- This was a package I put together for CN2 News talking about "Pepper X" being named the hottest pepper in the world by Guinness World Records.
"For spice enthusiasts around the world, it's time to get excited as a new pepper was recently named the hottest pepper in the world by Guinness World Records.
It's called "Pepper X" and is from the same company that brought us the Carolina Reaper, The Pucker Butt Pepper Company out of Fort Mill."
Question. how do you get a red sauce from a mustard pod?
I’m a bit of a spicy food connoisseur and I tried a sample of one of Ed’s prototypes of this pepper at the Weekend of Fire event at Jungle Jim’s a few years ago, and let me tell you that it was the absolute hottest thing I’ve ever eaten. It was like lava lining my GI tract. I was in severe pain for 45 minutes and I had the shits within an hour and had lingering effects for the next day. It was so hot I had to leave the event. Ed Curry was a very nice guy by the way but that pepper is a straight up weapon. It was worth the experience but I am never eating that shit again.
Yes he's won the Guinness world record and he's pursuing a more deadly strain of chilli.why cant he just sell us some pepper x seeds??for heaven sakes!!

I grow carolina reapers. I don't usually use them directly, but I will grind some up into a powder to use as part of a spice blend, or I might mince a couple up and use them to spice up an entire pot of chili. They also make great additives for suet, since squirrels will take like one bite and NEVER come near it again. You can also just rip the peppers up roughly and soak them in vinegar for a few weeks, then strain out the solids and use that as deer/raccoon repellent on your tomatoes or whatever.
I don’t think people are going to care much for this new pepper if it’s not available to the public .. I prefer choc primo it tastes better then the reaper imo and I’ve purchased both

@@jimedwards4901It's the capsaicin specifically, it's the active ingredient that causes the burning sensation. But only mammals are affected--birds, insects, etc. can eat away just fine and never notice. Which is why it's such a good additive for suet--the birds will keep coming, but the squirrels hate it.
@@Playingwith3D The way you phrased "the dehydrated peppers I grow" reminded me of this girl I used to work with who thought dehydrated fruit was grown that way. As if raisins just naturally grew all dried and shrivel like a mummy's nuts.

apparently stealing each others genetics is a very real thing in the hot pepper growing world. There are millions of dollars at stake.

Pepper x sauce with some added extract to kick up the heat to 3million SHU’s I can do that with an jalapeño that does not mean the pepper is what he claims!
I can handle that pepper and I know some other people that can handle that pepper with no problem but I'm your chili head that's beyond normal level I'm a super chili head
Sorry until this pepper is tested by real legitimate hot pepper testing companies the real chilli heads know of and until the real chilli heads can eat this and compare it rather then taking Ed and his workers word for it.

Being the hottest pepper in the world and being Guinness book of world record hottest pepper are two different things.

@@joshyaash 😂 the heat of his pepper x has been exposed through his 91% pepper x sauce. Real chili heads are trying it and it’s not even a million SHU’s in their opinion so with that being said he’s a fraud! His sauce is being tested this week by a famous Chili head to exposed him as a fraud.

I've heard the breeding story, one pepper was sent to ED years ago that had a certain Phenom he was after. Thru cross breeding he came up with Pepper X...I've seen a few people that were allowed to eat one, reaction. I've also seen someone drink an entire bottle of this Pepper X hot sauce....It appeared to be 500k SHU maybe, definitely under a million.
Wouldn't they be able to test these peppers and the source pepper ? Idk about plant DNA, enlighten me

The pharmaceutical industry is the main reason for making a hotter pepper. Capsaicin is used for medical purposes and a higher yield makes it more profitable. Eating it or putting it in sauces is a novelty that makes it even more profitable.
Until ed gives Johnny scoville a pod and Johnny says it is hot I don’t believe it.
