WARNING!!! Read before buying one. I own one. It’s great for sweet gum and wood with little knots and high moisture. Fair warning, if you come in contact with a knot on oak or similar, you can break a wrist or arm easily. When you hit a knot it can yank tool right from your hand. If your drill has throttle lock on it, can be very dangerous out of control. I’ve owned mine for years and built many pieces of furniture and deck railing with it. Be careful and avoid knots!!!
. I would set it up on a drill press of some sort.
This is the information that people come to the comment section for! What a great group of people within this channel's community.
Thank you for the information and GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.
Kinda like a powered auger for digging post holes, they'll kick you in the ribs or liver harder than an MMA fighter lol.
Remove the handle and replace it with a longer handle. Most large drills use 3/4" npt threads for the second handle.
during all the chaos going on its nice to watch some great quality videos
Working in the field of surveying I thank you for not pulling your iron rod and putting your post right where it was.
I've never thought about that. It happen alot? Wouldn't surprise me really, alot of dumb people out there
We are lucky to have a 200 year old locust grove on our farm. Locust posts last longer than stones. 😃
I’m right there with you on the election analysis. 👍🏼
I'm so glad this videos over 20 minutes long.
I agree, I really enjoyed this video.

@@waveoflight that’s what she said
If I wouldn't read it in your comment I wouldn't have realized it was so long!
I felt like it was a 10 minute video
Great job as always wranglerstar!
Agreed
Really makes me wish I could be working outside instead of going to classes.
@@michaelkork6773 absolutely, the weather has been really nice in Iowa this week and I would love to get out there during the day
You'll also be saying the same thing I say each day but change to "instead of sitting at this desk"
The story of an american dream.. go to school for 20 years dreaming of being on your own with a nice job and getting a family started, then you spend the next 50 years putting all your free time into working through all of your healthy years either killing your body or killing your mind and soul just waiting for the day you save up enough change to retire working for a company who pays you a fraction of what you are actually making them from your work. Then you finally get to the point of being able to fulfill your dreams and either your too tired and body hurts too much to even want to do anything besides nothing or you get yourself to the point where all you know is work and cant feel normal unless you work so you work until you cant do anything or you die before retirement where all that youve hoped if that did happen is if everything youve spent your entire life doing will reap its benefits to the ones youve been doing it for but have no control of if it does happen..
Makes you wonder about all the millions of lives spent doing tasks that they either hated doing, were forced to do, or hurt them doing it just to ultimately have your lifes work maybe be seen for a bit when youre gone but like everything does, returns to the earth from where it came and the legacy of you within a generation or 2 will be forgotten and even all the blood sweat and tears dropped from the hopes and dreams will dry and the next generations will keep building like the roaches of the earth we are until we cant anymore.. all the bodies of the lost souls of the once living all churned and processed into the same dirt that builds the earth.. boggles the mind,. Some say it is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all but if ignorance is bliss than would the closest thing to a heaven one could possibly have and know would be to not be mentally aware enough to be able to feel love at all? Where your happiest moments in life is when you are able to laugh With someone but are too mentally inept to realize whats really going on.. lifes just a series of thoughts and actions. Dont let your actions become your thoughts, make your actions build thoughts to build actions and keep one another building.. someday has no action, today does...
I'm with you brother.
I live in the rather hot humid and swampy South. There is a trick you can use on those homemade fence post to make them last longer in the ground without rotting. Get yourself a bucket of roofing tar or Roofing latex. Go to Walmart or your local hardware supply store get you some of those cheap screw hooks used to hang up flower pots. Screw them into the end of the fence post so you can string something threw it and hang the fence post up. Then dip the end of the fence post you're going to stick into the ground into whichever you bought Roofing tar or Roofing latex. Then hang it up somewhere where it won't make a big mess and let the roofing pitch or latex dry. Once it dries you can put it in the ground and it'll keep moisture, fungus and just about everything else that'll cause that wood to rot from getting to it. It'll add years to the life of that fence post.
Thanks for that super tip.
Another good way to make them last longer is to put them down the other way than he does in the video. top down instead of bottom and the post won't draw water and rot.
@@PanzerKunzt sure makes sense. I’ll remember that, thanks for sharing

i love how calming his videos are. really allow me to de-stress
My wife and I recently bought a house and some land in the countryside. We realize we're happiest when we're out there like you are, tending to the property outdoors. Working up a sweat, seeing the fruits of our labor and sleeping like we never do in the city. And though I think we're probably on opposite sides of the political spectrum I've found myself drawing the same humble conclusion as you. Turn off the tv, turn off Facebook and tend to the things you have influence on. Your family, your relationships, your immediate community. In that simple exercise we become just humans and not democrats and Republicans and on that I think we would all get along just fine. Thanks for making content.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 well said!
I second this sentiment. In providing for ourselves and our community, in learning about working with our hands, producing things ourselves, we find things that we all agree on. There is nothing divisive about making a perfect mortise & tenon joint. To me, these simple things transcend this division that seems to be worsening in our country.
@@kevingoff7233 The communists want to own your mortice and tenon. They probably have your school already. Do you want a church that is oblivious?
@@jakebredthauer5100 this is quite possibly the most ignorant thing I've heard this year, which is saying quite a bit. What communists? This is the baseless divisive fear mongering that got us where we are.
@@kevingoff7233 You are saying that communism is not real. You are saying that the division is baseless. That is the type of psychotic thinking that has allowed it to progress as far as it has.
You should be aware that under communism no private property is allowed. That would include a mortise and tenon.
I am not sure if I Correctly interpreted your reply. Because communism is an anti-christian the churches should be warning people. You might be one of those anti intellectuals. If you would like to reply, please be precise on what you are referring to.
Ya know, these videos are just a work of art. I may never have a homestead or do this type of work. But it brings peace to my day to watch, thank you for all the work you go through to provide this for our viewing.

