    I was happy to see you visit another country. But enjoying the sights with family in your own country I believe to many people forget to do. I am from the states. Born and raised in Michigan. Because my dad had severe late summer allergies, we would head north last part of August. As we grew we traveled farther north. I remember going to Canada in my later teen years. One year we circled Superior camping on souther end of Lake Nipissing. It was beautiful. There was one cliff on the left side of the road that stood high over the highway as we were traveling back home that had a beautiful water fall. I often think of that because there was no snow to melt that time of year. And for there to be nothing visually higher than that cliff, was it a spring feed river? I just know I was impressed.
    I enjoyed traveling and meeting new people and new places. Wawa was another place that impressed me. Wawa was said to be called that by first nations people beecause it was a place that multiple flocks of Canadian geese settled during the return migration from the south. Tha name was the way they felt the geese call sounded.
    There was also an old shut down logging camp we ventured into to the lakes and streams to camp with family friends. There was one place the trail crossed a railway track. First nations people used the buildings left by logging company. They told my father that they made ramps to help them cross track.But they warned him not to leave them on the track because they could make vehicles jump off the track. The families started using ramps when a large, quickly moving train approached. I had never been so close to a train. I couldn't move. I ponder it often. Why was I so scared?
    Well please keep on camping ŕishing and teaching. . Sharing is caring . Wish I could go there again.
    Love
    Mary Davis

    Joe, just so you and others know in Ontario it is an offence under the Provincial Offences Act to leave a campfire unattended. When you built up your fire and left, I am sure that if a CO had come along, you would have been charged. The minimum fine is $ 250.00 . I personally know 2 people who left campfires to burn down and went fishing. When they returned, the CO was waiting and they were both charged.

      Some asshole tied fishing line from one tree to the other right over one of the walls.

    Thanks Joe. I've used this tarp configuration a few times now. It's really practical if the weather closes in. I don't know if you know but, if you need a little extra weather protection you can loosen the "flap ties" at the front and close them together. Use. peg or bit of cord to tie the loops and it stays secure.

    • @killslay
      @killslay Před 3 lety +5

      You do get used to it. you have to remember most wildlife is active at night. Even though you can't see em, the place will be teaming with rabbits, small rodents and foxes. Even the tiniest vole can sound like a Sasquatch when it's scarpering through the leaves. I like to lie in my hammock and wonder what little critter is paying me a visit... That might be different if I lived where there were bears though!
