Finally Eric told Aaron to shut up at 1:21
According to the Director of this episode he does have ideas to continue this story. So if Visions gets a season 2 I expect a continuation or some sort of follow up.
I hope so, this episode was the most star wars thing since Mandalorian ending.
@@Ivan_Berni I would argue The Elder has the feel of the prequels and the fight felt so much like the original trilogy. In fact, no form of Star Wars media has had fight scenes that felt that close to the original trilogy. The only sad thing is that the fighters weren’t moving to different terrains to try to gain an environmental advantage.
@@Ivan_Berni but I do think The Ninth Jedi is the most deserving of a continuation.
@@Ivan_Berni all of them felt like star wars, star wars doesnt have 1 set path of what its suppose to be, so all episodes from vision could easily be cannon and be star wars.
that would be cool
but not all episodes were good and I don't want just another loose episode in the second season, I would like an entire season of this universe
I love how the kyber crystals being tempered allows them to be an external measure of who the wielder is that changes dynamically. It's SUCH an excellent idea and it being specific to a craft of the sabersmith that I'd love it to show up in canon.
The basic concept already is canon, but is a slightly more involved process. When attuning a Kyber crystal it will shift colors depending on your connection to the Force, but it doesn't change simply by changing hands.
I like to think of it as how irl, steel blades were made historically in different ways; such as Damascus in the mid east, Japanese katanas, and the now main way of forging steel. All serve the same purpose, but all look amazing in their own ways.
Seeing how in the episode that this takes place in a time where traditional lightsaber forging was lost, it would make sense that different ways of forging blades arise.
I love how fluid it makes the dark-light spectrum. I'd love to follow a character for a long time, with the color of the sabre changing as they do.
Kanan’s lightsaber does that in Rebels
@@sunnex474 He and Ezra use a training mode, or did you mean something other than that?
The blacksmith said that he tempered them especially to reflect the users connection to the force. His unique blades could be the only ones that actually do this. Which makes it even more plausible to exist in canon if they ever decided to make something out of this episode. I love it.
This is honestly one of the best episodes in all of Star Wars TV PERIOD!
I absolutely loved the look of the colorless lightsaber. And I loved how they took the meaning of the colors back to what they meant back in the old Knights of the Old Republic, how the colors represent the personality of that person.
I wouldn't go that far, but it is good
I agree
So the lightsabers in this episode are basically the equivalent of mood rings(which can be justified that the sabersmith “experimented” on them). The idea of Lightsabers changing color based on the user is canon but the concept dates as far back as Return of the Jedi. In a deleted scene Luke would hand Vader his green lightsaber but when Vader ignites it turns red.
If it’s in a deleted scene then it isn’t really canon..
@@YourBlackLocal True, though it was an idea very much considered at the time, as for why they decided against it, no idea.
It could be canon as the blacksmith said he turned forged the kyber crystal a certain way to make the lightsaber colour change with the force
i don't remember it being a delated scene but i do remmeber seeing it the comic version of ROTJ
Mood rings? The light inside someone is not what a mood is, the light saber wouldn’t change color is they get angry
This episode really nailed Obi-Wan's lesson, "Your eyes can deceive you, don't trust them."
I swear almost no one notices that his lightsaber changes purple in the same scene that Kara's turns green. Almost a guarantee the next scene he's in "What it's purple now!"
This episode was literally screaming "to be continued" at the end 🙂
I see it more as a pilot for a series.
_The Ninth Jedi_ has everything we want from a Star Wars story, interesting lore, interesting characters and lots of surprises and twists set centuries after the events of _The Rise of Skywalker._ Speaking of the twists, I loved how they handled the twist in the short cause there was question when Ethan and the others arrived at the Station whether it was a trap to kill the Jedi or the Dark Side Acolytes and on the Margrave/Juro's identity if he was a Sith or a Jedi, but when the others (minus Ethan and Kara) were revealed to be Dark Side Acolytes when the sabers turned Red and Juro/Margrave was a Jedi planning this trap on the Acolytes my mind was blown.
It's also fascinating how the Kyber Crystals in the Lightsabers change color depending on the user's personality and Traits which was an idea featured in Marvel Comics adaptation of _Return of the Jedi_ when Darth Vader holds Luke Skywalker's lightsaber which changed from Green to Red.
Even the animation is done by one of the most recognizable Anime Studios in Japan, *Production I.G.* and I really digged the English dub voice Cast consisting of Masi Oka (Heroes) as Ethan, Kimiko Glenn (Broadway's Waitress, Orange is the New Black, Lena in DuckTales 2017) as Kara and Simu Liu (Shang Chi) as Kara's Father.
