I was never a Jackie Kennedy fan until I watched this video. Some people do suffer profound loss. My ex-mother-in-law , her name was Patricia Jones and she lived in Longview Washington, was one of those. In her life she outlived both of her husbands, two of her four children, and two of her eight grandchildren. Including my middle daughter. She was an amazingly kind, and compassionate woman. Even after I left her son, she was always there for me. She died in November, days before she would have turned 93. I will miss her forever, at least until I am blessed to c her again.

My mother suffered great loss as well. We lost my youngest brother when he was 16; oldest brother at 30. Just weeks before my oldest brother died, my mother lost her beloved father. Then my mother discovered my father had a one-night stand with my mom's brother's wife. She divorced him. She died a year later.

I cant listen to Ron Guella's justification in stalking a traumatized widow and her children, then dragging her to court. Vile, absolutely vile.
I read that he even managed to date Jackie's maid so he could find out about her comings and goings.

As a child when JFK was assassinated, I wrote a letter to Jackie and she responded with a signed photo of JFK. I saw her as a role model after that and it remains today. The strength she showed after John and Bobby were killed was the way I saw to help me through life. She was a strong woman and I had total respect for her. I hope she is resting in peace today.

These two women were extremely privileged. They grew up during the depression with great wealth having no idea what hardship even meant and that naivete continued their entire lives. I will always love and admire Jackie, but her world was very different from most of us.

Money can get you into very private and very expensive restaurants, it can buy you some very expensive therapy, you can pay the massage therapist and the hairdresser to come to your house, you can sleep all you want, you can take a pill to get happy and then put on a very expensive dress and go to the opera or a dinner party. So let's take away the money and see how graceful and elegant a widow can live.
Jackie was an accomplished young woman who for her age handled her husband's assassination with grace . She was only 33 years old. She won Americans hearts renovating the White House , tracking down original pieces that belonged to America's home. We were heartbroken for her children, her and ourselves . Watching Jackie raise her children , pursue her career gave many women hope and a role model. She was a strong woman , a wonderful friend and a outstanding mother. History will never forget this gentle soul that lived in our time.
Jackie attended the highly scholastic Madame of the Sacred Heart Schools where languages were encouraged beginning with Latin!

She taught her daughter's to marry for wealth and status only too. Learning to love the man was easy with a millionaire who is busy working his businesses and the wife busy spending said wealth organizing dinners and spending. Jackie's father was heartbroken and started to drink losing his wife and children, after losing his own business. Great and classy stuff to teach your girls. What's the difference between the mother and a professional walker. 🤔
She wasn't all the world was permitted to see. Jackie only shared what she carefully crafted to be her image. In truth she wanted to divorce JfK after losing their first unnamed child. And in 62 had contemplated it as written in her diary and told to close friends. She married for wealth and described herself as a "sad little housewife" the very thing she promised herself she wouldn't be. That's why she worked as an "editer" or "the camera girl.." for one entire day only. Had heard of John and pushed for a set up meeting with him at a friend's house, the future God parents of John Jr.

To say that Jackie Kennedy was a very fine person is a big time understatement. After the president's funeral she received letters from all over the country,
from people pouring their hearts out of how much grief they felt for her and her husband's death and how sorry they felt for her,
that now she's a widow who will raise two small children without their father. Jackie Kennedy wrote back -personally, to every one of those letters she got.
The main reason she did it was because she was trying to help each and every person who wrote to her, with their grief he or she was suffering from because of her situation.

What else was she to do!?? You can only play with the children for so long...Jackie was indeed strong but she was also ruthless when she wanted her way, so much so that she had a known affair with a very married Bobby, brought together in grief. And then married her sister's ex boyfriend Onassis, whom Lee still was seeing..only for the money..again. Later the diamond dealer who was still very married, and she just didn't care who she hurt. Quote a cold and strong facade in the woman.

