I love that you threw that Leonard Cohen quote in there. RIP, Brilliant Soul.
I'm so glad you picked up on that. Yes--RIP for sure. xo Glad you're here Wilde Flower.
Very pretty.
I love to color.
I'm disabled, I have a connective tissue disorder called Marfan Syndrome. It effects my heart, lungs ,bone structure, muscle tone, eye sight and veins / arteries.
Coloring helps me to relax and helps me deal with pain and things I go through on a daily basis. I always bring coloring books & colored pencils with me when I go to dr appointments and when I'm in the hospital.
I love your videos and I'm very happy I found your channel.
Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us all. Your an amazing artist and an outstanding person.
Lots of hugs😊
Hi Felicia and welcome. Yes I am aware of Marfan Syndrome. I am glad you found me and that you love coloring! Good luck to you--so glad you're here! xo
Dea Lenihan
Thank you.
I also followed you on etsy and added your shop as a favorite
Hi fellow zebra. I have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and also color!
Can I just say: I love your videos because you don’t lecture but just share your knowledge and explain why some things are done in certain ways and leave it to us to chose if we want to apply. That shows respect and I appreciate it. I also enjoy the way you colour and the mix of colours you use. I will try to follow your very useful advice in this video. Thank you.
Cully Howard I’m so glad you told me you like the video. I love doing them and hope they are helpful and enjoyable to watch. Thank you very much and have a lovely weekend!
Thank you for your encouraging words. I recently started coloring with two pens. Then I bought colored pencils and that was extremely difficult because I broke my neck in a diving accident and cannot use my fingers. So I am holding pens in a funky way in my LEFT hand and am diligently working on coloring WITHIN the lines. Practicing and taking breaks is helping and I am FINALLY getting results. By NO means perfect but I am enjoying myself, even with arthritis, and even managed to do some shading on Alice's cheeks, arms and hands in my Alice in Wonderland coloring book. Thanks again for your kind words.
That is so inspirational! I hope you are feeling better. Wish I could see your work. xo
Thank you very much for this video! I've only been on your channel for about 1 month and I keep coming back. I enjoy you that much
Oh that is so wonderful to hear. Hugs! xo
Thanks for the inspirations. I usually avoid my neon pencils, but seeing your stunning flower, I'm on my way to color.
Yay! You are so very welcome. I wish I could see your work when you are done! If you are on FB join my group--Dea Lenihan Coloring Gallery. xo
I loved your tips, the last one especially. I was "scared" to color some pictures when I started because I was afraid I would mess up or that I was doing it wrong (wrong color, etc.). It certainly wasn't relaxing! Then I realized that it doesn't matter. I can do it how ever I want!
Yay! Yes! Yes! Yes! It should literally be just fun. If you want tips etc. it's surely fine to check things out--but always go back to waht you like and what feels good. It's YOURS. Glad you're here. xo
Thank you for sharing this ,much needed advice on coloring.
adriana saucedo thank you so much for your wonderful input! I love hearing from you, it is so very helpful!
I just started coloring this week.I have book marked many of your videos!!!!
This video is a BIG help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want to thank you for all your help with techniques and how to's keep your helpful tips coming.
Thank you for saying Roxanne! I love doing the videos and I really appreciate the input. Happy Sunday! ox
When you're enthusiastic and having fun with your own stuff it really makes a difference. I was trying to learn how to make things look shiny, and someone showed me how to do it. When I posted my first successful attempt in my color group on Facebook I was happy and it showed in my words. The group just loved it. It wasn't the success of the coloring that pleased them, it was the happiness I showed. When I look back on it now, a year later, it really isn't that good LOL but the joy still shows through.
Yay Jean!! Exactly!! Do what you LOVE! xo I am so glad you're here and sharing in this lovely community.
This is the first time I saw your video and I must say that you are so practically correct in all of your advices. Keep on doing these things please, I'm just beginning to learn. And I'm happy doing this, thanks !
Larie Amlap So glad you found me and thank you for your lovely comment!
I enjoyed the neon colors. Your videos are helping me to learn do's don't's...etc.
Tori Snyder Thank you for taking time out to tell me that these videos are helpful to you. That means so much!
