Fire Alarm Test #47

  • Test of a new 4100 ES system upgrade at a school I assisted with commissioning over the summer. Most of everything to this system is new excluding the notification appliances. And yes, before you say anything I know many of the horns sound raspy. They will eventually be phased out with new devices.

    The campus center at my friend's university has those electromechanical 4903 horn/strobes as well. Currently they have a Simplex 4100ES system, with TrueAlert speaker/strobes in the renovated main lobby and some TrueAlert horn/strobes replacing the 4903 horn/strobes.

    • @GaryBeltz
      @GaryBeltz Před 6 lety

      Have you heard what tone and message the speaker strobes do?

    • @ZakWolf
      @ZakWolf Před 6 lety

      Nope; but I assume they do the usual Slow Whoop or Code-3 tone and default evac message.

    • @ZakWolf
      @ZakWolf Před 6 lety

      Reminds me of the school I went to for kindergarten; they replaced their old Simplex 4051+4050-80 horn/lights with SpectrAlert Advance horn/strobes. The same thing happened with three of the buildings at my college that had 4050-80s as well. A pretty strange coincidence...

    I love the Simplex 4903 electromechanical horn strobes, but those ones sounded pretty bad. I doubt smacking them a little would’ve helped just like that fire alarm inspection at a local high school.

    • @johndeerefan725
      @johndeerefan725 Před rokem +1

      That inspection video got another one since it got a new panel (4007ES) and the smacking didn't help one 4903 as the horn in the cafeteria in the updated video died but the strobe still flashes.

  • @Twentythree33
    @Twentythree33 Před 6 lety

    Oh, so that's what the LEDS on those new 4099 pull stations are for. My old school got a 4100ES, with the same devices. Funny thing, they had put in a 4007ES, but the old 4002 had 28 zones, so of course the 4007ES was too small, which delayed the installation process, and also me getting some of the old devices (RARE 2099-901 pulls and 2901-9720 Bells, and yes, I live in Canada). Sorry for the long comment, but nice video! I've been subscribed for over a year now! Simplex is AWESOME!

      All the schools in my district do, and even worse, they are all either EST genesis or integrity, or spectralert classic or ADVANCE! And an occasional Wheelock device, but never any speaker/ strobe in a classroom, only a horn/strobe. My elementary school had the integrity, my middle school had the advance, and now I have the newer EST genesis at my high school.

      Actually, it's 1994-1998, but for these particular ones, it's 1994-97, possibly because there's no colored shape on the strobe reflector to indicate how bright the strobe is.

    • @johndeerefan725
      @johndeerefan725 Před rokem

    What would that app say if you were doing a test on a system with monitored CO detectors and you set one off during a test? Would that be called a general alarm? so your phone would say "You have received a general alarm! Point type: Carbon Monoxide!"

    • @safetech
      @safetech  Před 6 lety

      Gary Beltz
      It’s all dependent upon how the point is programmed and configured into the system. But for the most part yes it would say something similar.

    • @firealarmveteran15

    • @sirenfreak57
      @sirenfreak57 Před 6 lety

      Safeman4202 It’s not like many older systems would’ve done audible silence anyways. Most of the older electromechanical horn strobes and strobe plates were wired so they were two wire operable. Manuals at the time actually say that’s how it’s supposed to work (at least the one for my 2903 strobe plate does). You really couldn’t configure it for four wire without not being able to take the wire to the next device or EOL.
