I honestly think that Paul George should make it just because he's a good defender and has the ability to score the ball. And the bench does kinda need another small forward

Jrue Holiday was very good for team USA in Tokyo, I would certainly give him a more serious chance, if for nothing else than his great defense. Spoelstra is gonna be the coach next Olympics and probably the next World Cup
Kerr spoke about it I think on media day before the season how he likes how Pop did one World Cup and one Olympics and then handed the job off to Kerr. I am curious if the American NT HC actually is going to take in account FIBA rules, which is advantageous for size and defense, or just will hang too much into NBA rules and hope to win college football style by outtalenting the rest with an All Star caliber roster.

      💭 JUST IMAGINE 💭
Witnessing the iconic presence of Jordan, Magic, and Bird sharing the basketball court as part of the legendary Dream Team in '92. Fast forward to today, and we have a contemporary spectacle featuring Curry, LeBron, and KD, in what could be considered their final collaboration before the twilight of their illustrious careers. There's no need for detailed explanations about these three; their undeniable status as today's top three basketball players is evident through their profound impact and success both on and off the court. The addition of Kawhi holds particular significance, as he stands as the nearest clone of Kobe and Jordan. Lastly, the inclusion of Embiid brings a dynamic mix of versatility reminiscent of Shaq and Hakeem, coupled with impressive outside shooting. Each of these players is undoubtedly destined for the Hall of Fame, and the synergy created by assembling them on a single team promises to be an unstoppable force.
Alternatively, consider the option of including Anthony Davis in the starting lineup, replacing Kawhi Leonard, if the goal is to create a taller lineup. The prospect of having three 7-foot-tall players in the backcourt is a significant advantage, ensuring a formidable presence both in perimeter and interior defense plus all three of them being agile. This adjustment could add an extra layer of dominance to the team's overall defensive capabilities.

💪8 STRENGTHS OF THIS LINEUP 💪
      📌SCORING ABILITY
      - The starting lineup boasts multiple elite scorers. Stephen Curry is known for his incredible three-point shooting, Kevin Durant is one of the most versatile scorers in the game, LeBron James is a scoring machine, Kawhi Leonard is an excellent two-way player, and Joel Embiid provides scoring in the post. This lineup can put up points in various ways, making it challenging for opponents to defend.
      📌VERSATILITY
      - Modern Basketball has become "positionless" and many players in this lineup are versatile and can play multiple positions. Except Curry, LeBron James, for instance, can play both forward positions and even act as a point forward. Kawhi Leonard is known for his defensive versatility and can guard multiple positions. Joel can also be a Stretch 5. This flexibility allows the coach to make strategic adjustments based on the opponent.
      📌DEFENSIVE PRESENCE
      - This lineup features strong defenders. All of them are great defenders and can even guard any position when in the league. This defensive prowess can create turnovers, lead to fast-break opportunities, and make it difficult for opponents to score.
      📌DEPTH
      - The bench is loaded with star players, providing a seamless transition between the starting lineup and the second unit. Players like Kyrie Irving, James Harden, Paul George, Jayson Tatum, and Anthony Davis could easily be starters on many teams. This depth allows for rest rotations without a significant drop in skill level.
      📌PLAYMAKING
      - The lineup includes several players with excellent playmaking abilities. Stephen Curry, LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden are all capable of creating scoring opportunities for themselves and their teammates. This playmaking ability adds another layer of complexity for opposing defenses.
      📌REBOUNDING
      - With Joel Embiid, Anthony Davis and Bam Adebayo in the frontcourt, this lineup has strong rebounding capabilities. This is crucial for securing second-chance points and limiting the opponent's offensive rebounds.
      📌EXPERIENCE
      - Many players in this lineup have a wealth of playoff and championship experience. This is invaluable, especially in high-pressure situations during the postseason.
      📌OFFENSIVE & DEFENSIVE BALANCE
      - The lineup strikes a good balance between offensive firepower and defensive solidity. This balance is essential for sustained success over the course of the Olympics.

⚠10 WEAKNESSES OF THIS LINEUP: ⚠
      📌 INJURY CONCERNS
      - Many of the players in this lineup have had injury concerns at various points in their careers. If key players, especially those in the starting lineup, were to face injuries, it could significantly impact the team's performance.
      📌 CHEMISTRY & EGO MANAGEMENT
      - Managing the egos and ensuring good chemistry among a lineup of superstar players can be a challenge. Balancing shot distribution and ensuring that each player buys into the team concept is crucial for success.
      📌 DEFENSIVE TRANSITION
      - Given the offensive firepower, players might focus more on scoring, potentially leading to lapses in defensive transition. Opponents could exploit this by pushing the pace and capitalizing on mismatches before the defense sets.
      📌 REBOUNDING IN SMALL LINEUPS
      - While this lineup has strong rebounders in Joel Embiid and Anthony Davis, going to smaller lineups, especially with shooters like Curry and Irving, might pose challenges in securing defensive rebounds against larger opponents.
📌 PERIMETER DEFENSE AGAINST QUICK GUARDS
      - Despite having strong perimeter defenders like Leonard and George, quick and agile point guards might pose a defensive challenge. Quick guards could exploit matchups and get to the rim or create open looks for teammates. Bringing Adwards
      📌 DEPTH IN CERTAIN POSITIONS
      - While the lineup is incredibly deep, there might be positions where the depth is not as robust. Injuries or foul trouble in specific positions could expose vulnerabilities.
      📌 COACHING ADJUSTMENTS
      - Opposing coaches may strategically adjust their game plans to exploit specific weaknesses or mismatches. A savvy coach might try to exploit defensive matchups or force certain players into uncomfortable situations.
📌 TRANSITIONING FROM START TO ROLE PLAYER
      - Not all players are used to playing in roles where they are not the primary option. Some of these players are accustomed to being the focal point of their respective teams, and adjusting to a more complementary role could take time.
      📌 THREE-POINT SHOOTING CONSISTENCY
      - While the lineup has excellent three-point shooters, there might be games where the team experiences cold shooting nights, especially if opponents devise strategies to limit open looks from beyond the arc.
      📌 MANAGING MINUTES & FATIGUE
      - Managing the minutes of star players to avoid fatigue and potential injuries becomes crucial. Finding the right balance between rest and playing time is a constant challenge.