At around 6.26 into the video, you're talking about having many coloring pencils, pens, etc vs. not having many... I've done many pictures both ways (using many colors & using only one or two colors) but there's one picture I done that turned out splendid!!
I just used an old school #2 pencil. That was it. The only thing I changed throughout the coloring of the picture was the pressure that I applied. After completing it, I put it in a black frame and showed my daughter. She liked it so well, she took it home and put it on display... where it still sits this very day.
Thank you for the video!! It gave me some things to ponder before moving on to my next coloring project!!
K Graham that’s so great! I love using a limited palette! Thank you so much for watching my video and leaving such a great comment. Stay safe out there and be happy!
I thoroughly enjoyed this video and it was so refreshing to hear you speak about people just doing their own thing with colouring. I've read quite a number of comments on various colouring channels from people who seemed to be getting so stressed out because - in their opinion - their colouring doesn't look like another persons or not as good as another person, its a shame that they can't just relax more and just enjoy the process - I hope they watch your videos at some point it would really help them to enjoy their colouring more. But thanks again for this wonderful video and I learned a lot this evening. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your kind words Helen! xo Feel free to share with anyone who is stressed from coloring--it just shouldn't be! Have a great week. xo
I think this could be because we hardly ever see the bad or even just normal colouring. So many people post their masterpieces that take hours and hours. And a lot of really talented colourists talk down about their own work it makes us regular folk feel like if that's considered bad, I must really be bad.
Thank you dea....this video already answering my question in your other video...thank you so much😍
Keep inspiring
Thank you so much Indah! I'm so glad you feel inspired. xo
Energizing & uplifting ! Thank you for your input 🌈
BarbaraMerry Geng Thank you too Barbara! Yw! 🍀
Best video ever. Thank you so much!
Thank You Your insight is wonderful!!
mary hartman you’re welcome and thank YOU
Delightful video! Seeing your techniques ‘live’ is helpful. Wld enjoy seeing demos on working with a limited palette, say 3 to 5 colors. Will look here to see if you’ve already done so. Many Thx!
Thank you so much Julie! For the suggestion too--I have that planned for later this month actually. Keep an eye out...coming soon! xo
Hello, a little late to the party but ty u much for ur video! Im a newbie and im excited to learn and hopefully be great but im ok with good or fair. Honestly i can listen to you all day ! You have a great voice ! To the beginning I shall go on ur channel!!!!🤗😎💜
Love your advice
Hi Dea :) This video came at perfect time, in reminding me (us), it's about the joy and there really are no 'mistakes', just learning and having fun ... I am unable to do much at the moment as I'm fighting to stay alive and I will!! So this colourful world has become an escape for me (as for many people)and especially because, ironically I was starting to get lost in becoming overwhelmed and stressed about what is the 'best' pencil brand, how many colours, ... becoming 'addicted' almost, to trying every medium and every brand, ... even trying out an expensive set of pencils stressed me this morning (a gift) ... they look beautiful; in a gorgeous box ... but ... I just can't bring myself to love them, I just don't know ... do I use them; do I sell or give them away (& if so, should I get more of my favourite pencil or another medium such as Pitt pigment markers, or try ink and washes, or acrylics or watercolour or pastels etc etc etc?!). Even just looking at the pencils and trying to make a decision (rather than simply being creative), is stressing me, which is ridiculous! I am not an artist by any means but it's so easy to get caught up in all the different Supplies and different techniques we are spoiled with in today's world, many expensive and high quality- especially if watching literally 100s of videos from lots of different artists, creative people, ... even though most are fantastic , one's focus can become lost and the simple joy pushed aside by the 'need' for this pencil or this colour or ... etc. it becomes about 'collecting stuff, and less is actually produced. So thank you for this positive video! I need to let some things go! ❤️
... Maybe I'm also calling out for help in a way in a public way. it's particularly hard when I do love so many styles of art and creativity too. I started with a few colouring books bought years ago, maybe when the 'adult colouring "craze"' started to take off for people to escape into. I see and hear so many people also becoming 'addicted' to art Supplies on CZcams now - sometimes its just a joy to look at them!! I love my Derwent Artist pencils, and other things I'm 'collecting ', but now there are sooo many others I'm finding. I just don't know what to do anymore- it's already saddening that energy levels are usually too low and I get scared sometimes I won't survive .. and yet when I do have some energy as I hopefully get stronger - I seem to overdo it ... I don't want to be stressed by something that is so peaceful. I just can't choose. I've even enrolled in 14 online art classes (drawing, coloured pencil art, watercolour, charcoal, pastel, acrylics, markers and more)! Although many of these are interrelated and many people do use multiple mediums beautifully- I cant possibly do them all (not looking for pity but there is one little overwhelmed confused 'bunny' over here, who loves too many art forms to the point it's stressful budget-wise and how much I can actually create and enjoy ...oh dear. Do you Dea (& other people), have similar issues and is there any further advice or help? xx
I'm so glad this came at a good time for you and YES!! All the info you hear and the pages that are colored with fancy fancy pencils make you feel like you need those pencils to create beautiful images--not true!! I just posted a video using Crayola crayons and I loved using them and the image came out beautiful. So you're welcome and keep on coloring and just have fun!! xo
Dea Lenihan ❤️
Dea Lenihan .. again, thank you so much Dea! Truly, your words also helped put things into perspective xo
YES AGAIN!! When I was first starting this channel I was basically looking in every direction to try and please everyone--the minute I honed in and focused I was much happier! But you are like me--everything is interesting and appealing!
