    Hi all. This is our new feature on the long, never ending story of M/Y Phi. Imprisoned in London for almost 2 years, because the owner... well is Russian. That is the only reason the UK government has come up with for holding this brand new yacht fro so long.
    We talk about the efforts of the owner to free his yacht, along with a new court case coming.

    If there is probable cause to believe that a vessel represents the proceeds of illegal or corrupt activities, then the authorities should be transparent about the evidence within a reasonable time period.

    • @JackBooth1206
      @JackBooth1206 Před 6 měsíci

      You’re correct. The UK government have acknowledged that the detention of this vessel is not as a result of any anti money laundering nor spurious economic activity. The owners business activities have been gone through with a fine tooth comb, and the FCO have declined no fewer than 11 requests from the former minister of transport, to place this owner on the sanctions list, citing “no lawful justification to do so”.

    I believe in a working civil society everyone should be treated equally within the laws of the jurisdiction they are in. I also think that everyone should be able to defend themselves against any accusations in a reasonable amount of time. The UK Government needs to present evidence and give this owner a chance to defend themselves in court.

    Videography as always professional perfection, most appealing visually and audially throughout.

    • @brolohalflemming7042
      @brolohalflemming7042 Před 6 měsíci +7

      No, the taxpayer will be. As I understand the legal system, first the owner would need to get the court to agree the yacht was seized unlawfully and should be released. Then the owner can sue for the cost of that detention. This would probably include damages, depreciation, wages, services, and potentially loss of charter revenues. As it's a superyacht, this would get expensive and Grant Shapps won't be billed.

    This all about the UK government not wanting to loose face, it is all about the minister involved not wanting to loose face and his complete lack of shame for his incompetency and all about showing the unprofessional NCA trying to look for a needle in a haystack to justifying the seizure and failing (that is why they are dragging their feet on releasing their findings). Considering the British legal system as disgustingly inept as you can get (Post Office Workers - Hepatitis Scandal to name a just a couple of failures), this yacht will eventually sink at it's moorings and the tax payer will be used to pay the loss to the yacht owner.

The ONLY grounds for continuing the detention are that he is “connected to Russia” - by way of living there.

    Is that the only yacht that the British government is holding in harbors, from Russian business people. So the British government is doing it just for show, and tell.😅😅😅 Let the yacht go on its way.

      OK but at least maintain the integrity of the vessel so they can be sold at a high price and recuperate the money that it may have cost to put these people on trial if they ever go to trial. In America I would tell you you know what opens up let the homeless live in them

    If the captain and nominal owner are worried about the paint damage from the building site, why don't they just cover the yacht with a tarp??? Or won't MI5/6 allow them that because they won't be able to see inside, from the cameras nearby - and I don't mean the CCTV? Oh, and 'close friends' of Putin tend to fall out of windows!!!

    Why would you assume that the UK minions were working diligently to find a reason to sanction whoever owns the yacht? They have the yacht, and the courts seem to be fine with no actual reason for the detention. I'd expect the minions to be pursuing more useful pursuits, like afternoon tea.

I live in The USA, the level of corruption in government and The Main Stream Media if well beyond anything I ever dreamed it would be, sadly! It certainly appears government accountability in this case should be investigated!

    This detention UK & US are doing along with other countries may make these governments feel strong and righteous but what has this done to the Super Yacht industry and the hundreds if not thousands of in house workers and subcontractors. This is what should also be your focus.

    So the billionaire gets his yacht cared for by the UK Gov. for two years? Not sure who is playing who here. With shell companies ownership can be disguised. The UK may have a very good idea of what is going on before having proof. What billionaire Russian was allowed to be created without the aid of the Russian Govt? They are created and destroyed by its needs and whims, IMO.

    • @eSysmanSuperYachts
      @eSysmanSuperYachts  Před 6 měsíci

      the yacht is not 'being looked after' He still pays the bills for the crew, power, expenses etc. They are just preventing the vessel from leaving.
      In every other case, the person has been sanctioned when they have evidence they are helping the Russian regime.
