I risked it all when buying this cheap 2019 Aston Martin Vantage. The car was bought a a non runner and i spent alot of the the last video trying to get the car started. In this video i begin to strip the parts from the car to work out what exactly is damage and how much this rebuild is going to cost me. But i was shocked by the price Aston Martin wanted for some of the smallest parts.

🤔 20k I think
15K?
£17500 or near abouts
I'm guessing a few quid say 5800just on repairs , the radiators ain't gone be cheap
7k
There was a time Mat woulda not believed that he had a ramp. Now he's got two ramps and 2 super cars on them. What a journey! Absolutely smashing it!!
Yeah he's come a long way from the BMX days!!
100 deserves it though, what a guy!
I'm not mechanically minded.....like at all, not in the slightest however one of your videos came up as recommended and I haven't looked back. Your enthusiasm and dedication as well as willingness to do your research into searching parts is second to none. I love these videos! Keep up the amazing work!
Agreed and not just forking out money irrespective of the price, when a little research can offer cheaper solutions/alternatives.
he's the reason my Audi S4 is still running - when I watched the vid he did of the S5, that was the defining moment for me. Can't thank this absolute gent enough for his hustle and dedication. And he's offing humble with it
Well played Matt on getting the equivalent Jag steering tracking rod. Damn near criminal what Aston Martin were going to charge for the whole steering rack etc part.
I love how Mat helps to unmask the crazy mark up that name brand dealerships put on things. He was going to have to buy the whole rack for over 5,800, but instead is paying like 16 for the inner tie rod.
Aye, brand tax is real
Gotta be honest, I never used to watch much of Matt's content purely because I wasn't a fan of the other youtubers I saw tagging along (4th letter of the alphabet 🤦♂) but these build videos have totally got me onboard and subscribed, the enthusiasm to DIY stuff himself is super relatable and really enjoyable to watch. It's also refreshing to see some car rebuilds from a UK channel 🇬🇧
like who?
When was Matt around DMO? 🧐
I like Matt because there's no arrogance or bravado, simply a nice lad doing up cars. Agree with you about other 🔔🔚
@@samtaylor3716 innit bro, don’t even think him been around DMO would be a bad thing either. Both will have similar audiences in fact think a lot of us watch DMO and MATT. I think it would be a sick collab
@@reecek6726 chill - I was just having an opinion that the content has been really engaging and worthy of subscribing for. I'm not telling people who not to be friends with 🤦♂the two channels have a different take on audiences. The last time I checked the comment section of DMO's channel it was full of teenager lads who gaslight every situation and aspire to be an adult roadman. Matt's content is getting the correct attention draw for actually having something worthwhile watching.
Hi Matt, I just wanted to say that I love what you are doing. I am 18 years old and watch your videos often. it is one of my dreams to repair a crashed car myself. you are truly an immense inspiration, you are the definition of everything is possible. Keep it up, greetings from Belgium!
Mat's videos are just brilliant. They show genuine passion, an actual 'trial and error' approach to car rebuilds, and they are just such a refreshing change to the usual 'Look at my new $120,000 car' videos. I've no idea how he manages his time, flicking between cars.... superb. I'd love an up to date 'day in the life' video..... perhaps....?
Keep it up brother!
There's companies that can "recore" and refurbish car radiators. Would be A LOT cheaper and they can probably bend the bent ones back into shape too...
I was thinking the samething 😁
Try Hartlepool radiators, always do a great job
Yep we have one here in Glasgow👌 handy place
Serck used to do rads and were nationwide
It is fantastic news that you are able to find all the common parts and buying the exact part you need. Super fun start to the series. Looking forward to the next episode. Keep up the good work.
Really, really pleased for you on this one Mat.
Fingers crossed, the rest of the repair on this one goes as well as it has so far.
Started following Matt 2 months ago and I am inspired. You brought back exciting memories of the years I spent rebuilding cars. Thanks for these exciting videos.