I enjoy a coloring book that is not so busy the tulips that your painting and this particular piece is attractive because you can breathe it’s open and you see the beauty in the shading and be delicate turn on the Leif where if it’s so busy all you see is lines and color I really appreciate this particular page thank you
Jewell Dean Herbrandson-Stokes thank you Jewell. Some of my images are open and some are busy. I like to add a variety to my books. Glad you are enjoying the videos. 🌸
I wish people would put the idea forward of 'THE LESS THE BETTER.' I have full sets of the brands but recently came across the full set of 48 of FC Goldfaber. I love the pencils, started with the 12 set, they have encouraged me to do more colouring, be inventive. I have recently found myself doing pages in colouring books without a second thought when I use to shun those pages. I purched the 48 set and it is the same, only wish they placed the name on the pencil, it seems a no brainer. I do have to consult the FC Goldfaber colour chart and my swatching pages, when knowing the pencil name would be so much easier. However, beginners ask what should I start with and when I started Prismacolor was the thing and I purchaed the full set. After using PC Verithin I realised I needed a harder pencil and how clean they were. I tried a 24 set of Procolour but found them too hard, must give them more of a try. I have the full set of FC polychromos and they are the nicest cleanest pencil. I have coloured a few things with them but I feel restricted in the sense these are the best and I better do a good job with them. Goldfaber frees me of that! I appreciate FC putting out a brand name pencil for hobbyist and beginners in a set the size people need to start of with at a reasonable price. I recommend them to anyone!
Beautifully spoken 👏
First time watching!Your tulips are beautiful along with the rest of the picture. I am so happy I found you. Thank you. I will be back and also check out your Etsy site.
I am so glad you are here! Thank you Donna and have a great weekend!
I wish you would share tips and knowledge of various ways on coloring backgrounds, including choosing colors for it. Many times I don't know how to fill my background space or they look off with my main coloring.
nabi767 thanks for the tip! I’ll be happy to do some. I think a lot of people are frustrated by backgrounds.
Oooohhhh, it looks like Polychromos works well with the Hero pencils 😁👏🏼👏🏼. And I liked your conversation today, caught myself going oh ya to a couple of those, lol. But I am getting more adventurous with my coloring and starting to attempt more complex, extremely detailed pages. So that’s my personal challenge for coloring this year. 😊❤️. The only type I cannot get into is repetitive patterns, tried a few times, I just get bored, lol. But I figure I don’t have to like everything, lol. 🤷🏼♀️😂🤣
crucibelle - Belle Dupont , haha, ya I hear ya on the zentangle point too, not my favourite either. So glad we have so many other choices out there to pick from 😉👍🏼
Tracy Neufeld no way! We can’t like it all! I’m not a repetitive person either...although I will be doing a few mandalas soon...but probably not your typical...and yes!! Lovely with the Polys!
crucibelle - Belle Dupont I like intricate... but in an art/scenery way...
Dea Lenihan , i agree with you there Dea, that is more my taste too 😊
:D
another great video thank you for all the positivity you exude about colorists!!!!