I do hope that this and the other shorts _The Duel, The Village Bride, The Twins,_ and _Lop & Ochō_ become a full fledged Anime Series, especially Village Bride.
This is largely considered to be THE best episode of Visions. The kyber alignment in these lightsabers is a bit unique(since the caves on Illum would do that alignment as the Jedi finds their crystal). I really love how as she got more confident her blade got more prominent.
It's incredible that with this, Simu Liu got both a Marvel and a Star Wars credit within a couple months of each other. such a great moment for him!
I loved how the droid was depicted. Just something about how they express his worn nature was so well done. This and village bride need to be a full on series.
Out of all of the episodes this is the one that I'd like a series of. I loved the concept of the Lightsaber-Smith, the sabers adapting to the user and just in general this age where the construction of the weapons have been lost and their are Sith Acolytes hunting down Jedi remnants and these Hunters making sure no one resurrects the creation of the ancient weapons.
Plus it probably just had my favourite mix of animation and fight choreography.
You beat me by one week, but I couldn't agree more. Even if it's only continued as a manga, I want to see where this story goes
I need this episode to become a series. I need to see that group going on adventures throughout the galaxy while also trying to find her father
Out of all nine Visions, The Ninth Jedi is my favorite.
Agreed
This is my favorite episode of this season. I love the lightsaber mechanics, and also the lightsaber combat choreography. The twist of the episode was great and I was excited when Kara’s saber actually turned green mid-fight.
I need this one as a full-length series. This one and the first episode were the best.
This was the best episode for me.
My top 3 would be: The Ninth Jedi, Village Bride and Lop & Ochô.
They are also the ones i think could be turned into canon stories.
That's my exact top 3 as well. You tell people that and they go, "What, you hated The Duel and The Elder!?" and I'm just like no, they were great. I just really loved these 3.
@@indecisivewolf5620 FACTS
Those are my top three as well. I feel like they could be full shows.
@@indecisivewolf5620 same
Same here.
This episode took the essence of Star Wars most seriously and really made it their own. They hit a home run by adopting the Star Wars soundtracks and sound design while most of the other episodes tried to do their own thing. Easily the best episode of the whole series for me. I would love for Filoni to pick up on the story of this girl or especially the concept of the color-changing kyber crystals/lightsaber blades based on the user.
Best twist since "No Luke I am your father" in my opinion.
Agreed, Kara is cute and badass and the Margrave is a chad. Dude is a beast.
While everyone loves the story, the lore and the twists let's mention about the droids that stood out in the short such as the Boatman Droid who took Kara to the Margrave as he was by far the funniest character in the short, and Kara's droid companion, 99-99.
I definitely would love to have the type of droid that Kara had cause it's design is cute, helps you with your lightsaber training and imagine the merchandise potential of 99-99.
Never knew I needed to see Droids taking an oil break...
The best episode in this series, this deserves a follow-up!
This was the ONE I been waiting for your reaction. I absolutely loved this story and wanted it to be continued. If a S2 happens, I hope they continue it.
In canon the crystals are colorless until they are found by a Jedi (or maybe they find a Jedi...), then they take on a color based on the connection to the user. So it is similar to this, but it just isn't like a mood ring where it changes based on who is holding it. And I like that the Sith have to ritualistically "bleed" Jedi crystals to basically change their alignment (which is naturally light side) by forcing the dark side into them, which turns them red. Ahsoka's are white because she healed red crystals and they became their natural colorless form.
This idea of changing color based on who is holding it and what their alignment is is a neat idea for a Visions story, and I like that it takes a specific technique by a "Sabersmith" to do so rather than it being a natural phenomena (which would help if they ever want to use it in canon), but I wouldn't necessarily want it in canon. It's a little too much like a mood ring for my taste, but it isn't the worst thing ever either. The creator of this short has said he has a whole storyline planned out to continue where this left off if they ever want to do more of it. This is definitely one of my favorites and I think it could work even as a far future canon story. I'd like to see it as a full series.
I love the fact that the Margrave gave really strong Dooku vibes, but if he stayed good... even his style looked like Dooku's one, I'm pretty sure most of his moves were form 2.
Also, the symbols on his coat and his saber were the same as the one used by Ahsoka when she helped the Rebellion as Fulcrum, so... nice little hint
@@XxJay71xX It’s my headcanon that there were a series of Jedi who did make contact or work with Ashoka during The Rebellion but they wanted nothing to do with any Skywalkers and their bullshit. So they stayed away from Luke and Vader. F from the Village Bride could have been one. They form a kind of underground Jedi Order and almost create a Rule Of Two to carry on the teachings. Juro is the last proper Jedi Master. It’s a cool way to connect everything.
