It’s a common misconception, cruise control does get worse gas mileage, it was never meant for improving MPG’s but a convenience to eliminate fatigue on long trips

Everything could play a factor in gas mileage on a road trip, headwinds, tailwind, crosswind how much fuel is in the tank because that is weight, temperature, etc...my 2015 express 5.7 extended cab always get 21-22 on road trips but I have the 3.21 gears which are great for lightly loaded road trips...

Thanks for the vid. I have a 2019 RAM with 3.92 and factory 22's. My hwy mileage is much better than my previous truck, 09 F150/5.4/3.55's. Yeah adaptive cruise control still doesn’t know when to “coast” it out. When they create a system that goes 0 throttle (especially downhill) that would be ideal and your numbers would be better I bet. Definitely making me feel I didn’t miss out by opting for the 5.7 non e torque. Best I’ve gotten is about 18 all highway. Learning the sweet spots though. Get used to that, if you’re doing city driving, not babying the gas and driving it ‘normally’ you’re going to hover in around 10mpg, that’s what you get from these 5.7L Hemi Rams. I have 2021 classic, 3.92 gears, 5.7L and regular driving to and from work city I am around 10-12mpg. If I do highway driving and reset the dash I might see 20mpg briefly, but that usually drops to around 14-18mpg. The window stickers are lies, and people who say they are getting 20-25mpg consistently are full of it, OR they’re resetting the dash constantly, cruise control or baby the gas and ONLY highway driving to get even close to
that kind of mpg. These Rams are NOT fuel efficient without some exact behaviour and conditions.

  • @outthedoorlife

Just bought a 22 Limited Etorque with the 3.92. My first Ram. Nowhere close to any of the GM V8s I've owned over decades. Love the interior but fuel economy is terrible. I think a software update, perhaps tuning the first few gears would help from a rpm change. This truck needn't run at such high rmp low speed or in 8th. I had a 8sp 6.2 from GM that had AFM, 8 to 4 when cruising at points where it was very flat or downhill, which is the same as Ram.. the 3.92 kills fuel economy. Nice off the start but the Hemi has plenty of HP for that anyway. Hope economy improves after break in... that or a tune. I also hate hate the small tank.. should have looked for the bigger, fewer stops, more distance.

I really enjoy the Ram overall though.
