The greatest TV show on the air today is Babylon Berlin from Germany. The fourth season gets even deeper with undercover operatives, weird psychological tests and secret societies!

There's a film called "Fatherland", which is based on the book of the same name, that you might like if you haven't already seen it. It stars Rutger Hauer (R.I.P), one of my all time favourite actors, and is a detective story set in a world where the Nazis won WWII.

Thanks for your analysis. I look forward to seeing season 4 when Netflix makes it available in the US. Question - why do you refer to Anno Schmidt as Gereon's brother? Gereon's brother and Dr. Schmidt share the same first name, but Gereon's brother died on the battlefield in WW I. Schmidt is Gereon's symbolic brother, or "brother." Gereon's been feeling guilt that he couldn't carry his brother to safety in 1918. He had mixed feelings about being intimate with his brother's widow for many years.

Thanks! I thought at the end of Season 2 Dr. Schmidt reveals Anno did not die in the war and he is Gereon's brother after Gereon repressed running away instead of helping him. But maybe I was mistaken.

my husband is a HUGE fan of the book series and loved the first two seasons while later seasons did "strife too far from the books" according to his comments. Some characters act WAY to different

As a German I can't stand watching it. The performances, like all domestic productions, are terrible. Typical german cringeworthy line delivery and wooden acting.