The brown hair sith is Roden. He is voiced by Greg Chun. You guys might remember him as Garou from one punch man and muzan kibutsuji from demon slayer. Kara is also voiced by Kimiko Glenn who voiced Peni Parker in Into the Spiderverse.
Loved the ninth Jedi. Definitely my favorite visions episode.
As someone who generally enjoyed the sequel trilogy this episode is a much better premise for a trilogy than the one we got.
Facts
This lightsaber idea is just so good. Even the purple color reflecting a jedi who struggles to toe the line between light and dark as it's a combination of red and blue. The blade changing based on who wields it is such a great idea. They could totally implement this idea into canon in a different era, past or future.
i love when he tells Aron to shut up lol
0:21 Aaron's point there is basically why I'm glad I watched The Ninth Jedi last.
Easily my favorite episode. This is the kind of Star Wars I want to see!
1:20 Eric says what I'm thinking every time Aaron says anything!
if we ever get a season 2 a second part to this one would be the most wanted
Of all the episodes, this is the one I want a full series about
I heard this was recently confirmed to be a pilot for its own story! Correction: a continuation is not confirmed but the director is willing to make it because he planned it out. So it is only a potential pilot.
Source please?
@@lastudentessa Director Kenji Kamiyama says in an interview with Japanese site Oricon News (translated so original not available) that he planned out the story and the character's backstories and is willing to make a full length feature out of it. So I should correct my comment that this is a potential pilot in essence for now, not that it was green lit.
It would've been so cool if Vader had ignited Luke's lightsaber and it had a red blade or during Luke's rage attack on Vader his lightsaber started to turn red and that's why he stops and refuses to join the Emperor.
This was absolutely my favorite episode out of all of them
The main issue with watching in number order is the show peaks in the middle with this and Village Bride.
*red lightsabers ignite*
Eric: “Something doesn’t feel right….”
This was my personal favorite visions short. The duel got a novel that continued the story so I hope Ninth Jedi gets some form of sequel. Preferably a series. A 12 episode Star Wars anime would be the best.
The director has said that he has ideas and a plot that continue this story. Let's hope he gets to do something with them.
Now I need a Studio Ghibli movie of Star Wars
Watched this in Japanese and when I heard Zoro's VA I expected he'd get three swords
you can't really appreciate Visions until you've watched it in the original Japanese.
@@bcn1gh7h4wk yes, yes you can
LOVE this Concept 🥰
Sabersmith who can temper blade color to each holders Force connection
Seems like the guy with a purple lightsaber was using an imperfectly form of Vapaad. But wasn't able to control it so the dark side consumed him.
Her lightsaber turned green just before the purple changed 7:18 , her lightsaber turning green caused his saber to turn purple and he asked "who are you?".
Ninth Jedi is my favorite episode. It's so good.
God damn I don’t think there was a period of 4 or 5 seconds where Aaron wasn’t talking. Even in the discussion he talked the most but actually said the least 🙉
Was waiting for the reaction to this episode in particular. Was definitely the best of the bunch imo!
Watched this episode for the first time last night and as soon as I saw "Production I.G." at the beginning I was like "Oohh shit's about to go down" 😂
The creative minds behind anime are so full of interesting ideas. This Star Wars Visions series has been so refreshing . Loved this episode so much I want to see a series or movie dedicated to it.
This is by far my favourite of the series! Really hoping for a Part 2!
My favorite one of all the shorts for Star Wars: Visions.
This is my favorite episode because it is the only episode that made me want more
I'm a long time SW fan and after this episode, I would consider the Margrave one of my favorite characters. This is everything I wanted from Sequel trilogy. Just imagine this as the force awakens with the reveal of Luke as the Margrave.
man this episode may be my second favorite episode this gave me kotor and kootor sith lords vibes I like how the kyber crystals change depending on who you are and your connection to the force is a neat idea. I also like the combat and story telling
I always enjoy when Eric tells Aaron or Calvin to shut up
Lol at start Eric telling Aaron to shut up....
It just sucks when it only sticks for a minute or so
this one has the most potential for a full series imo, personally my favorite as well, i wonder if visions was partly a test to see which are most favorable in reception so the hottest ones can be taken for a bigger project
I loved how these lightsabers were different due to how the lightsaber smith created them. Makes you wonder about how that lightsaber smith droid in the Clone Wars made his compared to Lah Zima’s works.
