Test of a Fire-Lite MS-4 System in an old office building. Follow me on Twitter & Instagram... TWITTER: / safetech0415 INSTAGRAM: www.instaram.com/officialsafe...
One of the main reasons the bg-10 pulls like to break is because people tighten the hex screw WAY more tighter than they should be, which causes a lot of stress on the plastic when pulled down. If you have a bg-10, tighten the hex screw enough so that the handle can be smoothly pulled, it will make your bg-10 last longer, trust me
Bg-10s we're actually recalled because of a rubber washer around the button that would basically disintegrate over time, becoming sticky, and holding the button in. The whole screw thing was another whole thing
I think the main reason is just that they don’t include dialers like the MS-5UD does. The MS-2 can’t even relay a supervisory, so it can’t be used as a tiny sprinkler monitor system. Not sure of its real world purpose...
DonDaPlayer Even a “small budget” would include a functional fire system. I have only heard of a couple being installed in little old apartment buildings.
Is the horn plate black on that 7002? If true, then it's a 1985. (rare version, for just that year!) They're the only ones with the same style grille as the 7002T, while still just a 7002, IIRC.
Even if it did it's monitored by his company anyway so he would've either bypassed it before the start of testing but more likely he called in and said Hey I'm at location x doing a fire alarm and sprinkler test I need the system put on hold/test until say 5PM. Basically it means any calls for an alarm from the place until that time are to be ignored.
This shows how loud 7002(T)s really are. I can’t go anywhere near mine without hearing protection or covering my ears when it’s going off and can’t even be in the same room with it without hearing protection as it’s going off
Neat. So a FireLite MS-4 eh? Most building owners prefer newer Notifier or newer Simplex systems these days, and i'm a little surprised that an MS-4 is still there.
Interesting on that pull station replacement. The BG-10's were never really designed well in my opinion, especially the ones with the hex screw. I wonder if there will be something newer than the typical BG-12 we're all used to seeing some day. The BG-12's aren't bad but the have just been around for a while I'm surprised there hasn't been a new design.
If you search officialnewageserveralarm's channel you'll find a video on there I believe it's title is something along the lines of "Why the BG-10 was discontinued" he had left his system the way it was from one of his system test videos and he was able to set the system off just by throwing a piece of wood at the pull station.
There’s not really an incentive for manufacturers to update pulls unless they really have to because they’re just a switch with or without their fancy intelligent module on the back. For example, notification appliances are updated a lot because installers want to be able to have more devices per circuit.
@@MRIDNETGUY2004 Well these will work fine on FWR while the simplex 4903 horn strobes and turealerts get Fried if on FWR and I think a Simplex 4006 is better fit for a replacement.
Judging by the Wheelock 7002Ts and those smoke detectors, I'm betting they used to have an older Fire-Lite Sensiscan 1000 system or something, which the MS-4 then replaced. Seeing that broken BG-10 being replaced with the Simplex pull reminds me of my second elementary school; they had an old Gamewell FlexAlarm system from 1971, but some time during the 70s or 80s one of the Gamewell Century pulls in the main gymnasium was replaced with a Simplex 4251-20 single-action pull (the Gamewell pull was probably damaged by a ball or something.)
The Gamewell Century, Full Moon, Lollipop, and any other names it was known by looked like it was a very fragile pull station to me from observations from other videos I've watched.
I love fire alarm videos but the one thing that really scares me the most it's fire alarm in the bathroom ugh man that would freak me out if someone was in the bathroom doing who-knows-what in there and when the fire alarm goes off they will freak out and panic so don't try to call any funny business when it comes to putting fire alarms in the bathrooms I still no fire alarm videos I subscribed to your Channel it is amazing I love fire alarms of any kind
Hopefully you'll see this Comment,, but are those smoke detectors Ionization or photoelectric? I'm planning on buying one for my fire alarm collection and I'm just curious
VstaarProduction 15 actually, Simplex devices from the mid 90's and on (4903's and truealerts) will eventually die when powered on FWR over time. 7002ts are fine and won't cause damage
Why was there Chinese characters on the wall? Seems weird, anyway, when you tested one of the smoke detectors and if literally pushed in to the ceiling, did you pull it back down?
Great video 😀👍👍 Question: have you ever seen a MS2 in a building, as a full system panel ? Can I get that broken BG10 😉? How come you didn’t replace with a bg12?
1. Probably at some time but can’t remember. 2. I no longer have the device however may consider future giveaways in other items. 3. As a Simplex tech I only carry an active stock of Simplex equipment, other manufacturer’s equipment would have to be special ordered if requested. Thanks for viewing!
Thanks! I would love if you did giveaways or eBay. I understand that now (why can only replace with simplex). My School District is managed by Tyco and I'm working for the District this summer to do inspections. I should also be getting Simplex 4207-T(s) cabinets, out of my High School, that are not hooked up now (they had a 8001 system).
Yeah, I've seen systems installed and by the time they reach 10 years old, they have had to have some of their devices replaced while these old horns are still going strong.
whelenvortexr4 you’re right. My High school was built in 1999 with The new electronic horns. So 20 years, and two or three original alarms have been replaced...
What model of pull did you replace the BG-10 with?Is the 2099-9754 and 9756 still made?Do you prefer the mechanical or electronic 4903s (9217 or 9236)?Awesome Video