Jacqueline had an interesting and incredibly tragic life. I’m grateful she never knew that her son would die so young… 💔
Jackie lived a selfish, vain life of decadence. Her goal was to climb the rungs of society as high as possible, marrying wealthy men in the process. That was her biggest aspiration in life, marry someone wealthy. Despite the tragedies she had a great life overall and was well aware of the price that had to be paid to be where she wanted to. Given that lots of money was her goal, it was a huge risk that paid off well for her.

Back in the '80s I had a bartending gig at a deb party at The Saddle and Cycle Club on Chicago's lakefront. I can claim to have experienced the height of ostentatiousness. In 1986 while in NYC a Brown University grad coworker introduced me to his friend John. Only after parting company did I realize I had just shaken hands with JFK, Jr. He was a very gracious guy.

She was an icon, a true class. Even though her life was full of tragedies, she remained strong.
We all have tragedies but the rich have theirs in the lap of luxury.

I adored Jacqueline. Since I was a young man I've been fascinated by her strength, her elegance, her smarts, and of course her stunning beauty. She died May 19th 1994, my 38th birthday. And that was the first and only time I've ever cried over any celebrity's death. I honestly loved this lady.

I think that photographer is quite disgusting. There's more to life than money and legal rights. There's decency and empathy. He added to her difficulties enormously, when she had lost so much. He should be ashamed.

For some strange reason the Photog was fascinated by a rail thin middle aged woman who could help him make a few bucks. Jackie paid for dry cleaning & all by check hoping people would want her signature more than their payment. Jackie got off easy in NYC. If Secret Service was late getting to Caroline’s school many got stuck waiting. Jackie & clan were more problematic than any one man.
I only met her once , on Martha's Vineyard, a year before she passed but Mrs. Onassis (as we respectfully called her ) had a unique presence. My back was turned, nobody else was around, but I sort of felt something different about this woman before I saw her. It was only when she spoke that I was certain who she was. This biography is the kindest. She deserves it. Very nice lady.

Sorry this Doc.only spoke about the obvious "white washed" story of them all..was terrible so much of the whole interesting story & history of all of the characters here are left completely out..sad..really omitted completely..

This was an interesting perspective of Jackie O’s story, but I agree with others that the story could and should have been focused more on talking more about Jackie and Lee, and it would have been nice to hear more about Lee - yes, she is Jackie’s sister (her legacy as was pointed out)… but the reason we tuned in was to hear more about the two sisters separately and together. Jackie’s story has been told many times - how she married Onassis, etc … I wanted to hear about the sisters’ relationship, etc … about Lee at the White House. And a bit more about Lee after Jackie passed - did Lee have a good relationship with Jackie’s kids? Jackie died before JFK Jr … but how did Lee handle? An interesting topic … but would have loved more with the two sisters.

drew barrymore is in a movie about lee. lee & their mom depended on jackie & used her horribly as they were living in destitute cuz they were lazy pigs, rats in a hovel didnt bother them.. it took several years to clean & repair the place after the county took it over. lee used antique coins to purchase booze. just a waste of resources.

The statement that, "jackie never got the credit she deserved" couldn't be further from the truth! I was 7 yrs old when JFK was assassinated and even at that young age I was so worried about how this unique women would cope. Her grace, dignity, brains and how she managed herself and her childrens upbringing is, in and of itself remarkable and admirable.
Jacket Kenney-Onassis did recieve the credit she deserved. I love you Jackie & you are sorely missed by all who grew up during that time period in history! ❤

has always fascinated me. We raised pigeons once...Birmingham Rolling pigeons which tumble down
from sky while flying in tight formation called a kit, flipping all the way but they are not supposed to hit the ground only usually 3-5 tumbles per attempt... # attempts important!
They are judged by how tight a formation they fly, the amt of tumbles the do and how often.
And do they know to land in a kit (which is the group they fly in); all together between 9 & 12 mins...the closer to 12 the better! Now when you don't have enough birds that tumble at same
time...then you want to watch to find a male and female that could be. mated that tumbles well. Lotsa observing required! When you decide to mate you see if they even like eachother (sometimes they are indifferent)...but pigeons stay together dur child rearing. So the cpl
mates,has two babies and the male baby grows to maturity and the female baby too. The male offspring
goes with it mother and the female
goes w. the father to produce the super characteristic you are looking to get, Then brother and sister have a go to lock in that gene.
So knowing this I have my eyes open to human characteristics. Of course it is more difficult to do w. humans cuz we have prohibitions.
Eg. what will happen to my 3 red haired grand-daughters when they marry. They have red haired parents!

