The DCG414B 4-1/2 in. - 6 in. (115 mm - 150 mm) Grinder with Kickback Brake is maximized for power and durability.
It delivers 13 Amp power as compared to the D28144N with the portability and convenience of cordless through DEWALT's FlexVolt technology. The DCG414B comes with the tool only.
From DeWALT-
-13 Amp equivalent power
-Brake engages when trigger is released, stopping speeds of 1.5 seconds with standard grinding wheel (4-1/2 in. x 1/4 in. bonded abrasive wheel, non-hubbed)
-Kickback brake engages when a pinch, stellar bind-up event is sensed and the electronic brake engages with maximum force to quickly stop the wheel, reduce the movement of the grinder and shut the grinder off
-E-clutch activates in less than a tenth of a second when a pinch/stall is detected, shutting down the motor
-9,000 RPM speed allows the use of up to 6 in. wheels
-Allows for up to 6 in. wheel size for both cutting and grinding applications

DeWalt should be paying you money! This video is way better than their instruction manual and YT videos. Shame on them. Thank you.
This is the best cordless angle grinder on the market. I really love the fact you can use a 6" disc. It's ballistic power and has decent run time for it.
I work for a major industrial supply chain. This video has helped me understand the product that I'm selling. Thank you for the info. on the FLEXVOLT series ! I'm going to work with more confidence in selling these now. Good Job, Sir !
Just sell the latest updated versions as this is has a recall
So awesome. The cordless tool innovation lately is just great.
+Justin McCullough totally agree, abs with no shortage of RPMs 👍
Always check out ur vids before buying thanks keep up the good work 👍
I grew up using a corded dewalt drill which was really great quality. I needed an angle grinder for some metal work so I just purchased their dcg415 angle grinder yesterday. While it came with a paper manual that I read, videos are so much more helpful.
I spent hours today watching tutorial videos on DeWalt angle grinders. While they were all somewhat informative, yours was the most helpful as far as putting on and taking off discs, how to adjust the guard, etc. Your camera angles were great and made it really easy to see exactly what you were doing. Had to subscribe!
Even though your model is a little different it was close enough for me to figure out how to use mine safely.
I haven't really researched if Makita or Milwaukee or any of the other brands put out instructional videos for each of their products but if I find one that does, I would start buying their products instead for that reason alone. I don't know why DeWalt thinks that everyone who purchases their tools magically knows how to use them. If they threw up a 5-10 min basic tutorial video on their website or on CZcams that goes over how to get started, basic functions, which accessories and disc sizes are compatible, etc, that would be a game changer.
Great video! I like the safety shut off features.
+Wendy Sparks me too, very nice feature
Great review. I bought one with the 9ah battery which gives it longevity. Thanks for the review.
Thank you, I still like this grinder
You are great at reviewing products!!!
Best cordless grinder! For now
Awesome. I love my angle grinder. When I need it it works really well. I don't use it that often so the cord is no problem. Having said that the cordless version definitely has its advantages. Thanks for a great review.
+parra J everyone should at least check out an angle grinder, I credit my buddy Steve for showing me how to cut tile with one.
You need to leave the bottom flange on for all discs. That is a nice option to quickly change the head direction. As a former welder that is the first time I've seen that, thanks.
electronic brake means that when you release the trigger the current reverses and stops the disc instead of free wheeling
What are your thoughts about it not having a paddle switch?
Any videos (demo/how-to) showing the DCG414 with the N409540 Type 1 Guard and a 6" diamond cutting wheel?
+theotherkingdoms none yet
Good video will help a lot when I buy it.
Hows the battery life with heavy usage?
did u buy that charger and battery separate?
Can you please explain more about the flanges used for mounting a flat wheel.....do both flanges come with the tool? How do you remove them....thank you
The spacers/flanges he showed did come with the tool. The outer one acts like a nut to tighten over the disc. You can either do finger tight or use the allen key. The one that goes between the grinding/cutting disc and the motor requires no tools to remove. It is on loosely and kept from falling off due to being sandwiched by the disc and the tightening nut.
Your video has the best review for this angle grinder.
