    I bet someone travelled back through time and stopped the ordor chronos from founding. So the inquisitors did not disapear, but are doing something different now because they cant work in the ordor chronos because it was never formed.

    Time travel became the premise behind the creation of a space marines force I've been playing with off and on since the late 80s. The models I use are all mark I vehicles and no power armor newer than mk 6. There disappearance into the warp before the eclesiarchy became the official state religion and reappearance beyond the eastern fringe with all navigators killed resulted in there descendants returning to the imperium in the 40th millennium and in them not accepting the authority of the high lords of terra nor the eclesiarchy, initially mistaking a cathedral world for one under the control of the forces of chaos and attacking it. It was primarily an explanation for using imperial forces against other imperials in tournaments and still using all my old miniatures and models in later editions of the game.

    You guys still have not integrated the book "Death of Integrity' into your STC and time travel lore. When the Earth was trapped by Warp storms during the ~23K millenium, 2 starships were constructed to travel to a point in time when the warp storms didn't exist and could travel elsewhere. Built at the zenith of the golden age, the ships were capable of both time and intergalactic travel, although they did not have much control over the time travel - still, it was new and the STC was still learning how to control it. The STC says they traveled to the beginning of the universe and the far future where they saw something that caused the captain to return to our time with a warning of what catastrophe was to come. The Stone ship, the Spirit of Eternity, (a stone ship is a ship controlled by an STC - STCs were navigators and could pilot the warp without the Astronomicon) contained standard templates for all technology at the time, including time and intergalactic travel. See my video on my analysis of the STCs - the facts are correlated over the 30 years of books. Both ships were lost to the Imperium (the second 'doomed' starship should be coming out in a story in a few years), but the STC in the Spirit of Eternity was a fully intact, functional non-corrupted STC. Of course, it was very likely insane over the death of it's captain (who I believe was one of the golden men - what else would you call someone who had an STC under his control?). As a side note - the Magos in charge of the expedition did download a 'sizable fraction' of the STC database before (...I don't want to spoil what happened...), although this sounds like less than 1% of the total... And if you want to know the most likely source of the Primaris Space Marines suit template, check out my video (hint - it's from an STC).

      And there's Rumours among the Mechanicus that Belisarius has beaten the Spirit of Eternity in a battle of wits.
      The idea of the archmagos having control of a ship with an intact STC and time-altering powers to himself is... Interesting.

    I'm pretty sure there was an Ultramarine squad that travelled back through time. They found an ancient Ultramarine outpost on a planet that had never been visited by Ultramarines. Not sure what book I read that in. It's been ages.

      @IshikawaGoemon Před 6 lety +1

      alejandro salinas vega Maybe. Though I think the one I read want a Ventris book. The one I remember, the squad winds up finding out they were the ones that built the fort or something. Bootstrap paradox, if I remember right. I need to dig through my books.

    I've long thought that Time Travel would play a part in the end of 40k. The Imperium fails, Terra falls and the Emperor is killed.
    Then we cut to this day and age. The Master of Mankind opens his eyes and sighs. Then he begins to plan again, this time with no mistakes.

  • @NightlingGaming

    Quick note here:
    The Chaos Gods DO know how to go back in time. There are the Anathame daggers, and Arahim had to go back in time to recover a shard of Magnus.
    "The shard of Kadmus, representing Magnus's quest for lost knowledge, found on Terra deep within Mount Cithaeron in the past[16c]. Ahriman had to travel into the past to reclaim the shard.[16c] This shard came to the aid"

    I just love the way 40K is approaching the time travel. Usually time travel ruins any sifi story and the logic of it but this way anything is possible. anything can be altered and the only one to really control the flow of time is the author.

  • @MrJedimedic
    @MrJedimedic Před 4 lety

    Controlled time travel FORWARD in time is actually very simple. Using high velocity craft and time dilation, you could cause whatever to appear whenever in the future.

    The Golden Age of Technology also saw the use of temporal weapons. I don't recall the book, but the Mechanicus found a vessel and used it without knowing what it was - this was a trio of books that went into the Halo sector (?). When attacked by Eldar forces, the vessel employed a hidden weapon (it has an artificial intelligence that activated it - it does not seem to be an STC - it does not follow the goals of an STC). The weapon is a temporal weapon that shifts some of the material within the area of effect a few picoseconds into the future which annihilates both particles if other particle happens to be in the same space. This type of weapon bypasses any void shields and is a capital ship killer. What's interesting, and typical of true technology from the Golden Age, is that as a secondary effect, it creates a temporary black hole in the target area, which should pretty much kill off any escort vessels.

    What if the "Old Ones", the race that created the Eldar and precursors to the Orcs, used to time travel to travel back in time to the home world of the Necrontyr before the War in Heaven ?
    Depending upon how you want to run this thought experiment...
    The Old Ones could:
    1) interfere with the evolution of life such that mo lifeforms of any kind arose at all - effectively sterilization
    2) interfere with the evolution of life such that no intelligent life arose
    3) during the evolution of life, construct a series of in-orbit radiation shields protecting the Necrontyr homeworld - in effecct turning it into a nature preserve / kind of zoo for sapient species.
    Regardless of which option chosen, I see these outcomes:
    1) no "War in Heaven"
    2) no need for Eldar and no Eldar fall to chaos
    3) no Orcs
    Fast-forward to the Age of the Imperium... Humanity might find a fairly civil, well-behave galaxy.
    In this alternate time-line, Humanity might be the one the triggers the birth of the Chaos gods in a far future, say Millenium 1 Million.

      Yeah Ravenor did it, there was also Horus travelling back in time in spectral form to the moment the primarchs were scattered, a fight over a space station that was one of 3 powerful artifacts that could take people in to the distant past, and Cypher is suspected to be a time traveller travelling backwards along his own timeline. There is also a Necron Chronomancer who has the tech to travel within his own lifetime.

      Noah Schneider No problem. It's not like I were some grammar-nazi freak. I agree about all the hypocrisy, that dwells in the Imperium. When World Eaters slaughter a planet - it is heresy. When the Space Wolves do the same for the lulz (oh, I mean, TEH EMPRAH!) it is an act of mercy to a dying world, that is corrupted and doomed. I just hope that Abaddon will be as sucsessful as Archaon.
