This is a solo bushcraft camp.
I hike and paddle in to the wilderness, I set up camp just as the rain starts, it called for thunderstorms all night!
I show off some gear, including my new forest ruck backpack from thehiddenwoodsmen.
There is a giveaway in the video as well!
I catch and cook a bass for supper, and spend the night in a floorless shelter while in bug season.
I hope you enjoy!

Imagine how many times he walks back to get the camera and moves the camera for different angles
Like Les Stroud
Joe is primarily a film maker, even though he is an outdoor enthusiast by passion. (It's like Google, people think they do search but actually they are an advertising company). I can see him working in tropical forests, deserts and mountains in the future.
Remind me of Suvivior man show! That guy was bad ass too
Joe really out here doing his best. Providing some beautiful content.
haha yeah was just thinking that too dude
dont ever stop being you Joe, you keep my 88 year old dad and my 65 year old self so entertained that we feel that we are there with you. Well done!
I'm 21 and I feel the same way!
Julie Harns. I'm 76 and still go camping with Joe!
This is a proper ‘old skool’ Joe Robinet video!! Informative and a great watch... thanks man ✌🏼
Joe in the world right now when everything is literally unprecedented and falling apart, finding a new video from you is like going home. Your energy is very calm, your voice is easy to listen to and it warms my energy and helps me forget what’s going on for a moment. Please thank your wife and children for letting you go out into the wilderness so that the rest of us can find a bit of solace in what you do. My blessings to you and your family for me and my family in Kentucky USA.
Where in Kentucky is this?
Cowboys MATTER ! I know. I said for me and my family IN Kentucky

I appreciate you being responsible with your fire placement, and particularly for including it in the video. There is never too much to be said about fire safety.
Thanks for the shout out, glad your liking the spoon. It truly brings joy to my eyes watching you use it. I feel truly honered that you experience it as a functional piece of art that can withstand a beating. Hope it will be of great servers to you and will have it's place in your kit for years to come.
You truly rock man, always great videos, the right mindset, great filming and outdoor skills, superb family man, husband and just awesome dad. You're a thru inspiration.
Stay safe my friend and take care.
♥️💯
Beautiful work
@@dorothyculbertson5640 thanks
The shot where you attached the camera to the wood and you carried it was SO COOL!!
The motion made me tree-sick
Felt like he was carrying us with him, love it 😄
I agree. Great shot. Then immediately followed by the underwater shot. Thanks Joe!
I was thinking that Joe's skillz with the camera are getting real intense lately! Keep it up dude!
yes it was cool
These old videos make me feel really nostalgic and I love that you have the morality to keep what you want to eat and let the breeder go.... yo the man Joe. BIG FAN FOR YEARS HERE.
Love it when Joe catches a nice big fish. he just beams up and acts like such a kid makes me laugh every time lol.
That might be the most beautiful spoon I’ve ever seen
When you were starting your fire and the smoke was coming directly at the screen - I instinctively waved my hand, closed my eyes, and ducked ... anybody else - lol :)
I almost chanted, "I hate white rabbits"
@@bbranett2188 My profile picture has my best friend Chase. He taught us to say "I hate rabbits." Me and my other friends would always say "I hate Chase." Unfortunately he passed away a few months ago :(
A good cord to use would be some Tarred Bank Line - heavily weather resistant, very thin, very strong, binds incredibly well to itself.
#36 Tarred Bank Line - Excellent - Around 350lb break strength, very resilient to abrasion, damage from UV light, rot, and mildew, bank line is excellent for many outdoor applications.
“Oh look blueberries, sweet.”
Famous last words
Hey Joe, I gotta say, when you mounted the gopro to the piece of wood, then carried back to camp, that was a great angle bud! I enjoyed that point of view.
Nice to hear! Thanks!!
I have to second that. It was a nice little change.
Yeah that was a good idea!!!
I was wondering when you were going solo again!... I love these videos, they really do make a difference in peoples lives who aren't able to get out and enjoy nature the way they would like. My day started off with a smile thanks to you
Happy to hear it
You look like you're having a really good time even in the rain it's always nice to have the girls along and don't forget the dog I enjoy your videos keep them coming God bless
"Look at this football!" - I don't know if I was just tired, but I laughed until I cried at that. Perfect description.
Same, mate. I lost my shit as well as with "ooo, camera tree!"
This was the best episode you have posted in a long time glad to see you are going back to what made me a fan!!!
This is perfect entertainment thanks joe
We need more of these. These were the good days we looked forward to
Agree! Missing the Beer though
Yeah same here and I’m from England so we don’t have many good campers or whatever there called
Yes, those canoe 🛶 videos have lost me as a fan! 🙄 More Brush craft pls! 🙏🙏🙏
The sound of rain is such a beautiful thing. I need to get out.
You really should get out there Tyler
I sleep in the backyard with my girlfriend's kid all the time and we always sleep the best in the rain