+Ghassan AL Mashaoor thanks, it's a great tool.
true I bought a new one today.
+Ghassan AL Mashaoor you'll have to let me know what you think 👍
It's amazing and wonderful
How about Run time.? How long can we use with 9ah battery.? Thanks ✌️
Another great video Jeff. Of course it's one of the best because it's a DeWalt tool! Lol looks very powerful and easy to use. Thanks for the info and the shoutout!
+Tommy DeWalt thanks and glad to give you a shoutout, do you have this grinder?
Home Repair Tutor Tools & Gear I don't have it yet! Lol but it's definitely in my wish list on Amazon. Along with a whole bunch of other DeWalt Flexvolt tools
+Tommy DeWalt 👍👍👍
Hey you spun it too I donethe same thing right when I pulled it out of the Box
Test out the rest of the flexvolt kittttttttt!
+Ameer Ahmed trying to get more tools, hopefully soon 👍
Great review hope you review the circular saw
+jerry o connor should that be the next FlexVolt review?
Yes please
just got the FlexVolt circular saw...review on the way
not bad of a deal pretty good price range
+Shekky Bowen it's not bad, I like that you can use 4 1/2 and 6" accessories
Pretty good video overall. One thing that you should never do is torque the collar but with the wrench. Hand tight is sufficient. The first contact with material will tighten the wheel sufficiently.
Very nice video! Is this battery compatible with 18V Dewalt tools? How much time takes to charge this monster battery?
+akairov I could be wrong but this is compatible with 20V tools. But if that's a mistake, hopefully someone corrects me. I didn't time the battery charge but it wasn't more than 1.5 hours. Pretty typical charge time
Sorry, I did mistake. Yes 20V. It means I can use all 60V battery features using my 20V tools.
+akairov awesome 👍
I just got one of these and I know nothing about this kind of tool. I noticed you put a spacer underneath that flat disc. Where did you buy that spacer because I don't remember seeing that in my box. Is it needed for all flat blades?
I bought one of these grinders and that spacer was already mounted to the spindle, with the threaded nut mini disc thing on top of it, holding it on.
Great video
5:45 Protip: Always remove the battery any time you're changing the blade! It only takes a moment of accidentally turning it on for a tool like this to mangle one or both hands.
The best Dewalt
+Steve Jobs this is a good one that's for sure 👊🏻
It's sad that most of DeWalt's higher end products are not easily available outside the US.
2:00-225 you said the exact same thing twice pretty much.
e clutch is meant to prevent disc grabbing and launching the grinder aka load transfered to user like u said.
brake is so as soon as you finish your cut / grind you can set the tool down.
+Curtis Richardson you're exactly right 👍
Can it cut concrete
best cordless angle grinder I've ever used.
+Jesus Vazquez plenty of power
How to reduce the rpm of the machine?
DeWalt flexvolt 12 A/H 60 volts test it out
Most in depth video of this grinder
+animal79thecat thanks 👍
It's funny the tool voltages in the USA are 20v and 60v, but in the UK they're 18v and 54v - I wonder why they're different.
That thing is a beast!
Brian Schnurr it sure is
so no cons?
I had no idea you could rotate the head by 90 degrees each way. Nobody else talked about that in their videos, at least not that I saw anyway.
Sir ,today i bought a dcg 414 54v angle grinder.earlier i thought i can run it with my dcf887 impact driver battery of 2ah but the real problem is the battery wont fit in the tool .can u help me or suggest me how i an fit my 2ah dewalt battery in my dcg414.
You can't fit 20v battery in the 60v tools... Only 60v battery in 20v tools.
You need to buy a 60v battery for the grinder
@@somethingtrulyhorrifying sir thanks for the advice.nearly 15 days ago i bought a 9ah flexvolt battery for 170$.
Good stuff
+chupalia thanks
Any idea why '54V' and a '60V' both exist?
The only difference seems to be the lack of a B at the end of the product model. Both output 1700W of power.
I assume its just a slightly lower amp output to higher voltage for the 60V but id like to know for sure.
I just bought a 54V dewalt angle grinder because i assumed it was the best available.