I am from south africa and I started watching your videos since the Golf build and I have never missed a video ......you are truly the only real CZcamsr out there left and completely honest and you have mad skills..... thank you for the amazing content and best of luck with the Aston I know it will turn out sick
HI Matt, loving this build, you have some guts taking it on. If you struggle buying the radiators, there are companies that repair or even build radiators. Keep up the good work.
Love the honesty in your videos because tbh that’s what really happens to people watching these videos.
I'm praying that the frame is in line... Love how much effort and heart you put in it❤.
thanks matt your content is so consistent... i follow half a dozen car channels and they all go quiet for weeks on end, u keep knocking them out twice a week, every week. Fair play!
It’s absolutely scandalous the prices they charge, good job your so switched on Matt!!! Can’t wait to see this series!!! 👍👍👍💷💷💷💷💷💷🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Yep.! They take the piss.! Labour charges alone are astronomical.!!!
Definitely, considering most Aston Martins are parts bin cars these days. It was the same when Ford owned them. Not selling an inner tie rod separate is profiteering for sure. Nearly £6k for a £16 part 😂
@@Mac_F87 I had it when my driver door window modulator packed in.! I had to buy the passenger’s side aswell because they had to be programmed‘together’ £500 per switch and £200 to program.!!!absolute piss take.!!! Personally I would never buy another AM…… the newer ones are just Mercedes in a Aston jacket….
@@Mac_F87 that 6k quote was for the entire steering rack though which makes sense as they are expensive parts for any car
I think its disgraceful how they can charge those prices especially when made under licence for other vehicles, what I dont get is why trading standards don't jump in, if that was a builder or anybody else they would lol
Anyway this is gonna be a cracker of a car when finished
Try T R W for suspension bits and maybe others. They make the OE parts for a lot of high end manufacturers, but also sell to general parts stores for the public. The parts are the same but they grind off the manufacturer logo for example. The price is much less.
This!
This is true as I work in car parts and valeo do the same thing with starters and alternators
There’s a saying that patience is a virtue and you have that quality mate. You’re videos are absolutely epic man. Thanks for creating amazing car content to watch, and not just driving but how to be more hands on!
I am proud to say my brother has already booked Aston Martin V12 Vantage. Coming in the later part of 2022. So excited for him.👍
Absolutely excited for this build Mat you've come a long way to get the Aston keep it up🙌
Just came across your channel today. Watched 4 videos and fell in love with the quality and entertainment. Just keep up the good work. You’re a subscriber richer!
Mat, just started watching your videos .. Love your enthusiasm .. and joy of working on crash damaged cars.. Keep it up
Been waiting for this, been binge watching all your videos man, love them! 👌
You spend more on a single part than I do an entire car!
Please teach me 🥲
@@MatArmstrongbmx There's a video in that ;)
What a car, what a build, gonna be interesting. Great video Matt, another one got me hooked, just wish they were longer 👍
Matt I really enjoy watching your videos, mate. In my opinion the best car related channel on YT. Much love from Germany
Awesome to watch, looking forward to seeing this beast complete and on the road
Great vid really looking forward to this project, from 5k to £16 (hopefully!), hopefully you can continue breaking the massive overhead of repairing an Aston Martin, would love a end of project summary of what it cost!
Imagine when this beast is finished🔥
Some of the best car rebuild videos out there. Well structured videos too!
Great video Matt glad you have got the Aston Martin running now . Looking forward to seeing the next one 👍
This is just next level, Mat! Can't wait to see you fix this.... and the Range Rover!
Interesting project! This one is either going to get very expensive, turn into a parts bin chase, or worst case BOTH! I fear that some Aston Martin only parts will be impossible to source, with their "authorised repairers only" policy meaning this could easily get costly. This is going to be bitter-sweet tough-toffee for you to chew on Matt, but I'll keep watching and wish you Good Luck!
Diggin the vids Mat! Super cool energy and vibe! I turned my boys on to your channel and they are liking your content as well. I’m stoked about this series. Keep it up Mat. Adios from Texas!