Cassandra Beair You’re so very welcome and thank you for being here!
You are amazing thank you! Those are wonderful and truthful things you said!
Thank you so much! Thank you so much for watching… I’m in the middle of doing a 12 days of Christmas coloring series here on CZcams and I almost forgot about that video!
@@DeaLenihan I have been watching a lot of your videos for the past 2 days and have appreciated them a lot
Also can't wait for the Christmas series!!! I've always loved art and only really this year have I pulled myself to try it because I always thought I wouldn't be able to! But watching you has given more courage so thank you!
Dea I have to tell you that you came into my world at a perfect time I just started coloring and I had to have my leg amputated at the hip and I found you a and I live your work and your talent you inspired me to do my very best and Nicole the new ways and to keep coloring I have to one thing that I really would love to have you touch on could you please do a video on your backgrounds like what you would do and that a kitty picture above what would you do for a background I would love video on backgrounds and I find that very stressing anyways I love your work I love you talent and you inspire me and it's helped me in so many ways xo
Susan I am so sorry to hear about your health issues! But I am very glad that you are here. You are kind of a mind reader! I was thinking of doing backgrounds JUST this morning! I want to do bokeh, which is that effect that looks like orbs or bubbles. I'd also like to do stars and possibly a daytime sky with clouds. Thank you again Susan! I love the suggestions--keep 'em coming. Feel good--best thoughts coming! xo
Oh yes Dea backgrounds of daytime, nighttime, love all your ideas because I struggle alot with the backgrounds and how to fill in around my objects weather be people, flowers, animals or anything
You got it Susan. I have a few lined up first so stay with me--I won't forget!
Susan Neidlinger .... you are an inspiration Susan. Was just perusing through the comments as I often do, and you stopped me in my tracks, so 'calmly' stating what must have been an incredibly traumatic experience. I also have health issues and am fighting to stay alive, so I too am trying to escape into the world of colour and art when able (and some of this advice from Dea (all of it), was great. She's a wonderful person to follow and I admire you for finding something so positive. Keep on going and lose yourself in a world of colour. My thoughts are with you🌹🌈
Guilty of a heavy hand. Need to practice using layers and lighter touch. Second is hoarding pencils. Just started and have 4 sets of pencils, Holbein 150, Prismacolor 150, Blick , and Schpirerr Farben. I think my last purchase of Holbein will be my last set of colored pencils for a while. I think my husband thinks I am crazy! But bottom line I am having fun. I am fulfilling a dream of my since before I started first grade to be an artist. At my age of 66 I find this hobby to be a challenging yet rewarding new skill I can learn and not be limited by my age or abilities. Practice .......!❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love your videos thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much Rose! So sorry I didn't see this comment til now--glad you are here! xo
Dea, my name is Dea too and I am a colorist. I have never known anyone else with my name. Your "mistakes" is wonderful. Thank you
Dea Mathews hi! Neither have I! Glad you found me and happy you’re here.
Great video, I'm really loving your channel Thank you for sharing
lryan1965 I’m so glad to hear that...I really appreciate your interest and input! ❤️
I can’t seem to add light or shading properly. My finished work is adequate most of the time, but it looks one dimensional.
KrisC Thank you for letting me know! I’ll add more videos about cheating and shadows… Thanks for the tip!
Thank you so much
I love watching you. Thank you!
Thank you so much Barbara--glad you're here. xo
Excellent advice, Ms Dea
Thank you very much Gristle Von Raben!