It gave a good narrative of the two sisters, focusing on their relationship with each other and their mother.
Yes, that was very interesting. Another good book is- "The Fabulous Bouvier Sisters: The Tragic and Glamorous Lives of Jackie and Lee". By Sam Kashner and Nancy Schoenberger.

i was 2 in 1963, President Kennedys funeral is my first memory. I remember my mother sitting in a chair crying watching our tiny black and white tv flickering the funeral. I remember climbing on my mothers lap drying her tears .

So much tragic happened to this family. Poor Caroline left with her whole family gone. Luckily she has cousins.
And she still has Aunt Ethel! That woman is indestructible. She has -- so far -- outlived her husband by 55 years.
And her children and grandson.
It's quite unfortunate to emply the paparazo in this documentary. Those people are one of the worst kind of people and he does not deserve a spot light or monetary gain. He had no shame, no empathy, no remorse.
She was a good wife
My mother was impressed by Jacqueline Kennedy and named me after her when I was born in 1960. I never really appreciated my namesake, always judging her because she seemed to accept & condone her husband's womanizing ways. I considered her weak and submissive.
But, the more I learn about her, the more I have come to realize her true intelligence. She knew when to remain quiet and stoic, and when to advocate for the people or issues she found important. She was fiercely protective of her children and raised two seemingly humble kids despite the advantages of privilege. Privacy was extremely important to her and she shunned fame during a time when self-promotion seemed commonplace. While tragedies could have easily drowned her, she found ways to persevere. Even in death, she remains iconic and largely thought of in a positive manner. As far as namesakes are concerned, I think I may have hit the jackpot.

You certainly did hit the jackpot. I always wished that my name had been Jacquelene! I was a little girl when Jacqueline was in the White House and she became my role model for the rest of my life. As a matter fact I moved to Newport, Rhode Island. Her mother, Mrs. Hugh D Auchincloss, still lived at Hammersmith Farm which also served as The Summer White House. Apparently the mother and daughter had a great dispute about the sale of the property because Jackie did not want it sold. I had the privilege of meeting people who remembered Jackie. The handsome young John Jr. would come to Newport and spend time at the Windmill on the property with selected friends.
From what you have written I see that you give a great honor to Jackie’s name. You have come to understand and know her the way she should be remembered. Jacqueline did so much for so many charities but she wanted no publicity associated with her generosity. As a matter fact, her friend, Gloria Steinem told her that she should let people know that she is doing so much for charities. Steinem felt that it would change people’s negative attitude toward Jackie. Jacqueline said no! 👑
My middle name is Lee and so was Jacquelines so I did get some of it even though I was already born before she was in the White House. I did attend the church where she was married when I lived in Newport.

She and John had a farm or estate there and she used to go to Middleburg, riding horses mainly, I think -- it's a famous horse-farm town -- when they lived in DC, which is only an hour away. I grew up in Amagansett Long Island, not very far from their house in East Hampton. I remember someone pointing it out to me when I was young, and saying, "That's the house that Jackie Kennedy grew up in." I often rode my bike past it when I was a teenager. It was a very beautiful mansion near the ocean, setback from the street with a huge front lawn with many trees -- very beautifully landscaped, and with many other mansions around it. My friend lived right across the street from Jacki's very eccentric aunt, Edith Bouvier Beale, and her daughter Edie (Jackie's first cousin?) at Grey Gardens, the completely overgrown decaying mansion in another section of East Hampton -- almost right on the ocean . . . the Maysles brothers made a wonderful documentary called, "Gray Gardens." I used to look out my friend's living room window and see Edie in her window sometimes, late at night -- it was very spooky. She may have been watching us because there were no curtains in my friend's living room and we used to sit right by the window. The Beales were shut-ins --completely isolated.

