This is Jim Harbaugh we're talking about. They don't need top time receivers. They'll primarily be run focused, and at times even go to jumbo package. Herbert's going to become a play action QB that takes advantage of the overcommitted box.
That's such a waste of Herbert's talents tho no? If your going to do that why spend 60 mill on a qb?

As much as I loved Keenan it’s a smart move on their part. Chargers for many years have signed old people and never get younger faster talent. This is a good move for both parties.

Look at Pete Carroll, he knew who to draft because he was watching film of the guys that are about to enter the draft, played against them, and knew who was good and who was fluff. Harbaugh is in that same zone.
Harbaugh should already know that Ekeler and Allen are great weapons
Did you see ekeler last season? He was a shell of himself and slow. Keenan was going crazy last year though

I don't see Herbert as an RPO guy. He is more of a pocket passer even though he can scramble. However, he doesn't have the elusiveness of Lamar Jackson or Colin Kaepernick to be a running threat.

Lamar Jackson developed nearly as much in 1 yr wo Greg roman as he did in 4 yrs with him as OC, Roman wouldn't let Lamar change plays or go thru his progressions, didn't develop jackson as a passer, Herbert is going to regress this yr especially wo his main targets

what they aren't saying is the chargers asked keenan allen to restructure his contract so they can retain and fall under the cap ...and he said no ....so rather than release him they traded him to get something in return. If ya guy says no and you need to get under the cap you gotta do something.

As a chargers fan I really hate to see ALLEN go but I also heard he didn’t want to rework his contract. And for that I understand why we had to move him. It sucks but as a chargers fan we really have to embrace what Harbaugh is trying to do. That’s the only thing that’s giving me hope right now. When Jimmie Johnson traded Herschel walker, everyone thought he was crazy until super bowls followed

This is because they have that much confidence in Justin. Since he is supposed to be so good.
There is so much WR talent coming in the league and will be available next year, draft some guys then fill in the holes with cheap veterans. Guys like Puka are coming up more and more. You don't need to overpay 30 year old WRs anymore.

Shady has a point. Every team needs veteran presence for almost every position group whether it's wide receivers or linebackers, etc. As a Niner fan, Emmanuel Sanders comes mind where his presence made the rest of the wide receivers better on the Niner team.
Good pickup by the Bears to help whichever QB they go with.
LAC clears some cap and see what they get with Nabers or Odunze.

This is going to be a mix of the ravens and lions, that is what I think we'll see from Harbaugh. He'll model the run game after the lions, and he will play to the strengths of his defense. He will run his style of offense which is ground and pound, and when a play needs to be made, that is when herbert will be relied upon. That way herbert's also not beat up come playoff time. Expect the WR room to be similar to the ravens too, at least for this first year while the guys are still developing. Expect this rookie WR who I expect to be nabers/odunze to come in and be instant playmakers, kind of like a zay flowers. Expect palmer to be your steady guy like OBJ. The X-factor in this recieving room is QJ. The direction of this reciever room will rely on QJ's development this year and how this rookie performs, whether it's coming right out the gates like Puka or just showing flashes here and there like Addison
Strangely enough, the show operates much better with Joy as the host/moderator
They should draft Brock Bowers. Marvin Harrison, Rome Odunze, and Malik Nabers are beast, but Bowers is a monster.
This is very simple, clear up some money for the future. And the point is the future, Kenan Allen is not in the future, and he justin does not need to be Tom brady, he needs to learn how to make his throws count. I love it, bring in the future wr's and let them develop with franchise qb without always looking to telegraph the ball to Kenan to bail you out, I can't see justin developing in the offense with a handicap by the name of Kenan allen.
You know when Jim Harbaugh was there I said for sure that the Chargers would at least make the Wild Card. Now im not so sure. This puts even more pressure on Quentin Johnston to stand out this year.

Exactly. Besides, I believe the time for highly paid (20+ mil/y) WRs is coming to an end. Tyreek Hill's fabulous but pointless 2023 season is putting an end to it, and showing that the greatest WRs are just a sideshow. They can't make miracles happen. 3 of the 2023 conf-games contenders had cheap and/or rookie WRs delivering just great. The WR market will follow the RB market: sharply down. The focus, and the big bucks, are shifting towards the less glamorous but key elements who make it all possible: the OL/DL men. Peace, William.

Everyone loves overreactions, they have a top 5 pick in every round of the draft. Reload. They have huge odds to draft MHJ or Brock Bowers. The RB and WR class is loaded this year. They're making smart moves freeing up cap and putting as many dudes on a rookie deal as possible to compensate for Herberts annual cap hit.

They weren’t winning with vets and having herbert throw the ball 50+ times a game. Like the one dude said the plan isn’t to go 4-5 wide. I think Harbaugh has a plan and is putting that in motion to execute it and honestly…they’re in a division with the chiefs…they’re praying for a wild card spot every season.

They have no chance at MHJ, Cardinals won't trade out of the pick 100 percent, and they want one guy, MHJ.

KA hands down is one of the best WRs in the past 10 yrs. However he wasn't the "take it to the house" type of player. I'm looking forward to see if we get a rookie WR like Harrison who can catch the ball and take it all the way!! It's going to be interesting to see what happens.
People have no idea how much of a safety blanket Keenan Allen was for Herbert. Keenan is an ELITE of ELITE route runner and would be WIDEEEEE open majority of plays. They didn't only lose Keenan, you lose Mike Williams as well.
And im expected their offense will get better just because they added Harbaugh, but got rid of Herberts top 3 weapons? He's not Mahomes man, every other elite team has elite WRs
People are almost blaming Herbert, like he hasn’t performed well, but been on a team that has been horrible at defense since he got there no matter how much talent they have, and a team that has been injury prone more than I’ve ever seen a team be injury prone. They should have kept Allen.
If we could tell the difference of chiefs offense without tyreek despite still having Kelce we’re definitely going to notice chargers offense missing every offensive skill player that Herbert mainly threw to especially if they downplaying the urgency to get some star power like TJ and JJ was.

When NFL teams were analyzed for salary cap vulnerability, the Chargers ranked three up from the bottom, 28/32. They carried way too many bad contracts. Something had to give. Bosa, Mack, Allen, and Williams would have been cut had it not been for the cap boost. They chose defense over offense. The person responsible for those bloated contracts should be fired if he hasn't already.