I belong to two different F.B. Coloring Groups. One is artist specific, so all we can do in that group, is that particular artists' books/pages, the other isn't artist specific. What I like about the artist specific group is that we have monthly as well as weekly challenges that we can join in and do, but only if we want to participate. The other group we also have a monthly challenge, if we want to participate. Doing as many of the challenges as you can helps you to grow in your coloring and sometimes it challenges you, by putting you out of your "mold"/ where you are comfortable. For example, one of the weekly challenges in the one group not long ago, was to do a page using mostly a softer color palette. That was a definite challenge as I don't wear paler colors and while I will use a few paler colors here and there, I had never even thought about doing almost an entire page that way. It actually turned out pretty. One of my WIPS ("works in progress", for those of you new to coloring), is from the monthly challenge in the other group, using only one color family. So I've been enjoying doing it, in basically four different colors of blue. So yes, changing it up now and then is a good thing! One of the best pieces of advice I've heard actually came from the artist from the one group. One of he new gals was asking for any suggestions that we could give her to help her get going better. She was kind of frustrated because she saw so many colorists that would use their imaginations and she felt she was stuck because she couldn't do what they were doing. Basically, one of the things she saw others doing was coloring people's hair and animals fur in colors that aren't "natural". We were all giving her different things to think about and then the artist joined the discussion and basically put what we were trying to tell her in simple terms. She basically told her, "be true to yourself". In other words, if in your world you see things as they really are, then color things that way. If in your world, things are a different color then they truly appear, then color that way. If you remain true to yourself and color the way you personally see things then that is where you will do your best work and that is what will make you the happiest. She also said not to be afraid to break out of your mold once in a while though because that will also help you to grow". That is what I've discovered too. I know if I'm doing a flower, I can't just color it however-I want to know what type of flower it is and what color/s it comes in. I was doing a picture last month and that issue came up, so I posted the picture with a pencil pointing at the flower and asked if anyone knew what it was. One of the admin. told me what she thought it was, I googled it and that is what I did end up coloring it. BUT, one of the gals came back with, "Fern, it's your page, you can make it whatever you want". I guess she just didn't get the fact that for me part of my enjoyment in coloring is making my pictures as realistic as possible, especially if it is nature. Maybe that is one of the reasons why I like the challenge of the artist specific group because her pages are fun and whimsical pictures usually of different types of animals and it isn't always practical or easy to do them "realistic"!
FernCurtis I like to draw both. I try and incorporate as many real flowers and plants as I can in my images. I know a few people have mentioned they recognize the plants and flowers and they enjoy it too. I like the idea of a challenge in my group! Thank you so much for telling me about that...I think I’ll incorporate that!
Dea Lenihan -Dea, You are welcome! I've noticed in both groups not everyone that belongs to the groups actually posts their pictures, they are "silent" members...and not everyone that does post on a regular basis, always participates in the challenges. Those of us that do, usually enjoy them because they do "stretch" you, helping us to get better. Glad you really like the idea!
Yes Fern very much. I agree. I belong to a few groups where I just watch. Thanks again!
Dea Lenihan 😊
Great video. Thx.
Thank you Necee! Muah! xo
Hi Dea-was back to review this again. How in the world did I watch this nine months ago and forgot to hit the "like" button??? (Shaking my head at myself)!!! It was kind of interesting to watch it again though. Nine months ago, I didn't fully understand what "doodles" were. Now, I do. I have mentioned before that things in nature or things that actually exist are my favorite things to color. Still are, and that is where I do my best coloring. "Doodles" are interesting for me . One the one hand, they make me frustrated to an extent because I don't know what to do with them for sure. On the other hand, the days /evenings that I am either too stressed or too tired to color, but feel like I need to color, I will grab my sharpies and/or gel pens go to the createspace coloring books and find a page that doesn't have flowers etc or it has doodles and color those. What gives with that? Maybe, it's because It doesn't matter if I "mess" up. Yet, most of the time they come out looking pretty good. Amazing how we are our own worse critic, isn't it? Any way, this new comment was in response to trying things that are new to you to see if you will or will not like something. I will never be a "fan" of doodles, but will continue to color them at times. Still need to tackle doing skin tones and I have some PDF's for that, just haven't gotten to them yet. I have only done one true "skin tone" and considering it was my first one, don't think it came out too bad. Stretching ourselves is never a bad thing! Have a good day!
Fern we ARE our own worst critics--me included. Sorry it took me so long to see this! Happy Holidays to you! xo
Thanks I really appreciated this video, very encouraging!
Would you do a lesson on how to color rocks and boulders? A lot of my books have them as background and I don’t really do well with them they tend to look sort of “muddy” LOL
Debb L yes that is a fantastic idea! Thank you for the suggestion
Dea Lenihan I am really looking forward to it!!!!!🤩
I'll be doing a gel pen giveaway soon so it may take a few weeks because I have several things planned...but stick with me! I won't forget!
