Didn’t know my favorite podcasters had a band TOO? Sick
As soon as Ezra mentioned Real Housewives I knew it was gonna be something about Baio 😂
I love how they gave him his time to talk about it. Chris Baio is a real housewife fr
obsessed with josh’s voice and accent (and overall personality and demeanour)
so glad they're keeping up this series
I enjoyed learning about Josh. What an interesting guy!
I may have thought he was some random homeless weirdo who wandered into the studio when I saw him in the video, my bad
Josh is a certified bro and I would die for him
Dude seemed very zen, and I was surprised he had a masters in library science, you have to be fairly bright to do that work (like scientists go to them if they can’t find obscure papers/research, I had to go to them a few times in college and grad school). But he chooses to stay living life on the road and seems like the chillest guy to hang with!
Of course, Vampire Weekend has a librarian on staff, lol. I have an MLIS too and I love it!
Vampire X Wilco crossover here we go folks
Oh my god I wanna hang out with Josh so bad, seems like such an interesting cool guy
I’ve always enjoyed M79, but I’ve never taken the time to look at the lyrics, so I’ve always heard “colonization, techno cap” and despite how insane that sounds, I never thought it was odd or out of place
biggest indie banger on contra IS giving up the gun for sure
Honestly a toss up between GUTG and Holiday for me. Holiday had more commercial success, I believe.
The first time i've heard the mask also being someone else's favourite movie. I was moved.
I love that Baio is a genuine fan of Real Housewives
Weekly tour vampire campfires 🤞🏼
I was at Okeechobee thinking to myself we might all be infecting ourselves right now, but the music made up for the fear
M79 is one of my favorite songs; it is WILD to me that there are people who don't like the lyrics
Same. I always want more VW songs like that one.
I agree 100%
Same. Their SNL performance of that and A-punk was the very first time I heard them and it was instant love.
Vanpire Weekend RHOSLC coverage, such a pleasant surprise
Happy that this is a thing
WILCO Chicago shout out!
have rostam as a guest star…
Yes. He can discuss why he posted all his production accomplishments and gold disks or whatever, the day they dropped their new singles
This is extra well done!
Wasn't sure how long I'd have to wait! Happy Monday!
Very excited but also, add captions please!
This guitar tech is a voice twin for Anthony Jeselnik, it's crazy lol.
Literally the same damn voice
Really cute interview. Appreciate the podcast 👍🏻
Hyped for that silver vinyl! Can’t wait to blast it on the turntable!
I'm always analyzing the lyrics lmao. I'm glad Ezra covered part of the question I was planning to send to the vampcamppod email. But I do have many questions when it comes to the intended meaning of certain lyrics. I know Ezra said even the meaning can personally change as you are provided another perspective.
I know you guys have a very interesting perspective of the world and a brilliant knowledge of music history / culture. So it'd be pretty interesting hearing about certain things. We appreciate the pod, gang!
What are your favorite VW lyrics?
@@Carlos-ln8fd That's such a good question.. I think the one which stands out to me the most is the final verse and chorus of Ya Hey. Compare my experience with Ezra's meaning.
How about you, Carlos?
@@Austinman353 oh love that final section of Ya Hey. the whole song is a masterpiece but, yeah, those lyrics at the end are great.
i think my favorites are in the bridge of Obvious Bicycle. not sure what exactly it's supposed to mean but it always hits me. also it fits the song so perfectly.
So hyped for this album to drop
I’m so excited for Kilby boys!
We love a SLC shoutout.
how is everything they do so cool
Forget the Dos Equis guy, Josh "so much more than a backline tech" Goldsmith is the most interesting man in the world. 😃
Seriously, he *is* a very interesting man and so well spoken.
Signed,
Also a VW fan and geriatric raver.
p.s. exceptional telephone hold in Austin, Josh and diggin' that OG beegirl Blind Melon Shirt, Ezra. 🙌🏼
Got my tickets for the UK Big Weekend- exciting times 😎 VW will be the highlight!!
so happy that we’re starting out with the real housewives of slc. also kilby block party is gonna be da bom.
Good catch on the Diane Young lyrics Baio. I updated them on Genius. Thanks for your hard work.
Salt Lake City here we come!
I was at Kilby Court Block Party and YES RHWOSLC Heather Gay did appear!
Lyrics on this album are the strongest of any
Great episode, so excited for the album! Love the microphones, what model/brand are those?🎤✳️
Dude sounds exactly like Anthony Jeselnik
100%
Josh rules!
Baby baby baby right on time
I’ve always had an obsession with flower moon
I KNEW THE DIANE YOUNG HAD MORE THAN BABY
Reality Von Tease. Baio rocks it!
Can Baio host a SLC watch party next season??
Me chamem pra esse acampamento!
Let’s gooo
need subtitles :S
Buena banda mi presi boric jjajajaja
A podcast full of silly nonsense? I love it.
Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is so great
cool
CT's cowlick is inspiring. I rock a similar hairdo (longtop/sidefade) and suffer from this as well. If he normalizes it, i will be more confident about my look.
Also, my mom has a masters degree in library science. Small world!
Hate do it to Ezra, but one thing we do know about Stonehenge is that the druids did not build it. It had existed for quite a long time before druidism emerged.
Letssgooo
im english and i would call my girlfriend sausage as a joke, an endearing joke, if I ever did, probably in an Essex or cockney accent; 'alright, Sausage!' (think Dick van Dyke in Mary Poppins). and as for cheese, i have the idea in my head from someone down the line that it makes you dream, not have nightmares!
giving up the gun is pop-punk
So is diplomats song the greatest vw song ever recorded or is it hannah hunt?
Hey guys, please add captions for the deaf and hard-of-hearing! Merci!
All the albums are perfect, from the self-titled to OGWAU
It was weird that Josh got banished at a certain point, but I guess it's understandable if he didn't have a list
Fresh Wolf x Vampire Weekend collab would go soooo hard
Hearing that they wrote "Classical" in separate rooms to "keep it safe" in "high covid" makes me not want to listen to the song again. That's a cowardly energy. Vocals are dispassionate. I understand why now.
I've always adored VW, but their wealthy NY weakness is coming out. Energy matters.
man shut up
Very funny comment
this has to be a joke pls say sike
yeah this can’t be a serious comment 😂
lul
Listen, white sky + the kids don’t stand a chance. One time I worked @ a rest. On the LES, Ezra + a friend from another band (he kept calling him “my boy E” if that gives anything away 😂) came in. E looked nervous, like we’d all bombard him so to level the field I made a lil drawing for the other guy, whose music I also loved. I’m not sure what he thought but proceeded to always reach out to me to get a res after that.
At Madison SQ Garden, they hadn’t played i think ur a contra, I kept saying to my Ivy League prep school boyfriend at the time if they don’t play it, if they don’t play it…..
Then they played it, next.
He looked @ me like I might very well be magic, and it was magical.
The End.
