You can tell that this guy loves his peppers. You feel his passion for the craft and his happiness about the recognition of his work
Not only that, but to also give so much credit to his team, and everyone involved in the process. He's a very grateful person, and it's so wholesome to see those people succeed.
In the video he seemed to take a very secondary role, humbly stepping back when anyone else was talking. But I blubbed when he took the award.
It was so wholesome when he started getting choked up.
Man really cares about his craft and the people he works with.

yeah as an outsider you can almost see it as a little ridiculous at first like dude its just a pepper relax why are you crying over a pepper. but it really goes to show he cares. And you cant take that away from someone. They have that level of passion for a thing you have to just appreciate it. The way he almost broke down crying when he received that plaque really tells you how dedicated Ed is to his team and the product they produce. Good on him for not just not selling out, but for buying in to himself and investing in the cultivation of strong meaningful relationships. I don't speak Danish but at least in Spanish there is a word that refers to the state of being in peak chilie burn "estar enchilado/a". I grew up bilingual Mexican American so when speaking English and having just eaten something spicy I would say something like "I'm fired up!" which was the closest direct translation from "¡Me enchilé!" my kid brain could come up with.
The fact ed, immediately mentions the team behind the achievement speaks how humble and passionate he is in the craft that they do.

@vgrillo69 the Scoville level doesn't increase. That does not mean it's not hotter when you eat more pepper, just that it doesn't take more water to dissipate that heat.

I’ve never seen someone so passionate about peppers than Ed Currie. I love how he gets emotive when receiving the world record and how he thanks his team. Such a great man!
How Ed just devours the pepper X and does not flinch one bit is just nothing short of impressive
Based on my experiences with Carolina Reaper, it’s likely about 30% built up tolerance to hot peppers, and about 70% the fact that he’s eaten this pepper enough to rationally overcome the irrational, but still very real “I am going to die” thing that does occur at these extremes. The body’s reaction to something this hot is akin to a panic at some point. Being able to manage that primal response is why Ed is such a legend.
He probably has some peppers 2-3x as hot in his warchest that only he gets to eat. Man has been chasing the dragon so long, he became the dragon.
This guy must be dead on the inside. And I mean this in a nice way. What a legend!
I’ve got a theory, some people just don’t feel the pain. Some people have bad eyesight, or are tone deaf. Some just don’t react to hot stuff like the average person.
I lived in the same town as Ed, he posts his dinner picks most nights. The man is a BEEEAST.

Eds been eating pepper x for so long it barely phases him. I've seen him eat them right off the plant (reaper too) and he would sweat and breathe a little harder but I swear he really just can't feel most of it any more.
When Ed gets the plaque the first words out of his mouth were in recognition of the team that helped him get there. That guy is a true leader, and that is the reason they continue to reach greatness. Congratulations!

Same! I've been watching his videos lately. Great to see him in the Hot Ones studio.
He's the hot sauce king here in Denmark. We can mostly buy hot ones hot sauces through him + he's a big brand here. It's not uncommon to see Chili Klaus products in supermarkets, including everything from chocolate with chili in it to Christmas calendars and liquorice with chili.
We can also book him on his website for events and other stuff. He's doing well for himself with locally. 😊
On behalf of all of us here in South Carolina, congrats ED! We don't get many people from here that do cool stuff, (hot stuff in your case). I can't wait to see what ED comes up with next.✌️

Bro. I'm pretty sure he has peppers that literally cannot be consumed. The level of capsaicinoids are so ridiculous, it's just outright poisonous.

He did mention that heat isn’t the only factor and it has to taste good as well. I bet he has some peppers that are straight up rocket fuel
@@Somnusrei capsaicin can be refined (pure capsaicin is somewhere around 15-16,000,000 scoville units), there are already products that are hotter than any possible pepper, and we can already watch people consume such items
Ed probably already knows or at least has a good idea of what the upper limit is for a "natural" pepper, but I admire him more for wanting to create something that also tastes good (because we can already make stuff that is hotter than naturally possible, but generally just ends up tasting terrible)
The point where Ed gets the certificate says so much. He is so emotional he can barely speak. It shows how much work and effort was put into this for years.

Being Danish, watching Chilli Klaus (also Danish...) is a treat 👍. He us usually rather calm and collected when eating hot peppers - but he looses it here, forgetting what being "in heat" means in English...😂😂😂.
Even more impressive given that his people aren't exactly known for having spice in their food.
He probably just had one that had a few more capsasins than the rest.
@@zinc470yeah from what I can tell the two others are eating pieces, only Klaus and the inventor of the chili ate the full thing - so for a first time experience of something of this scale I'm very impressed with his composure, and happy for the funny clips 😂

Ed’s pepper X has been in the vault for 10 years. This guys has bred and eaten peppers twice as hot as his current world record. This was light work Ed the Extinguisher. Would love to meet him someday.

My thoughts exactly. He’s been done with this for 10 YEARS, he’s easily made a pepper above 3 mil by now.
Follow up interview he said he wasn’t doing good, lying down with horrible cramps for an hour.