To me a "mistake" is something I am not particularly happy with in my own artwork.. It is nice to know how to alter such things to achieve what I initially wanted to happen.. Practice is a great teacher as is watching videos like this and learning along the way. It is also important to adopt the idea that every time you put pencil to paper you must end up with a masterpiece ... but if you never put pencil to paper it is guaranteed that no masterpiece can be produced. : ]
Exactly! I think the perfectionists have a hard time. Maybe I'll change that idea--maybe the people who expect to be experts before they even try have the worst time. Art is HARD! :D
Loved it Thank you.
You're welcome! xo
Thank you ! I enjoyed this video. I joined your fb group . I would like to see an inktense tutorial. I also like color alongs .
erica rogers I’m so glad you like the videos and that you joined the group! I’ll have to give Inktense a try. Do you like them?
I just found your channel and I'm new at adult coloring. I'm so glad you mention about creating colors with just a few colors because I was just about to order several sets of pencils. Right now I only have a book from the dollar tree and a 12 pack of Crayola pencils. 😊
Yay I am so glad you 're here! Make some light rectangles of color, then make another rectangle crossed over the top (kind of like an L) in a different color...that set of 12 can make so many colors! (Kind of like I did on this video at about minute 2:40). I think it is a great way to start. More vids to come! xo
Dea Lenihan Wonderful!! I will give it a try. You are giving me some vibes 💜💛 😁👍🏽
rmcandlelight yay! Muah!
nobody’s talking about how inspirational she was
Wow Beautiful ! Thank you again. I love your videos I learn from them so therefore they are having my interest peaked again to color . I like to have your take on tackling a picture or coloring book that intimidates you. Example grayscale nature waterfall ,a Thomas Kincaid coloring book. I'm not good at looking at a picture and copying it . I try to tackle and it turns out nasty . Thank you again Dea
Thank you for your input Karen! As for pictures, I get a little jittery at the beginning of almost every pic! There is something really intimidating about starting. I am a little weirded out for a LONG time. Some longer than others. I keep working and working, especially if it's colored pencils, they take forever. Then there is point where I start to like it, then I feel better. I always say--if you don't like your picture, you are probably just not done! Take your time--chose ONE area to color and work on it til you like it--THEN move on. xo
I love hearing your birds in the background.=.= I miss having parakeets. They are such beautiful singers.
Awww they are sweethearts. Glad you like it.
Wooow !!! You are a genius!!
I can’t believe this is from 6 years ago. I’ve never used color pencils in all my 71 years, it’s like learning to color all over again
Great teaching - thank you! Kevin - Australia.
Glad I stumbled upon your site.
I would like to know the “rules” for shadows and shading
I am glad you did too Kathie! Sorry it took so long for me to see this. I will do a coloring a shading video this summer for sure. xo Glad you're here!
Hi Dea. I'm enjoying your tutorials. I have many pages that I would love to color, but there is something I can't figure out how to deal with. Could you address the pages that have random, very black areas? Some pages are stunning, but, they will have large dark areas. For instance, in Kirbys books, his gray scale is so black and heavy, if I want to color it a light shade, it looks terrible. Or if I like a crown, but the artist blacked in the gems. It is a pet peeve of mine, I guess. Any suggestions?
Hi Sissy thank you for watching! I would get some acrylic paint and cover the areas first with white paint, let dry, then do your thing! Gel pens scratch off too easily. Have fun! xo
Hello Dea, I happened upon your vids & really like them, I am a novice colorist, only started 2 months ago, Would it be possible to tell us what colors you are using? or if you have, where can I find it?
Marika Reimer I’m so sorry it took me so long to see this comment! I’m not sure I’ll be able to go back and tell at this point but I’ll give it a try!
Very interesting and helpful video which I have learned a few things so thank you so much!!! Just Subscribed to your Channel... Liz.
Thank you so much Elizabeth--glad you're here! xo
I would love to see how you would color the cat in this picture. She is soooo cute !
Crystal Franklin coming soon! 😍
Dea Lenihan Yay! 😊😄
Might take a few weeks. I have a gel pen giveaway soon--but don't worry--I won't forget so stick with me!
Your video and voice are so calming and the coloring techniques..I have PTSD...I have loved to color ever since I was a child..I want to get back into it but I have no idea what kind of coloring book to purchase 🤦😒..some of them have too many lines and make me dizzy
Eugina Bright yes some are veeeeery complicated. The ones I design range from simple to complex.
