorless to green and also having people make a comment when it happened, but somehow still missing it.

Actually that's not what Vaapad does at all. What Mace does is allow the enemy's Dark Side to "Flow through" him and right back at them, in conjunction with his own strength. He NEVER harnesses the Dark Side on his own, merely basically redirecting it.
This is why Palpatine actually canonically lost to Mace; all Dark Side that Palpatine brought forth was redirected right back at him (Quite literally in the case of Force Lightning). The only real downside is Mace insulating himself from the Dark Side to not be affected and his stamina to maintain that insulation.
Against Non-Dark Siders, he is just like any other Jedi Master.
Against another Jedi, Mace is a strong duelist but would probably lose to likes of Peak-Anakin or Yoda, but against a super strong Sith like Palpatine he would have a field day. It's also why Palpatine had to quickly focus and cut down the other Jedi Masters, as 1 v 1 is the only realistic way he could win in a battle. If Mace had allies, Palpatine pretty much had a guaranteed loss

I assume it's because shit went stagnant and a lot of lawlessness from the former empire controlled planets.
The New Republic had many areas without control as we saw in Mandalorian. I guess eventually force sensitives found Sith temples and holocrons to learn the dark side of the force and now they're back to the "brotherhood of darkness" style of Sith instead of Rule of Two. Maybe we can assume the current Jedi must have learned the light side of the force from Rey's disciples or perhaps Force Ghosts. I don't get how these dudes like Ethan are "Masterless Jedi" though unless Jedi texts and holocrons still survived.

This is far in the future, as explained at the beginning (honestly probably better to watch in English if you're reacting in a group of people), lightsabers have been lost from the Galaxy. In the current canon the colour of a lightsaber is determined by the Jedi's bond with the crystal, but in this the Sabersmith tempered the crystals so that the colour etc. changes from user to user.
This was actually a cut concept from Return of the Jedi, when Vader takes Lukes new saber and turns it on it was supposed to turn red.

I was instantly more interested in this story just from the introduction telling us that this takes place over a thousand years after Luke and Leia's era. And I love the new idea it introduces that if you temper the crystal it will change color depending on the user rather than just being the color the original person manifested when they harvested and activated the crystal. That's a better concept to me and leads to great moments like what we saw here when the gray saber became green or when all the Sith activated the sabers and the weapons knew who they were.

  • @Comrade_Brewski

So to clarify, technically all the episodes of visions are not canon, (as unfortunate as that may be for some of the episodes we see) but if you really want to know where in the timeline this would be, it would likely be during the Era of the Old Republic and the Sith Empire. The connection people make that bring us to that conclusion is the number of “acolytes of the sith” present in the episode, because “Sith Acolyte” was a title granted to the mass number of sith that weren’t quite at the “Darth” level during the reign of the Sith Empire. Another example of a Sith title that was present in the Old Republic Era, as well as the the Era of the Empire, would be the Sith Inquisitors. (Vader’s inquisition was far less intimidating, In both strength and number.) This has been moderately informed Star Wars lore with brewski, thank you and have a good day.

Windu's is purple because he does use a bit of the Dark Side, his fighting style is called Juyo which adopts Dark Side techniques and extra ferocity, that and Samuel L Jackson wanted a colour that stood out, but it was cool that they had Homen's as purple because he was susceptible to the Dark Side. Ironically, Windu isn't even the strongest fighter of the Jedi in his time, Plo Koon was said to have even defeated Yoda in a lightsaber battle, that as well as being one of the Jedi's best pilots, even Anakin regarding him highly in that area.
The opening narration said that this was way after, to the point where lightsabers had fallen out of existence, you could parallel it to Damascus Steel in a sense, whose original creation also got lost to time
Fun Fact: there is one Jedi that had a red lightsaber, Adi Gallia. She was playable in one of the games and was the chief negotiator, in that time the lore was that all sith Kyber were synthetic thus why they were red, Gallia's was also synthetic. More recently the idea of 'bleeding' was introduced where a sith suppresses the kyber with the Dark Side to turn it red, this episode does make a point in saying that Lah Zima tempered the Kyber so its colour and length reflected the user.
I actually kinda liked Kara's translucent green compared to pure green, it did give off Darksaber vibes.

Since the lightsaber has apparently been lost for ages, which wouldn't makes sense if it happened in the middle of the series. And also both the jedi and the sith wants to rebuild, so it wouldn't make any sense if it happened during any of the movies since during every movie either the jedi or the sith are in power. I like how it's explained in the BTS that the reason why this episode, in particular, is longer than the rest is due to there being two ideas they originally created that were so well received, they let them join them into one coherent story. To start off, the sith in this episode are only acolytes, hence why they are weaker, with hugely varying power between them. Also remember ALL force users enhance their physical abilities exactly as much as their strength in the force, hence why the kid was able to fight back against the two weaker acolytes.
Jeda doesn’t house all or even close to near all of the universes kyber crystals btw, it only has a huge amount for one planet, and is one of the many planets the Jedi council used to send padawans for their final trials when receiving their lightsaber.
That being said, the special thing about Jedas kyber is that it doesn’t seem force attuned naturally like almost all kyber is, thus it can be used as a focuser more so than an enhancer like other kyber crystals.
Also in legends, lightsaber actually usually changed length and color depending on who used them and how they used them, in legends and even canon, when not conflicted a user can bleed or attune a kyber crystal near instantly. Either one or entire rooms even if not touching them or seeing them.

Production IG (studio behind this episode) is great. You should react to the anime "Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex." It's incredible.
Also yeah, Mace Windu was known to incorporate some "controlled anger" within his fighting style, which makes his lightsaber purple. He taps into the dark side while fighting, but has control over it. At least, according to what the lore is.

