    I'm hoping that SteamOS 3.0 stands on it's own as a respectable distro that's accessible to all instead of being a nothing backend like the last attempt. I hope Valve throws their weight and makes it a fierce competitor in the desktop space.

    I'm against hiding "thumb down" in CZcams. A good video never gets review bombed for no reason. Maybe they should implement something like Steam has for anti-review-bombing.

    • @SnowyRVulpix

      Good videos get downvote bombed often. Usually when trolls don’t like the creator or company.
      As a creator (not this account), i despise the thumbs down button. It doesn’t tell me why someone hated my video, and just causes an anxiety attack.

    Something I'd definitely like to see from you is how to take an existing Linux install - or select a distro/DE in advance, to make it useful for specific use cases. E.g for gaming - how to add Wine, Steam, Lutris, utilities like ProtonGE (that you covered). For theming - let's say with KDE - installing Kvantum, regular themes, widgets, etc.
    Kind of like tutorial series for newcomers/simple users who want to expand their Linux functionality, containing how-tos, tips and tricks, from a knowledgeable and experience user.
    And also for existing users, just sharing from your experience. There's always something to discover and improve with Linux.
    And I'm talking about as a baseline - giving people the tools and knowledge to do things they didn't know before - not "how to do this very specific thing that maybe only a few people are interested in".

    • @LinuxForEveryone
      @LinuxForEveryone  Před 2 lety +1

      You may not believe this, but I had 12 chapters of a book finished that were designed to serve as the basis for a series like you've described. I even had some custom graphics created and 2 or 3 videos in production. But I waited too long, and the Linux world moves too fast.
      Almost NONE of my gaming content would have been relevant now! I need to go back to the drawing board but be quicker about it.

    I know why...
    When you expect Linux to make progress by relying on donations and volunteers, the result becomes some something you don't like.
    For example: Gimp vs Adobe.
    While Gimp relies on donations and volunteers, Adobe keeps full time developers and pay them full time.