Aussie Floggie it's a regional thing. 54v is the same as 60v in usa. Dumb marketing.
Tommy Tench thanks man
If a reciprocating saw had design alterations it could cut tile and side file.
Where can I buy a new set of flanges? Both the locking flange and the other one? Is there a universal kit I can purchase? And what about the wheel guards?
Thanks.
How can I make DeWalt send me some tools
what about run time
Your description of the electronic brake was incorrect, an electronic brake works by forcing the tool to stop the disc from spinning almost immediately after you let go of the trigger. This safety feature is helpful in that if you loose control of the tool and let the trigger go it wont keep spinning and damage you or your work, it also allows you to set the tool down quickly instead of having to wait for the disc to spin down (like old style grinders)
Can you use a 20 Volt battery?
Not on this. A Flexvolt tool needs the big Flexvolt battery. However, the Flexvolt Advantage tools can use either type of battery. The presence of the word "Advantage" has a big effect on the meaning of the Flexvolt label.
Can this grinder be used as a sander?
+Tony Benjumea the directions show all the different accessories...can't remember all of them, what kind of sanding?
You can find 40 grit sanding disks commonly. I have not seen anything finer. It can be used for rough sanding especially when you need to remove a lot of wood quickly. Angle grinders are definitely not suited for fine sanding.
One important detail you left out.. battery life....??
How long the battery lasts?
if at full load with a 5amp battery it'd be 12 minutes
... dewalt sent me this ... :))) this is more than rewiu .... is a comercial advertisement .... ofcourse is a gud angle grinder .... but a real presentation would be much better if it were made by a professional ... who also used the tools of the old generation .... to evaluate the quality / performance of this dewalt after about 2 years of use and compared to the real quality or heavy duty standards from the past ....
wau what an extraordinary tool what performance what power .... all are good when they are new ... let's see after they are put to a little serious work
home depot as the dewalt 60v grinder complete kit $299 plus one extra 60v battery for free.
+victor feliciano whoa!! That's an amazing deal. Is it an online only thing?
Home Repair Tutor Tools & Gear
Hi !
I just took advantage of that deal - The Home Depot app said it was an online only deal, but my local store in Lake Worth, Texas had them in-store.
I figured it would a Mail In for the extra battery kinda deal, but no, just took the regular Grinder, Charger, battery kit up to the register with the extra battery, and they worked their mojo, and I left with the kit and a free battery ! 👍🏼
Sorry to tell you though, the offer just expired on New Year's Eve- the day I bought it ...
Is that Bob Morley's (The actor, not Marley) big brother?
Wow. Really? How many cuts per-charge?
Depends on blade and material. What are you cutting?
LOL, yes it does. And just how many more cuts would it have made on the material you were cutting?
Pretty sweet grinder, but being that I own mostly Milwaukee Tools, I don't want to start another brand!
+ysrpilot here ya, it can get expensive real quick
Last tools made in America. Works for me.
Nice review! Thanks!!
got mine tool only for 120 and battery is 80
buy at any home depot store or on line... ck it out at any home depot. i got my at home depot $299 complete plus free extra 60v battery, right NOW
+victor feliciano that was a sweet deal
You don't need to tighten the wheel with a wrench. As it turns it stays tight.
As the braking is applied, the spindle stops fast and the disc wants to keep spinning, and in theory could cause the nut to spin loose and come off if it wasn't tightened enough beforehand. In practice, I agree, it has stayed on for me without needing serious tightening.
@@dubiouslycrisp i have had it happen but it doesn't do it often. I have the dewalt flathead 20v grinder awesome tool
Why is it called a grinder and not a cutter?
+Bobby Slater you can use it grind or cut, but good question 👍
It grinds its way through a material using friction.
Because it is powerful enough to be used as a real grinder. Most “cut-off” tools in the battery operated configuration simply do not have the power to operate as a grinder. This grinder can be used as either. I own and use this tool on a regular basis, I can attest that it definitely has the power to grind. All of that being said the cordless version can still not compare to a 120V corded grinder, but it is getting pretty dang close.
I just bought the new 60 Volt Dewalt sawzall.
+AccordBass12 sweet, what are your thoughts?
