If you are getting into the Night Vision game, you'll eventually need an IR (Infrared) Laser for aiming. Enter the Steiner OTAL-C IR Laser.
The OTAL (Offset Tactical Aiming Laser) is a Class 1 infrared laser. Meaning it operates at 0.7mW of power. While it is significantly less power than the military counterpart, it offers plenty of power to reach out 100-200 yards and even further. One AA battery will power the unit for 5 continuous hours.

Most of these test out at 0.58-0.62, very consistent. So between 5-6 mW. Our guys work hard to keep these going out in tip top order. For what they are, I see them as a fantastic value for the civilian market wanting to get into a rugged piece of gear to train with.
Good job on keeping it plain....many people spend too much time with fluff and we lose interest but I stayed focused with yours
I was literally about to buy one of these when my stimulus hits, glad this review dropped today to make me feel more comfortable about doing so
Solid review Ivan .. Thanks again for all u do ! 🤙🏻💯
Props to yall for sucking me in with intro music by Rancid! 🤘🏼
Mrs Shadow: “We should upgrade our security system”
Me: “I bought NOD’s and better earpro for you and the kids”
I pity the poor jackass who breaks into your house!!😀👍 he thinks hes alone, lights go on, and he is surrounded by you, the wife, and kids decked out Like a cross behind some hard pipe hittin SAD Operators and the Scooby Doo gang!!
@@beaubooker433 🤣🤣🤣 Ive been saying for years its the Kids the threat has to worry about. Poor bastard will be begging me to shoot them after the kids are done.
Solid review as always Ivan 🤙
Thx for the video. Good stuff.
Love the Rancid.
Another fantastic review Sir!! You are flat out, a ninja!! Death on a jet powered skateboard!! When I grow up, if I am 1/10th your mad skillz, I will be a success!!
Another good one!
I like Steiner, I've been running the DBAL i2 for a couple year's now & i really dig it!! Would buy an A3 over the L3 peq. Great video brother.
Great video 👍!
Dude great video
Dude, really digging these videos and approach, explaining the “what”. Nice. Thanks.
I have one and love it. I do not need a visible laser and I would rather run what ever illuminator I want. These and the Holosun IR lasers are great. The steiner has a much better switch though
That rifle is badass
Nice. I always wondered what that unit looks like under nods,
So I had heard about IR treatment on "tactical clothing" but oof that plate carrier versus the other was so visible it makes me want to be double checking a lot of stuff. So much to consider and another win for @KitBadger
Multicam Alpine...
@@KitBadger So just throw a regular multilcam rig on top of that or should I be concerned about multicam alpine in alpine conditions??? sounds like a question you're uniquely equipped to answer :)
Also dope that you have an alpine carrier
I got my fresh professional human tshirt in blue. Wish it could come signed!
20in blasters are the cats ass broh!
The bird flies above can see the illumination though you can’t . And range lasers. The nv ecotech is un detected that’s why the military uses it. Does not use any illumination inside the dot sight . Eotech has infrared crosshairs you can switch to .
Great info. How do ya zero something like that? Isn't there a IR laser system out there that zeros tandem with a day light laser? Great vid.
It's good
Great review. I currently run the DBAL, but really like the size of this OTAL. How is the weight balance on that rifle with laser, light and can on? I’ve found on my set up, having the DBAL further back seems to be the happy medium to keep that front end from being so heavy when suppressed.
Man I wish it also had visible laser.
Same. When I zeroed mine last I refused to wear my tacticool helmet or anything at the range so I managed to hold my PVS14 in one hand (daylight filter on and gain down low) and finangle the rifle with the other. That was 3 years ago and still holds zero. Great little laser though ngl.
@XJ290 hey, you got it done
But what does the Grey Death Adder think of the OTAL?
Hey thats what i run. Works great.
GREAT VIDEO, LIKED AND SUBBED YOUR CHANNEL
This is the version our overlords at the FDA allow us plebs to have.
buy a russian laser if you want more power
Buy secondary market.
Just some food for thought brother. You lean back when you are shooting under NOD's.
How high does it sit above the rail. I have an lpvo that has a 1 inch scope mount. Would I have to side mount it or could I mount it on top?
Where did you get the multicam jacket?
Is an IR illuminator still recommended? Otherwise, this fits the bill nicely.
Please make a video on how you zero it.
Solid info Ivan. I've found a Class 1 aiming laser is plenty for my use, and can't justify the difficulties and costs of getting the higher powered lasers. BUT... I do wish I could easily get a higher powered laser illuminator. Hoping your take on the vampire is next in the series. If so, does it do a good job as a regular light, as well? I'm currently using a streamlight IR supertac, but switching it out for night shooting with my old surefire light. Don't want to hang more stuff on my rifle than I have to.
Been using vampire m600 for over a year here. The light itself is virtually indestructible. However output is somewhat low in comparison to others at 350 lumens. Overall highly recommend
What's the song at the intro??
Anyone else remember the mini thermal sights that’s what Steiner used to do
I'm new to this stuff. So I can spend a couple hundred more and get the built in IR illuminator? Or is best to have a separate one? Visible laser too?
Inforce gen 2 has IR illumination/white light 120$ on BDU I don't see the point in paying more to have a visible laser. This laser is 450$ on amazon
Whats most budget friendly IR setup you would recondmend? This seems like a solid unit
Perst 4 best bang for buck, however shipping takes about a month or two
Perst 4 and m600v
Perst-4 is largely out now due to everything with Russia and Ukraine. Unless you can find one already in the US. The OTAL-C was my go-to following the loss of Perst-4 availability. I also heavily considered the Holosun 117 IR which is about half the price of the Steiner ($300 vs $500), but Steiner is made in the USA where Holosun in made in China. Both have great reviews. Other budget options are Virudians HS1 IR laser hand stop at about $150 and Firefields Battletek IR laser /visible laser / illuminator at about $120. Budget models to get you up and running. I run both on different platforms in addition to my Steiner. They work fine.
👍
Do you think this could be side mounted and used on an AK?
I side mount an IR and it works fine you just need to remember the elevation will be your windage and your windage will be your elevation when you zero it.
Can you mount the OTAL on the top rail with a FSB?
Also what is your opinion on Holosun night vision devices?
I have a Holosun IR laser, comparable to the Steiner ITAL except a little bulkier than the Steiner. They're solid and rugged and usually come in at just under half the cost of Steiners. In the IR device world Holosun is to Steiner what Streamlight is to Surefire for flashlights.
The otal (offset tactical aiming lazer) is literally designed for that specific application
Is this the WWSD Rifle?
Looks to be just the KE Arms lower.
F$&@ it, I need a peq15 lol
It's I'm training to shoot "zombies," I really don't care how eye-safe my IR laser is.

Uhm... Sir, you might wanna see a doctor.
I'm no expert but I am fairly sure you arn't supposed to emit light down there.. not in any spectrum...
But seriously, nice video 😁
Go any slower through that shoot house ? Dudes wil a have time to make a sammich and call their buddies to help smoke you. Slow is smooth smooth is fast, but dude I thought you were going backwards in time. Learn to walk with your nods before you shoot with them on.
Also great video on the product, I'm a dick.
What a boring waste of time.