Dude it’s a 1hr video chill
😂😂
Bro it’s an hour long video, it could be a lot worse
Great video. I really enjoyed seeing that you got back to your old style camping video. Hope to see more like this one. Thanks again for all your hard work.
Hell yeah. Just about off work. I know what I'm doing after
Good to see the “old school” Joe back! Was afraid you’d “burnt out” , but thankfully I was wrong! Welcome back!
Thanks for sharing your positive attitude, and the fun that you can still have in the rain.
Be well, be safe, and take good care!
These videos help with my anxiety like you wouldn't believe, I love these videos so so much. Thank you Joe!!
Yes. Im calming down now. Love watching me some Joe Robinet
I really like the way that axe is stored. After watching Jim Bairds video of him cutting his hand by dropping his bag, storing it this way works well
Yeah, that was gruesome and glad he's pretty much healed up now. Def a freak accident. I suggested he ask Doug Linker to make him a proper sheath.
link to video?
Long time subscriber here Joe.. I absolutely love this video.. funny, genuine and back to your roots, old school camping.. need more videos like this
man, listening to that rain on the tent is so relaxing and binging back memories of camping with the scouts as a kid
Hey Joe hope you’re staying safe during these uncertain times. Love your videos🙏
Joe, enjoyed this video in the rain, showing that you can still have a great experience under less than perfect conditions..........
I’m not mad at it. Good to see you back out there doing what you do. Love to see another 10 days.
“Let’s split itttt....lil punk...okaayyy I’m by myself saying weird things” I love it😂
"You hear the quiet?"
You know... now that you mention it, I have not heard a single plane this video... So yes, yes I do! lol
Touche!!
Hey Joe just catching up on your content. Some nice strong and lean cordage I’ve use is construction line commonly used by brick layers or masons in general. Pretty cheap and supper strong. Hope is useful. Take care and keep up the good work with your content.
🤣🤣
7:28 There's trail of sunglases and ferrrods everywhere Joe goes.
I thought it,...but didn't want to be the one to say it....But!....he is doing it, and I am sitting on my ass in the recliner...Go Joe!!!...
lol~!
you could check northern vancouver island for one lol
@@duenge I see what you're saying.... I will never loose glasses or a ferrorod in the bush in that regard. ... You go Joe, You loose all the glasses and firesticks you want buddy.
Hi joe, This is the second video I see of your camping and I enjoy. Being a 75 year old senior handicap I'm reminded of my younger days when I would fish in northern Ontario 20 miles from Kapuskasing, by Fauquier. Very good fish there and the groundhog river too. My favorite fish to eat is pike. I wish there was pike for sale here in Ottawa, now Perch is good too. Enjoy yourself Joe while your young and able. Those times fly by too fast.
Joe has saved me from committing to some dark days. Got out of it and haven’t seen a video in over two years. This was really refreshing. Thanks man and Scout lives on! Here is to a good boy, cheers.
Maybe your best CAMP LOCATION of the season: we can actually see the ground.
Agreed beautiful view!
And one can see further than ten feet through the brush, so we'll always know whether it's a bear or moose considering bludgeoning us to death! 😂
Good stuff
oooPretty oh you’ll know if it’s a moose
I was actually thinking to myself just how much I needed this today. THANK YOU Joe!!!!
Ha! Awesome 👌
I remember watching your Channel with like 30thousand subs ,crazy how your channel has grown🤯
Love the videos, thank you for all the work that goes into them. In response to the paracord substitute I love dyneema line. They make them in different diameters, I use a thicker one for my hammock and real thin ones are plenty strong for my tarp lines. They don’t soak the rain as much as paracord either. All the best to your family!