Those fast forward vids of you dissembling/ reassembling cars is really satisfying 😎😊
Can’t wait to see what you do with this one, Mat. If you get it started! 😆🤞
Watching your videos starting last year July, when I was infected with Covid. I don’t know why, but nothing really interested me more than Matt Armstrong’s content!
By the way it is the easiest way of practicing my listening skills in English!
Thank you Matt!
New to the channel, not a young man nearly 64, love cars ,you are very brave to take on an Aston , I will view all your videos and the way you go about it is refreshing. easy gong with a touch of fun.
This is going to be an amazing build. Absolutely love Aston Martin. And it’s so different from what everyone else is doing. Burning content . Love it 🔥
It looks like you need someone that's good at welding alloy! It might save you from having to source brackets etc. Loving the videos, keep up the good work 👌
I was thinking the same! Easily weldable
The first vid popped up in recommended earlier today and really grabbed my interest. Can’t wait to see the progress on this!
Such a clever guy. To work out the things he does. OK some is obvious like the AMG marked on parts but working out how to override non starter issues and knowing what everything is and working through things to sort the issues out. Loving catching up on all the video's. Binging on Mat. Great content.
5800 pounds or 16 pounds 🤣 lol that's crazy

All the best, i was searching for this rebuild for so long!!!!
This will be your longest but greatest restore journey. And I'm here for it.
Good luck 👍🏾
the sole secret of making steady gains in crypto is simple; get in with the right approach!! You don’t expect your first attempt to raise huge gains due to social media hype. Take your time and search for a trustworthy professional and keep up with their trades.
I'm new to Bitcoin and would like to invest. But I've got no idea on how to make real profits. Can someone please tell me how to go about it?
lot of people are rushing into bitcoin without the knowledge of how it works and that's very wrong so I suggest you find someone to guide you
I'm pretty new and i feel I have much to learn before placing my first trade. Are you suggesting I lookup for an expert for trading guide?
Yes but finding a high rated broker/expert to guide you isn't that easy.
I stumbled across recommendtions and testimonies of people expert Oliva has helped, and I decided to try her out...my 11th weekly return is currently on its way
I don't watch much on youtube but when I do it has to be quality content. This is right up there. Well done.
I’m a tradesman, completed 2 apprenticeships. This guy is awesome. He has taught himself so much and just very likeable. Positive vibes
I'm so impressed and utterly jealous of what you're doing here chap. I've always considered the 'shared parts' thing with modern cars to be unsavoury, UNTIL I've seen how much it's saving your bacon!
That diagnostic hack was pure genius!
im not a car guy but i enjoy watching your rebuild videos. keep up the good work mat
Great stuff as always Matt! From my limited experience the only parts that might cause you trouble if they are after market swapped etc are ones that need to be codded into the ECU or ones that are running diagnostics. But even then they usually work if they are just parts that are used by multiple brands.
Great video, last time i saw on of yours you were waffling on for ages so good to see the action!
Matt. You seriously deserve all that’s best for your enthusiasm, bottle and entertainment factor. All the best boy.
You are next level Matt, loving these vids so much! Huge respect for the work 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Love watching new vids from you Mat, i’m learning so much about cars watching ur vids
Another great episode Mat - love it. Good luck with the Aston rebuild 👍
Really enjoying your videos mat, totally blown away with your many skills around cars.. But most of all its your energy my man.. I've loved being around cars all my life and enjoy the buzz of driving.. Always sort of turned away from write offs but you've given me something to think about.. Big savings to be had.. Keep it up mate.
Just found your channel and it's really cool. Live cars but have zero mechanical knowledge so good to see how you progress with projects
Well done mate. You have learnt loads and are so confident. You're teaching us so much. X
Great vid Mat. This is looking like an easy-but expensive one!