I cut up some scrap 2 by 4s and it works quite well. As a electrician I will mostly use it for cutting EMT, Service wire, PVC conduit, and 2 by 4s from time to time. The battery on my 20 volt Impact def gave it some extra power and run time. the $300 price tag is a little to high tho. should be around the $250 range.
The prices on their 60v line just dropped around to that range and the bare tools are pretty cheap once you have a few batteries already.
I had a lot of old pipes and rebar to cut up and from what I read czcams.com/users/postUgkxPDBfLu68o58Aw85O_J-zIFfjJARBhp-3 this would be the tool for the job. Since I had never used one, I watched a couple of youtube videos and I'm so glad I did. Some really good safety tips, which I followed, and this tool did a splendid job. One good thing to know is the weight of the tool puts just about the right amount of pressure on the metal I was cutting, so I didn't have to use a lot of pressure, which is more likely to jam the tool. It made fast work of my job.
you seems like henry cavill
Where is the comment on run time?
Because this could rather be the one for a downside.
Depends on what you're using it for. A cut off wheel is no problem for it, if you have a spare battery to swap out you can cut metal all day. If you're doing alot of heavy grinding get a corded one.
anyone who needs do much explanation of the boring details shouldn't even touch something with this much power. GET ON WITH IT!
This one fails and they already made a new model dcg418
That’s not a standard charger....
Holding the grinder cross arms. Not a good idea for safe use. Toggle part left hand vertical handle right hand. Be 100% safe.
That seems like an impressive tool and a very detailed review..Thanks mate.....Just something for you to consider though when cutting different materials ,is to wear full wrap around goggles for eye protection.Metal fillings or similar can still get past those Clark Kent glasses. You had ear protection but i could not see any lung protection.I felt obliged to mention this as i damaged one of my eyes years ago using a grinder cutting metal....Cheers mate
+RICHY MARK NORMAN thank you for the safety recommendations and you're absolutely right. Lung, eye and ear protection are very important with grinders. I've been wanting to get a full face shield for certain work. And recommendations?
never use the fast charger. itll kill your batteries
New products are released. X locks, fast changing wheels, angle grinders, makita, Bosch, wins wins.....4 inches , up to 9 inches ....tools.cordless.corded....
Same power as Milwaukee 18v grinder
That talk about the soft-start protecting you is a bunch of marketing wank. A soft-start is a physical necessity, they have been in electric power tools forever. It's needed so the tool won't just blow up in your hand due to the enormous inrush current.
What's up with the porn music?
+MrFenwayfool lol, had to spice it up this week
So how exactly does MrFenwayfool classify "PORN MUSIC". Maybe he watches too much.LOL
Always use both nuts. Taking away the back nut takes away all support on the disc, especially for grinding. Made me cringe.
+Jason P totally understand your concern yet that's what the directions call for with the large discs. When looking at the directions they have good guidance on when to use both flanges, most of the time this will be the case
Home Repair Tutor Tools & Gear If the manufacturer says it can be done then it's on them. Quite bizarre but oh well.
The numbers on the boxes for tools are so inaccurate they are honestly not worth reading.
+John Fraser understand your skepticism...I like reading the boxes though, there's still a lot of objective info on them
Home Repair Tutor Tools & Gear that's true
Seems like a bought promotion...
+Johannes Flipo I can assure you it's not, I don't do paid reviews. Tools have been a part of my life since being a kid. So I suppose my enthusiasm is from those memories
This is the best can you send me a gift please 😔😔😔😔I can't by this ilove DeWalt
Not that good with tools huh ...
Meh. I will stick with AVE's channel. More in depth, more experienced & funnier.
You appear to be really uncomfortable with the tool, didn't really push it or try to bog it down or even show it grinding. Your run time comment must be based on the marketing wank on the box. Ave killed the battery in 5.5 minutes - hard core grinding on a piece of angle iron.
Still a great tool. I recently picked one up on Craigslist with a battery & charger.
Hate that the 20V battery doesn't fit it though. Something you could have also delved into.
I couldn't even watch half the video. Dude that's not the standard charger and the battery doesn't have fuel its the charge level....
