Upon learning that his dear friend Dick Farnsworth had taken his own life because the pain of terminal cancer could no longer be tolerated, John delivers this heartfelt eulogy in the Alabama Hills.

I don’t see his suicide as a cowardly move, I feel like he wanted to go out on his own terms instead of cancer taking him, and more than that, to be with his wife again. Rip.

Richard Farnsworth will live in my memory as the character, Matthew Cuthbert that he played in the Anne of Green Gables series a few decades ago. He is sorely missed, especially in this day and age!! May he rest in the peace of the Lord.