I don't know why, but the drawknife sound while removing the bark is so soothing!
Mounting that clamp to a tree has workedout brilliantly, so simple but so effective. Nothing quite as satisfying as using a well made/well designed tool👍

That’s gonna take forever
Looks like it only took 25 minutes

So many people have the exact same idea but even though many things about the ideas you have explained are definitely awesome there is something much more wonderful for our nation. Our founding fathers in my opinion would be turning in their graves if they saw how much of the the American public has these attitudes that are not the best for us. Cast something good is wonderful but the best is much more helpful. The greatest power is understanding the greatest freedom is knowing the truth and this means knowing it completely. Most people don't begin to know the truth completely. Well they definitely begin but if you know the saying there is much more then they have ever realized. We wouldn't have millions of people making similar comments if this was not the case. You can tell by the comments of so many people how powerful their understanding is or very clearly that it still need to be greater and even though it is awesome in many ways it can and seriously needs to be much better with life changing understanding. If you want to know the most valuable knowledge you could send me a message.

Amen, that heavy heart feeling is my sentiment as well. If our vote doesn't count....what else can we do support the country we love? Very 😥
We can work hard to elect people at the county and state level that respect the Constitution and will change the voting laws to ensure a fair election. Look at Philadelphia; they have elected Progressive Democrats that will not change their ways. The people there have no chance of a fair election until they vote the bastards out.

Best thing I gained from this is that all your videos about sharp'ning shows up here. From the draw knife to the axe to.........Everything is much better with sharp tools!! Thanks Cody!!!
That music and working with the draw knife reminded me of the woodwright shop on pbs. Then that sweet pencil sharpener emerged.
“Der kleine Wald” sounds like a good name to me!
Was the 4:21 - 4:28 SFX or what?! cause it gave me chills ...
The small woods in German
The German people respect the forest and they are usually liter free and many have paths and trim dishes (?) (Places to exercise on walks ) through the forest. I went on dozens of Volksmarchs in the different forest during my 8 years stationed in Germany. Liter is about as rare as fangs on a rooster in Germany.

"Good morning and welcome to Wrangle wood"
The post maker is great.
You can affect change through your family and community but also nationally and even globally through your channel. As depressing as this situation is, you have a means to change things, it may not be enough to change the route our country is on, but God has blessed you with the ability and means to do what you can.
Honestly, you hit the nail on the head. You've got control over you and yours. Love God and Love His people.
Depressing is that busy road
Lilliput landing from gulliver's travels is a good name for the land.
Thanks for your thoughts, and the quote.
Great thought at the end!
Just use the draw knife or chainsaw and reduce the diameter to aid in the starting of the tool
On the “My Self Reliance” CZcams site he chars the ends of wood put into the ground to reduce rot and bug damage. I am not sure how it works but it might be worth investigating for your fence. It looks really good.
The sounds of the forest. The fire crackling and the owl calling is just majestic. Thanks for the reprieve!

You could call the little forest area "Sweet Pea Woods"
I always though it was a 'Copse'
I love the drawknife, it is such an elegant tool
The sure speed and versatility of those tenon tools open a world of possibilities our ancestors could have never imagined.
I would almost recommend taking some used motor oil to paint the fence posts from the bottom to ground level. Help keep them from rot, bugs and such.

Shutting it all back down in the spring if all goes as planned for democrats.
Have you thought about charring the ends of the posts that go in the ground so they last longer? You have a fire there already to do it.
Char them dried or charr them green?
@@jakebredthauer5100 I've seen both ways done. Something about the charring action makes them resistant to rot. I've seen it done on boards used to sheath a roof as well. Four boards ties together into a square tube to char the insides and then flipped to do the other side.

I like the pure sounds of the tools :)
I will admit the radio silence that cam from youtube the first 2ish days after the election was very erie.
Enjoyed the video. As a Canadian I find Trump's actions perplexing. When Al Gore lost in 2000 he went through the legal battles and then conceded graciously even though he lost with questions unanswered. He felt robbed but thought for the sake of the country he'd better do what was best. Now that it's happening to the Republicans it's completely different?! There may be a double standard here. Inward reflection is required for perspective. I wish all Americans well.
It is nothing more than grown men (and women) being overly dramatic. You win some, you lose some. The only way to make real progress is to vote in representatives and elected officials who have your best interest in mind. And drop the partisan politics and come together to pass legislature that benefits everyone. Politics are so bad right now, that the two parties will almost certainly oppose any measures proposed by the "opposition". It's a damn shame that we have elected officials out there acting like children. And it's a bigger shame, that they are repeatedly re-elected.
@@ve8628 Amen on that.
Gore spent 35 days, I believe. It hasn't been close to that yet and there appears to be more 'odd' behavior than before.