I remember meeting Joe in person. Humble guy and from the same home town. I remember watching videos way back in the day. Its nice to see how far you’ve come. Keep it up brother!!
Much appreciated buddy!!
46:56 After that fart, I was sure the "Oh Nooo!" would be followed by, "I shit my pants!"
thanks!!! for getting that mega-bass back into the water asap...so often I have to look away when fisherfolks wait way too long to get the fish back in...bad for the fish. (you obviously know that)
Watching with hot coffee and M 'n' Ms. Blue tooth speakers as rain lashes down in Macau. Comforting!
I have been watching you for a while now and the video quality has gone up so much keep up the good work 💙🤘
17:45 That's one BIG selfie stick!
Joe, Man it is so good to see this video. With all the madness in the world, you are a light in the darkness. Blessings to you and your family.
Wow the setup here, with the paddle, improvised shelter, the tripod under the tarp, the fire, the rain, everything about this was awesome. Enjoyed!
everytime i see a shot of you walking forward with the camera behind you, i just think about you going back to get the camera
I've been sat trying to find a video of yours that I haven't watched! Then I got this notification 😂
Hey Joe. Just catching up on old videos I hadn’t seen before. Thoroughly enjoying your adventures. Thanks for sharing. It’s been fun catching up during our second lockdown, this has been great sharing your experiences
Because of you i started to get into camping, i've never went to forrest overnight alone, but looking forward into it, thank you for your content.
Make a "ruler" on your rod with lines. That way you always have a away to measure the length.
Gooooood call!
I sometimes hold it up against my rod , get an eye mark then measure it later. Also get 2 strings, cut length an girth an cut strings. Length× girth divide by 300= will give you the weight.
Or u can mark somewhere on the inside of the boat
"Do you hear the quiet?!" - Joe, 2020
Dooo youuuuuu!!?????
Loving the videos Joe. Just got back from a week in the woods, now watching your adventures at work. Keep it up mate and all the best, Tom.
Stuffed up nose is from the smoke from the ember... took me a while to realize why I would always have a sore swollen throat some nights at camp. Sometimes so bad I was worried I'd stop being able to breathe.
Once I started avoiding breathing in the campfire smoke, it went away
Genius vid Joe
Classic Robinet
Just how I like it
Taken on an adventure.......
All the best with the Merch...I'll certainly pass it on
Eddy
The backpack was a sweet idea the regular backpack just doesn’t fit camping gear as good and the side pouches are clutch for extra stuff
Love your vids, love the places you choose to go. You and Doug are a great, comical team. Would like to see the two of you out fishing again. Keep up the great bushcrafting.
Putting the camera on the wood ... genius Joe .. .. you wouldn't have got away with that with Scout ... bless him
Hey Joe, I recommend using Zing-It arbourist cordage instead of paracord. I've had really good luck with it. Super strong, doesn't stretch and much smaller.
Ill check it out now, thanks!
+1 on zing it, or lash it
@@BigHat83 +1 on Zing it for tarps. Also look at Amsteel for a thicker 1500lb cord, about the same thickness as paracord.
Knew someone must have said Zing-It or Lash-It...just had to scroll a bit to find it. lol
I'm so early , joe you're an absolute inspiration to me and I plan on starting up my very own Bush craft youtube channel once I acquire all the appropriate gear
There’s no time like the present, why wait for all the gear? Start from nothing and take people on the journey with you mate, there are hundreds of channels out there that have all the gear, it’s the person that brings the views not the gear.
@@InimitaPaul I agree 100% I only need an axe
@@fluffernutter0923 For my first axe I just went to Amazon and bought a small 30 inch axe and it works great.