      💡SO HOW WOULD THESE WORK?💡
As an exceptional shooter and playmaker, Curry would initiate the offense, stretch the floor with his three-point shooting, and create opportunities for his teammates. His ability to draw defenders and navigate pick-and-roll situations would create open looks for the other scorers on the team. Leonard would serve as both a primary scorer and a defensive anchor. His mid-range game and ability to score in isolation make him a versatile offensive threat. On defense, his elite skills would be crucial in guarding the opponent's best perimeter player, allowing the rest of the team to focus on their assignments. As one of the greatest all-around players, LeBron would act as a point forward, facilitating the offense, and using his basketball IQ to make high-impact plays. His ability to playmake and drive to the basket draws attention, opening up opportunities for shooters or cutting players. Durant brings scoring versatility, with the ability to score from anywhere on the court. He can create mismatches with his size and shooting ability. His scoring ability would alleviate pressure on others, and his length and defensive skills contribute to the team's overall defensive prowess. Embiid would anchor the defense in the paint, providing rim protection, rebounding, and a reliable scoring option in the post. His inside presence would force opponents to adjust their game plans, and his scoring in the post would provide balance to the outside shooting of Curry, Durant, and others.
Irving would provide a scoring spark off the bench, capable of creating his own shot and facilitating for others. His scoring ability adds another dimension to the second unit, and his chemistry with Durant & Lebron (former teammates in Brooklyn & Cleveland) could be leveraged in certain situations. Harden's playmaking and scoring ability make him a dynamic sixth man. He can create offense for himself and his teammates. His ball-handling and passing skills would be valuable, especially when sharing the floor with other bench players who can benefit from his playmaking. George is a two-way player who can contribute on both ends of the floor. His scoring and defensive capabilities make him a valuable asset off the bench. His defensive prowess can help maintain a high defensive standard when some of the starters are resting, and his scoring is an added bonus. Tatum provides scoring, rebounding, and defensive versatility. He can stretch the floor with his shooting. His ability to play both forward positions allows for lineup flexibility. His scoring and defensive skills would be valuable for maintaining a competitive edge with the second unit. Davis would anchor the defense in the paint and provide scoring versatility. His ability to stretch the floor and protect the rim makes him a unique asset. His presence ensures that there's no significant drop-off in rim protection and rebounding when Embiid is on the bench.
Adebayo provides additional frontcourt depth, bringing energy, athleticism, and shot-blocking capabilities. His ability to play both power forward and center adds versatility to the rotation, and he can provide valuable minutes as a rim protector. Booker is a dynamic scorer who can create offense efficiently. He adds another scoring threat off the bench. His scoring ability and shot creation would be crucial in maintaining offensive efficiency when some of the primary scorers are resting. Lillard, known for his deep shooting and clutch performances, can provide a scoring boost and playmaking off the bench. His ability to score from anywhere on the court makes him a valuable asset in late-game situations or when a scoring burst is needed. Westbrook's intensity, athleticism, and ability to push the pace make him a dynamic option off the bench. His energy and playmaking can change the tempo of the game, and he can be particularly effective in transition.
The key to the success of this lineup lies in the balance between offensive firepower, defensive prowess, and the ability of these elite players to complement each other's strengths. The coach's challenge would be to manage minutes effectively, leverage the depth of talent, and optimize lineups based on matchups and game situations. Additionally, the players' willingness to share the ball, play within a system, and prioritize team success over individual achievements would be crucial for a championship-caliber team.

I’d be shocked if PG13 didn’t make it, there’s better scorers out there but he’s an elite defender which is extremely undervalued, and imo puts him over lots of guys. Could even see him starting for that reason. I don’t see a world where Booker makes the team and George doesn’t

    • @SBGaming3
      @SBGaming3 Před 2 měsíci

Booker was the 3rd most important player on the 2020 team (mostly due to his defense). He's also become a better defender since then and his defense fits FIBA style better than PG's does. Booker also provides a lot more off-ball offensively than PG.

I don't think Dame makes it, the bench is very small after your centers, even though I'm not a PG fan, I'd go PG. Out of Hali, Ant and Dame, they can all shoot, but Dame doesn't have a lot of other strings to the bow, Ant can do a bit of everything and play big, Hali even though he's a good shooter would be there more for his play making, there's plenty of other scorers around him, Dame's the odd one out when you need at least one more around the SF/PF size apart from Tatum on the bench

  • @nolanrussell6326
    @nolanrussell6326 Před 3 měsíci

I think Derrick White will make the roster. USA doesn't need 12 scorers, they need guys that can fill a role and make an impact without the ball and on defense. Remmber thaf Jrue Holiday completely outplayed Dame, Lavine, Booker, and Beal at the last Olympics. Once you've already got guys like KD, Steph, Tatum, etc. on the roster, the value of someone like Ant and Dame decreases, whereas the value of someone like Derrick White increases