This is probably the fan favorite out of Visions. I would happily help crowdfund a full 12-14 episode series based off of this episode.
I think there had to be a sabersmith in the prequels. A couple Jedi toss extra lightsabers to Anakin and Obi Wan at the arena.
Greg Chun has one of the butteriest voices I've ever heard. It's not as obvious on this episode, but I recommend people look up "Greg Chun reads cheesecake recipe."
Wow i love that lightsaber idea. They need to make that canon
This was the best episode.
I really liked this episode, probably my favorite of the season. I would actually like a full series of this story, I loved how they did the lightsabers and the restoration of the Jedi's and the Sith Acolytes, this would be an awesome elseworld story for Star Wars
This is 1000% the best episode and this should have been the sequel trilogy this is amazing so far into the future no messing up the sky walker legacy cool new ideas with great characters Kara is amazing he droid 4 9’s the margrave slashing people up I would love to see him train Kara and the other 2 guys this should be a series it would be amazing the writer said he already has a story planned out I hope Disney doesn’t ruin it and gives him a show
This episode is one of my favorite.
definitely my favorite, it got my brain thinking of so many potential stories
This is one of my favorites. Also I think the one that should be made into a full show.
My favorite one of all the Visons episodes, it's so damn good.
this episode could really work as a backup prelude for an actual proper sequel trilogy, completely ignoring the currently existing horrendous sequel trilogy, even though this episode is supposedly set many years after Rise of Skywalker.
nah. I hate prequels but cannon is cannon. I will not want anyone to ignore prequels like many wants to ignore sequel trilogy(which I still hate but imo it is ten times better than prequel)
@@MoviesAndTvShowsAreSubjective There's something really wrong with people who likes sequel trilogy over prequels.
@@Psycorde sigh. You do understand that movies and tv shows are subjective right? people have different opinions. I just hate people who don't understand that every movie hits every individual differently. There is nothing wrong with people liking sequel over prequel and vice versa. I hate prequel trilogy but I understand some people like it more than sequel. nothing wrong with that either. Only weak minded people can't handle someone liking some stuff that they hate
This was probably one of my favorites I think it was one of the most star wars ones out of the bunch and it took elements from the actual lore but made it it's own which I liked.
I would definitely watch a series made out of episode 5.
I really love that the voice actor for Redo is the same actor for One Piece's Roronoa Zoro.
The Ninth Jedi has been confirmed to be a pilot for its own show or feature film.
Of all the shorts, this is the one I want to continue the most. Just make it a whole show, don't need to be canon, just a alternate universe and an alternate take on Star Wars lore.
Would love The Ninth Jedi to have it's own on going multiple season TV series,
Favorite story in Visions, simple but compelling
The best episode.
The general consensus I've seen is that this short tends to be the one fans think we should get a whole show about 🤔
episode 1, 7 and this would all make for really good spin off shows
I hope visions season 2 have some animations by WIT studios, it will be interesting.
There are other episodes in this show that were really good and could sustain a series of their own, but this is episode is the only one where I NEED to know what happens next. I hope Disney isn't opposed to giving one or two of these episodes their own series. I wouldn't even mind this being made canon, and just explaining the sabers as being a result of a different variant of crystal or a construction process unique to the sabersmith we see here.
It makes me wonder if transparent means neutral connection, what would be the colors for the darkest and lightest connection to the force?
This episode was my favorite
This one is the best one and would make the best series. First one is my favorite art style though.
this would be great turned into a series
Definitely one of my favorite Visions episodes!
One of my favorites; I could easily see this episode being slightly tweaked into the pilot for a new series.
like hooman looks like endevr even being played by the same dub actor
This would be a great series, they could also add in the character of the Ronin from episode 1 as their search for potential recruits to the new Jedi order would bring them to him....
Best one! I can see them continue this if they do a season 2
I’m not sure if they would continue this story in a second season. This is a anthology series. If Vision got a second season I think we might get more one off stories where anime studios get their shot at doing a Star Wars story. I think this would be better off as a spin off to build on the ideas, characters, and stories.
This episode the most Star Wars of all of them.
I would so watch this if it went to a full series.
My favorite episode. WOOOOOO
For me this is the best episode from Visions and I hope they continue on season 2.
By far the best visions episode.
If we get anything from this visions series I want it to be a show based off this episode or even just a follow up, I’m desperate
This one is 🔥 🔥🔥🔥
One of my fav
Confirmed: Calvin would defend his lady’s honor in battle