Also subbed and looking forward to your adventures. Nice username by the way. :)
This is a beautiful, beautiful place! Love camping with you Joe! Happy New Year to you and your family!
Trips like this are what make life ....well...Life. I'm so glad to have seen this video.
I love how the seagull was eating dinner practically next to you without a care in the world...Just a couple bros eating some food +++
That was a pretty neat experience

tarred nylon bank line is my favourite smaller gauge cordage
Thanks!

Where's your dog 🐶?
I've been taking mine camping in Japan almost every week, and she really enjoys it.
Question about ticks. Do you ever come home and find ticks in your dog?
Anyway, I love your videos and find inspiration to try new things each time I watch. 🤙
@@josephallen19
I actually named my dog 🐶 Scout because of you as well.
Just remember, all dogs go to heaven. You'll meet again. 🤙
I agree. I love #36 Bankline. A 1lb roll is around 400ft of cordage and its strong.
same here
Love your videos man, you're giving me the itch to get out in the woods! Thanks for some brightness in these dark times.
I'm impressed by how much you fit in that pack and how small it looked! I want one! Also awesome video as always , loved the rain and the tent..was expecting it to be a hot tent. I have the same dilemma with paracord 😂
Had to turn the news off - so depressing - turned on a little Joe and I feel so at peace now. Thank you.
Just bought the 750 ml pot thingy. You're right: all your stuff is high quality (shirts included). Thank you, and god bless.
Much appreciated
Nice to watch a Joe Robinet camping video after just spending 45 nights in Algonquin Park....8 on Opeongo, 23 on Sec Lake and 14 on Traverse! :) :) :) Even though I am 70 years old, I am still young enough to enjoy canoeing, fishing and camping! Also, in a few days I am going back into Algonquin Park to camp on Canisbay Lake for 7 nights! It just doesn't get any better camping in the great outdoors compared to living in a city! JOE......you remind me of a young me and you make my life complete!!!!!! Camp on Bro! AND KEEP THOSE VIDEOS COMING!
The quality of the hidden woodsman daypacks are amazing! I'm so glad I bought one!
Joe starting a fire in the rain. Old school ol' Joe. I like this more than any 10 day canoe trip. This is what I deal with when I'm camping in the wilderness. I keep seeing Scout stealing your nice dry maple. Keep it up Joe.
That second bass you caught was a beauty Joe! All your gear looks clean aswell! Keep it up bud👍🏻
haha, brilliant shots as always Joe! I especially love the ones where you put the camera on the firewood you carried hehe. Love your passion for making these videos better and better :)
I moved to malta a year ago, and where i came from its similar to canada's nature. And now im on this island where its so different, compact with people and i just wanna run away from everything and go back to the woods, so im enjoying joe's video insead xD so tnx joe ❤😂
Mosquitos are definitely still out in full force! Just got off the river and they kicked my butt the last couple nights especially during that thunderstorm! Great video as always!
"I don't want to assume your gull gender."
Ol' Joe playin' it smart.
He knows he doesn't want 30-40 gulls outside his camp tomorrow protesting him.
Lol
Most likely they would be vegan gulls. Probably couldn't do very much damage. Wouldn't have the energy.
Awesome as usual and nice bass!! Think thats the happiest/giddiest I've ever seen you Takes me back to my childhood around Arnprior with my cousins. As for you "paracord replacement" I suggest Bank Line. Its a "marine cordage. Very strong comes in different "widths, is waterproof, knots dont slip and is totally waterproof! Looking forward to your next adventure... Be well.
The loon!!! I commented before the video got really good. Joe thanks again for putting out these gems. You have no idea this is really a good escape when you can't get out and go camping bc of work/family or whatever the case may be.
I love camping in the rain. And being on lakes in the rain. And just generally love the rain.
I used to like it a lot more myself. Being out in it far too often in every season as a flatbed truck driver made me lose my interest in it for now! I hope the rain will become the peaceful water droplets they once were to me.
I recently learned that outdoorsmen in Vermont, use Vicks Vapo Rub as a bug repellent. Just an FYI.
I was going to suggest you smoke/smudge the tent, to deal with the bugs.
In my family, the statement is: any food that will make a poop, is good food.
Joe, dude, it's been triple digit bright sunny for weeks, here in Texas, so your little rain storm was such an awesome sight.
I liked all the new camera stuff in this vid. The switches from 1st person perspective, and the go pro on the tree. Love it!
The 2nd bass and the seagull parts are what make you an awesome creator. I learn so much every video. Thanks for being so rad dude!
Here we go gonna be another banger let’s go watch the vids man you guys won’t regret it this guy is good at what he does watched sense he made the channel love the channel man 🤙🤙💯💯
Dude, the intro was very Fred Penner’s Place-like....loved it. My wife and I just brought our kids (2 and 5 years old) to Algonquin last week. They can’t get enough of getting out there and learning the stuff I can pass onto them that I’ve learned from you. Thanks for giving something valuable that can be paid forward! My kids and I appreciate it!
Never thought I would like a spoon so much...but as you said Joe, it's a work of art.
Joe my man you’re videos are literally my daily or weekly therapy. An Ontario fan and fellow enthusiast who would love to adventure with you someday!
We'll get into the info on the knapsack in "" OH look blueberries "" lol. I see we share the same attention span my Ontarian friend. Ok now back to the rest of the video , I stopped it just to write this, lol. Sweet knapsack by the way eh ? Since I'm old and don't know how to go to Instagram I won't be able to get a chance to win that awesome backpack
But that's ok , as long as I'm a subscriber and get to watch your videos im a winner all day long and being Canadian also helps .
Squirrels and shiny things... gotta love it....
Isn't late for blueberries? Didn't they get ready in July?
@@WexMajor82 not in northern Ontario they last all the way through August usually and this video was early August

I am sure you have been told numerous times... but I appreciate you for these videos and the adventures you do‼️ It really is an escape for me from the chaotic life we all are enduring right now.