  • @webx135
    @webx135 Před 2 lety

Kyber crystals are generally blue or green (Or I guess yellow?).
Crystals will work better with you based on your skill set. Blue if your strength is fighting, green if it is force wisdom. Yellow I'm not sure, but the sentinels have yellow sabers.
For the Sith, instead of the crystal working with them, they dominate the crystal, causing it to crack and "bleed", turning it red.
In the case of Mace Windu, the actual story is that Sam Jackson demanded an unusual color. But the canon story is that he is actually trained in the dark side, and practiced a controlled domination with his own blue light saber. Turning it purple.
So I mean, I suppose someone who is wise in the force and has studied the dark side could turn their green crystal yellow in a similar way. So maybe that's the idea?
Oh, and then you can actually turn a red crystal back to the light. But it will have lost its identity in the process. So it becomes a white lightsaber.
So I guess to fit this story into canon, if the Kyber crystals were "tempered" beforehand, they could lose their specific crystalline state and thus sync up with whatever works best with the wielder, making it clear until held by a force user.

15:20 note on colors. Green imo represents hope. Hope for s better tomorrow or change is coming. Blue is true good or morals is good. Red is oppress/control others. Purple is speaking in dnd terms is lawful neutral. That character if they expand on him probably joined the sith with he was told/taught what the sith doing and their laws is right for the galaxy and told the Jedi is evil or the ones causing chaos.
His saber started to change when he fought kara and saw her color change from translucent to green. So when he saw that something changed on his views of the Jedi and Sith. Hence why juro believes that person could change to be good and gives him a chance to follow them. There is a chance he may not agree and attack them but juro is taking that chance and HOPE for a better future.

11:40 well to be honest this is something you will noticed. Technology in Star Wars is actually regressing.
Old republic era (about if I remember right 3k years before phantom menace) tech is advanced. High republic have some advance but after years of wars and conquest tech kinda weakened. Then slowly rebuilt up to phantom menace during that era republic but not every planet is that advance. That worsen again when empire took over and start occupying and stripping resources from planets for the next 20 years till new hope started to fight back. After empire fell the galaxy is still a mess even with a new republic formed since ppl don’t trust them or what’s left of power struggles for what’s left of valuable resources is happening mainly in outer rim.
Basically so much shift in power happens that will enhance/weaken different places, new creations could be advance or primitive, resources is scarce to make anything and so fourth.
Fans hoping including me since The Bride episode a third force faction is created that’s more nature focused then light/dark. Cause Jedi and Sith constantly fighting, one takes over and establish these laws which doesn’t end up good even for Jedi. Usually involves occupying areas and monitoring resources or locking/exploiting them.
A nature focus force faction focus is making sure the force of the planet is thriving and it’s inhabitants safe from outside forces. This force faction priority is to preserve life instead of force it to lean to their views like the Jedi and Sith do and governing power since it always leads to them occupying and exploiting the planet and it’s inhabitants.

  • @DoremiFasolatido1979

This episode takes place far in Star Wars future, not its past. Presumably, if one were to place this along with canon, either Grogu (baby Yoda, from the Mandalorian) would have to have been killed, and this takes place a few centuries after the movies, or Grogu lived a full life and this takes place well over a thousand years later.
    .
Because there would have to be enough time between Grogu's end, and the current era in this episode for a generation or two of people to be born that have no knowledge of lightsabers. Technically, it could also be possible that Grogu simply never learned how to make lightsabers, since he might well have always had the Darksaber to use.
    .
In that case, it could very well be that Juro might have been Grogu's final apprentice. And now, with Grogu gone, Juro feels compelled, as he ages, to establish a more formal way for new Jedi to be trained. After all, Grogu could live for centuries and handle everything himself, whereas Juro sees the need for something to continue on beyond his own lifetime.
    .
That's not at all what the creators of this episode were thinking, but to me, it fits.

Well white comes about from healing a bled crystal, purging the negative energy that was put in it. Purple happens naturally after a connection is formed with the owner, though it’s very rare. So purple is closer to being between light and dark

I would say this is non canon, but I thought that this Sabersmith changed the technology (for this one episode) to change the lightsaber to the owner's bond. I wouldnt compare this to Mace or other Jedi in the series.
Also, in my opinion this could have happened after episode 3. Lots of Jedi could have survived, and the margrave said himself that a lot of jedi were killed and replaced with sith. The only thing that counters this is the Rule of 2 but there could have been many masterless Sith just as easily as masterless Jedi.

  • @YOGI-kb9tg
    @YOGI-kb9tg Před 2 lety

this takes place far after the most recent movies as this is the time that we have no jedi order so it makes more sense than before the prequels where disney have made the EU non canon so all the old republic content and old origin of the force is no longer canon and they are also doing that high republic thing so yea for sure its based far into the future when the events of episode 9 have faded into myth and there are a ton of masterless jedi in the galaxy and sith as well

    Spoiler at the bottom
So there have been tons of cannon reasons for the colors of the crystals, I think at first the crystals had their own color, and they connected to the Jedi. Then I think there was a theory where the crystal is normally clear and change when they’re retrieved by their jedi.
Dont know what the cannon is now for Jedi crystals
As for the red crystals, they use to be synthetic crystals. I think now they use to be natural but have been corrupted with the dark side by the sith that took it. (bleeding)
    Spoiler:
White is rare and comes from a crystal that’s been purified from the dark. Like that one old master in clone wars and adult Ashoka in rebels and mandalorian
