  • The paper I used for this tutorial was only computer paper that had already had ink on it. Blending was difficult because of the poor tooth quality. It was only meant as a way to show simple mistakes and not meant as a piece of artwork.
    I used prismacolor softcore pencils. Thank you to my subscriber who allowed me to produce this video. She was a really good sport about it.

    As im watching i see why she had the light source in the middle of the grass the way she did is bc we are told in adult coloring tutorials to color a bend in something lighter or leave almost white like... I see how your saying its the underside of a ribbon but im like ughhhh at the same time bc how the othet lady did thats how i was leaving curves in my pictures and on certain objects it doesn't look right.

    Confused as to how you do this. Maybe it’s the paper I’m working on (Create Space coloring book). If I’m that heavy handed, I end up with a smear of wax. I can’t shade or do anything with it. It’s just globs of wax on the page. I have to be very light handed. If the color isn’t there when I color lightly, I have to go to a darker color. Can’t press down heavier to get a darker color.

    • @ColorMyWorld
      @ColorMyWorld  Před 4 lety

      Create space paper sucks. Eventually you will start getting little white dots as the paper breaks down under the friction of the wax. It's a double edge sword. To properly use colored pencils you have to use light layers and build them to a point where you can easily blend the wax. With crate space paper the paper starts to break down and there is no usable tooth to grab and hold the layers. I wish I could give you better advice except copy the picture over onto a better quality paper or just get a different book with better paper. I can recommend so many to you. I don't buy Crate Space books anymore.

    Hello my name is Hal and I am a disabled vet and sometimes I shake a lot
    with my hands. So I have these unwanted pen marks with gel pens and it
    really messes up my picture and I was wondering if there is any tips or
    tricks you can help me with. I am doing an elephant right now and one of
    my pens smeared so it's a mess. I tried white out but sometimes it just
    doesn't work. Please help if you can thanks

    • @BeardedBarley1
      @BeardedBarley1 Před 5 lety

      I realize you didn’t ask me, but I thought this might help if you don’t mind too much. Are your gel pens water soluble? If so, you can treat them like watercolors. You can use a watercolor brush to wet the unwanted area just slightly and wipe up the unwanted marks like a person would do with unwanted watercolor going outside the lines. If it’s alcohol based like felt markers, just use a colorless blender that is just filled with alcohol and smudge the unwanted areas into the wanted areas.

    I really didn't realize that technique was something people really thought about Wendy did something for relaxation. I do find myself doing a few things to make sure that what I want but I wouldn't call it exactly technique feel like this is for relaxation and since I think a lot at work I don't really do that too much for coloring. I just think what colors would look good and to do it.

    can you talk more about black being an illusion color and using greys? thanks

    • @ColorMyWorld
      @ColorMyWorld  Před 6 lety +1

      Pick a black object near your desk and stare at it. While your brain knows it's black try to see it for what it really is. You will see colors such as white, grey etc reflected into it. When coloring with black you can't just use a black pencil or the object will look flat. In reality I use very little black in most of my artwork. I rather simulate it. I will use the white pencils and the entire range of greys depending on what I am coloring.

    Your tutorial was very informative. I do have to say that you were incredibly rude. Somebody was kind enough to send you their creation, and you disparaged that person. That's wrong. If you wanted to do a tutorial on how to fix mistakes, you could have without humiliating the person.

    • @ColorMyWorld
      @ColorMyWorld  Před 6 lety +8

      Actually they asked me to do it. I have had a lot of people ask me to do it so they can take their drawings to the next level. When I was in Art school my best teachers would RIP pictures apart, but the next picture you did always did better. Most new people stop too early in the picture. I always tell them, one more layer and see what happens. They do that and it makes a world of difference.

      @@muskndusk There are a lot of people like you. How about this. Pick out a picture and color it. Get it to that point, but this is your secret picture. Nobody has to see it and you can burn it after. Push your comfort level. Throw it up in the air and don't care where it falls. See what happens. Then of course you have to share it with me so I can put it out on social media LOL.

    • @ColorMyWorld
      @ColorMyWorld  Před 7 lety +1

      I don't normally color with gel pens. They get stolen from me by my kids. I reserve gel pens for really fine detail work such as with eyelashes. It's mostly what ever I can steal back from them when I do use them. The markers I use are Ohuhu or Copic.

    BUT, you're very nice with some criticism. Nice, polite and almost pleasant. In the end you end up laughing at the person who made this drawing. You ridicule the person. So incredibly rude. I am embarrassed on your behalf. Shame

      Ingrid Fosse... Yeah. I squirmed uncomfortably when she laughed. I'm very new to adult coloring and have made a TON of mistakes... or are they? Mistakes that is. I'm coloring for my pleasure and I like to see what others do and their techniques but maybe, just maybe, my totality inadequate picture is how I want it. This whole session made me wonder if whoever the sender of the picture was knew that their art was going to be REDONE into someone else's vision. I did learn something, how to shade better and how to perseive light and angles. The other thing I learned was to not share my art with anyone. 😢