Maybe cars like that survive a bit better in an accident because they’re track ready and have the cross bracing
Great stuff mat, enjoying your content. I’ve been watching since the Audi S5 you’ve come a long way and the skies the limit 🙌
Proablly my favourite rebuild so far! My dream car 😍 nice work Mat 👏🏻👏🏻
One of the most likable dudes on CZcams.
I’m really glad that I found your channel. Full of inspiration and fun ❤😂
We all can't wait for the finished product, it will look amazing
This is the most spectacular series of videos on the Aston Marin rebuild.
As always, excellent and entertaining videos, looking forward to the next instalment.
This build I'm going to love. So great to find parts that are also for other cars 💪🏻🙏🏻🇸🇪☀️
You put up a great videos of cars rebuilding, i think it's best in the business.
Cant wait for C63 and Range final look and now Astin in line.😍😊
Great content! Honestly the track rod end just shows how dealers rip you off if that jaguar one works
I love your enthusiasm Matt but most of all your ingenuity in find compatible parts. I did wonder when you first got the Aston whether it was a step too far, but you seem to be making great progress.
Super happy it started 🙌🏼
Matt, you need to up your game mate! I need more videos a week from you, literally the only thing I look forward to watching
Awh sham the sound, there is an Aston Martin driver near me, he has it on track mode all the time and when my kids see him they get him to rev it and you actually feel it!
Great video Matt , I’m looking forward to this build , good luck matey 👍
The thinking process on the partnumbers is actually quite good to have. Because from a car manufacturers' perspective, it doesn't make sense to have everything on a car custom made and hard to change as price would just skyrocket (as would manufacturing costs and time). So actually looking into how much on a car is interchangeable through part numbers is quite genius in a way, just takes effort and a bit of time.
I wish you released a little 'mini series' so we could binge watch them! Excited to see how this car comes along
Mat you may not be a mechanic but from where you came from to where you are now it’s awesome watching your content and seeing the upgrades month by month. Happy for you keep up with the good content
Thanks bro
I think this is going to be my favourite car you have tackled so far. Can't wait.
That inner tyre rod success put me in a great mood for the rest of the day! Thanks
Watching all the way from Australia. Got the work guys hooked too. Even my wife watches it with me. This is something we can’t do in Australia as parts here a shit to get and expensive.
A much better ending to this Aston Video.....thank God!
Good luck with the build and keep up the great content.
New subscriber here, loving the videos. That Aston is an absolute belter, looking forward to seeing this one progress 👍
Get in there matt 👊🏾👊🏾love how your making progress and figuring things out 💯💯
Your ingenuity is amazing..
Loving this upload schedule matt! Loving these builds at the minute!
If ive learned anything is that research and cross referencing is very important...Thanks Matt 👍🏾
Great video Mat. Lets spread the word and get this channel beyond 500k subs where is belongs.
Always a good day when a new Mat Armstrong video drops 🔥
Amazing how much mark up they put on parts and how much they vary over brands!! Short but sweet vid Mat!! 🤞👍
Hey Matt. Any aliminium parts that need casting, you can take the broken parts and have them sand casted and made again. Love the Aston. Proper gassed you done this. Respect bro
Nice video, first time viewing your channel, I look forward to how it progresses. Good luck, buddy.
Well done Matt, I repair crashed cars, it's an art playing part numbers on Google and finding the same part off different makes, and finding brilliant skilled people who can repair stuff. Here in the Midlands is a rich source of skilled specialists, it's just finding them. Good luck and we'll done. Best Regards Matt
Taken it to another level Matt, well done and looking forward to this one, Waz
Mate, this is class! I've only just found your channel and have subscribed. I'd love to have the guts to do this(plus the time, space and money! 😂) seeing this Aston, makes the issues on my E39 M5 look like nothing.
Good luck with everything, you're a natural on the camera, unlike so many others. 👍🏻
I am as excited as when it would have been my own car. Fingers crossed everything workes out so well further on.
I've been watching your videos since the first one which I recall being your girlfriend's crash damaged insurance buy and it's amazing what you do to these cars, keep it up!