Like if you understand the troubles of resetting a BG-10 😂🤦
A.R.A Productions HAHAA . i have a BG10L so no screws for me 😂
I have a Notifier one. It is a pain.

Dang the screeching on them when they go off
FWR Voltage
Awesome video!, I’ve never seen a Fire-Lite MS-4 used for a system
Thanks for viewing!
I celebrated when I saw that this was out. Do u guys test emergency lights and exit signs
Thanks for viewing. Yes our company does however that’s in a different department than me.
Did you add a B key to their Firelite key ring? Because they can’t reset that pull otherwise lol
This panel was made on the 48th week of 2006 as noted on the panel date stamp. The old panel was probably replaced in 2007.
This is a very unique system. Great video
Marc Leslie I just think that an Ms4 with 7002ts and BG10 pulls are an interesting combo
Thanks for viewing!
There’s also spectralert classic
Wow, haven't seen an MS-4 system put into a building before...
DownsLife&Safety I saw an MS2 in a school one time

ironmatic 1 budget installs maybe? poor district new school smallbudget small school? idk
DonDaPlayer Even a “small budget” would include a functional fire system. I have only heard of a couple being installed in little old apartment buildings.
@@ironmatic1 That would make sense too, never thought of an apartment building honestly. Maybe a small business would have one aswell.
i really like the SpectrAlert Classic at the beginning
I love how you just swapped the pull out with a Simplex t-bar. Certainly doesn't match the rest of the system, but it gets the job done!
Well he does work for Simplex so it should come as no surprise lol
msj191961 I have never seen a tech actually replace a device while making a video testing the system. Cool
safetech I like the part of the Wheelock 7002t can you do another building with Wheelock 7002t s in it
What did you do with the broken bg-10?
Cool vid
The ms4 can support those mechanical horns?
Must’ve been a balance between not wanting a horn buzzing in your skull and not overtightening the BG-10s lol
Awesome video!!!
Thanks for viewing!
Neat system! Just curious, do you keep the alarms you replace?
Occasionally if they are in good condition and/or reusable in some way.
You should make a mini system at home safetech
@@safetech T-bar
That is a new level of loud, especially on FWR.
wheelock 7002t's are my fav alarm
I counted six or seven zones, is there a zone expander module?

they should have used a nac power supply to protect the av's / the panel nac
those 7002ts are super scratchy on fwr
8:10 Did anyone else notice the way the alarm made a ticking sound every time it flashed
Yes. That’s what makes those alarms famous in the ‘80s!
That’s what 7002(T)s are known for. That’s just a thing with them having their strobe wired in series with the horn
Awesome video
Thanks for viewing!
Love this video! What was the main coding for the alarms..?
Continuous if you listen at the end he resets the panel then sets the system off for a short time in full alarm.
Even if it did it's monitored by his company anyway so he would've either bypassed it before the start of testing but more likely he called in and said Hey I'm at location x doing a fire alarm and sprinkler test I need the system put on hold/test until say 5PM. what was that stuff you were spraying on the smoke detectors
lightnindash 3804 compressed air for clearing out the smoke chamber after testing them
Great video! That’s why BG-10’s don’t get installed anymore.
Damn really?
MoparFam 300C yep they are on the recall list because of that
@@davidredpath4781because of simplex pull station
@@Cutekittens4471no, because they break so much due to how poorly designed they are.
Awesome
this place looks exactly like an old baptist church I used to go to!
Did you say on the intercoms the fire alarms are being tested
No this building was not equipped with a PA
5:10 Casually BG10. Lol
Why are they on 4 only as second
Let me guess...they overtightened the screw on that BG-10 and the plastic fractured. Or the button. I have a BG-10L and they are quite fragile.
Bingo on the first part. These pull stations were never very reliable.
Um replace with a simplex tbar..wow
@@alexlowery3192 well he works for simplex and the most reliable pull station for him from his company is the simplex T-bar

Yes believe it or not that has happened on a couple occasions. Either case wasn’t anything major however.

Wow a ms4! Those horns won’t last long with FWR.
They’ve had a good run and still are holding up based on the setting. However they’ll likely at some time be phased out.