Eugina Bright and thank you for your nice comment!!
@@DeaLenihan you are very welcome. .I was injured in a rear end collision while sitting at a stop sign...hard to 💤
What do you do if you are afraid to color a page that you love so much because you don't want to mess that page up.I love illustrations and us as colorist we bring the illustration to life.
Lanietira Hopkins happily all my books have two copies of each image, but if it’s not mine I know what you mean!! I have made copies MANY times of art or coloring pages before I start to color or paint. Sometimes I just need to know what one color will look like next to another...so I use scrap paper.
Wonderful advice ✝️❤️🇬🇧❤️♥️
Hello Dea, that tulip is beautiful. I'm new to this adult coloring world. Have some deep childhood hurts around art and bullying. I've purchased some books but have a mental block on beginning. I've watched videos of people doing amazing things and don't believe I can do it and don't want to mess it up! I really want to color a bird, I want to try to capture that iridescent sheen birds feathers have, any advice?
I'm sorry anyone bullied you about art! Shame on them...and more power to you for sticking to it!! I have chills that you are still doing it--I am glad you reached out to me and glad to know you. xo As for a bird--I will do a video for you in a week or two about birds and feather. I love the idea, and I love the idea that you'll watch it! As for messing it up--we ALL mess up! In fact I have videos where I messed up and kept it in the video so people know I messed up. Art takes a lot of practice...especially colored pencils. Have patience and if you love it and keep doing it you can't help but get better. Grrrr! I'm so mad for you! I would have stuck up for you! xo
Dea Lenihan I can't figure out how to LOVE your reply😙 thank you thank you thank you ❤

i don't mean for this comment to sound flippant. you said you didn't think the coloring phase won't be ending any time soon. my immediate thoght was; stress won't be ending any time soon.lol so I thank the adult coloring the phase.
I can't imagine that anyone would think coloring is bad! And I think this nice coloring wave will just keep on going!
What?
💜💜💜💜
Happy birthday!!
Adeline Nicholas Thank you so much! So sorry it took me so long to see this
@@DeaLenihan it's fine. I've been getting alot of delayed responses. Kind of jogs my memory. I need to get back to coloring. I go in spurts.
Hi Dea I just love how you can’t just creat without a tutorial . I get frustrated because I can’t do that. I feel I have to copy something. You make it look so easy. What’s wrong with me?
OMG nothing!!! Half the time I am looking at a reference picture! I have been drawing and illustrating since I was a child--I am kind of obsessed--so I've had sooooo much practice too! Don't ever be hard on yourself--you might be doing something right now that could inspire someone. Be as nice to yourself as you are to me--and find my FB coloring gallery if you like. xo Have a lovely weekend.
I'm not to bad at color coronation but when it comes to picking colors and placing them on the paper to make my picture pop I'm terrible
Would love to see you color animals
finally managed to subscribe
Yay Mary! Good luck! xo
Damn don
Wonderful information. Do you have birds?
I do! I hope he is not too noisy and distracting. :) I go in the other room but he still talks. xo And thank you!!
Dea Lenihan oh no, I think it's cute. I have one that has to color with me. He likes to grab beakfuls of food and eat on whatever I'm coloring
Awwww! What kind of bird do you have? I have Buddy the mean conure. :D
Awesome I also have birds! Love Birds and linny parakeet
Aww. I have a little gray and white cockateil named Booger
Not "two" pens! Gel pens!
Two pens was pretty impressive too! :D
I find they are just like Crayolas
Rose marry rose I think some are for sure. I think some of them are more pigmented, where the Crayola’s are a bit harder across the board
I don't like that you are merely trying to get paid for posting on CZcams. Very little information just a wandering train of thought. If I thought I would learn something useful it would be only if this video was useful.
I'm sorry if you don't like the video, but if my intent was to get paid for putting this information up it would NOT be through CZcams. I feel this information is very appropriate for the coloring community, especially to people who are taking it so seriously that they can't even enjoy it. Coloring should be fun and I try to add to the coloring community.
Tom Tall And you actually have no idea what my intention is. I post these videos for anyone in the world to watch absolutely for free… Including you. If you don’t like what you saw feel free to watch someone else