I remember her so well. She had a role to play and played it to beautiful perfection.
Even to this day her sense of classic fashion, never wearing prints etc. still has a huge influence on my style.
I was just a kid when I first read about her and her influence on me was to learn languages and read widely, and later to entertain with style and consideration for the interests of my guests. The fashion aspect was very attractive, and I like nice clothes as much as the next person, but it was her drive for accomplishment that inspired me. I became multilingual and still read widely to this day. And although I do my own cooking, which I doubt she did much, I am said to set a gorgeous table with very fine food!
Read several books about Jackie Kennedy. The Onasis marriage was advantageous for both in the short term.

Interestingly, there was no mention that Maurice Tempelsman was married. Jackie and Maurice had an affair for four years before he left his wife of over 35 years, and he never did divorce his wife. Several mentions regarding the affairs of the sister, but no mention of Jackie’s…….
They completely glossed over their relationship after Jackie married Onassis, who had been in relationship with Lee. Did Jackie do it on purpose to hurt her sister? Or did she just not care? Did the sisters still speak and have a relationship with each other after that marriage? Jackie was selfish. Lee must have been devastated. I sat next to Lee in the hair salon at Bergdorf Goodman in the early 80's. She was very scrawny with very thin hair and bald spots they artfully covered I remember.
Even so, I think Lee was prettier. I think Jackie was manipulative.

He was married to another woman. How is that ok with the catholic religion ? In this video, it states that she went fully against the beliefs of the catholic faith to marry Onassis, even the priest told her that it was not a catholic sanctioned marriage. Then publicly was companion with a rich married man. Those two sisters made the rounds. And neither one was married to a rich man when they died. Lee should never have taken up acting. I know a man who worked as the stage manager for her run in The Philadelphia Story in Chicago, and he says she was a prima donna and a Diva when she couldn’t act her way out of a paper bag.

I think she transcended the trauma beautifully...after Onassis and the 20 million she received she was free to go to work and not worry about affording a highly extravagant lifestyle. She once said first time you marry for love (and in Jack's case, fame and money, privilege and status), the second for money (hubby was filthy rich), the third for companionship(Maurice and she adored each other 's company and he grew her Onassis settlement into wealth. When she died, she left gifts to those who had been kind to her. She was a true conundrum...loving and solid, introverted, self-centered and generous, superficial and yet exquisitely aware of life's erraticisms. She was a one-off. That family is compelling.

The book goes into the sister's complicated relationship. I think you can only get it used? It was going to be a movie, they had already picked Al Pacino for Onassis then it was squashed. It was probably to risky. Great read, I wish It had been a movie. Maybe threat of a lawsuit or payoff stopped it.

I got a lovely smile from Jackie when I was cycling around Central Park back in 1980. Then another time I shared a small plane ride up to Martha's Vineyard with her and Maurice Templesman. That was in 1986. She spoke fluent French to Maurice. I didn't talk to them because I was too shy.

The most interesting, entertaining, and beautiful of the girls for me is cousin Edith Bouvier Beale from the documentary Grey Gardens. Now that’s a tragic story. Edie was so full of life and seemed to be made for the spotlight, and somehow never really made it like she should have. I believe her mother had a lot to do with holding her back - needing Edie to be there to always take care of her. Now that’s a sad story, but somehow fabulous at the same time.

They had deep mental problems. I think they did the best they could without treatment. The younger Edith was worse off with paranoid schizophrenia. She even set her hair on fire. Sad really but they didn’t suffer much, with free housing and some money.
I have watched Grey Gardens several times and I love little Edie. I think Eadie created her own happiness and she felt like a star with all that confidence.

She was, indeed, our pride, role model, and America's Queen!
