The KIJI K1-10 and Steiner OTAL-C is a great combo with a TNVC/Unity Tactical TAPS SYNC! KIJI K1 Breakdown by B.E. Meyers Video: • Components & Breakdown...
This is a good option to save some $ or if someone already has an OTAL-C or something else IR pointer only. Otherwise, if starting from the jump, I’d definitely recommend just going with the MAWL for the better form factor and slaved vis green laser
If you want to know, which IR light is invisible, just take a white bucket and fill it with water. Then shine different IR lights in it, while being in a dark room. Observe with a unfiltered camera or image intensifier. You will see the water turn into a dark soup when you have a invisible IR light. For fun, stick your hand in and see it vanish. The effect starts at about 880nm. It depends on the quality of the led though. Some have a rather wide spectrum and still emit in the visible. So that test is better than going just by the numbers that are advertised. The absorption spectrum of the water also applies to the eyeball, which is mostly water.
Awesome content as usual Will. I bought the 3 degree one to go on my precision rig with my CNVD-LR. Very light weight and very powerful. Now I just have to find a place to shoot out to the grand in the dark. :)
Hello. SERIOUSLY AWESOME INFORMATIVE EXCELLENT VIDEO!!! I was just wondering, would this setup be better on a sbr and would I only need those two, for say CQC/CQB /home defense?? Thank you and thank you for your timely response
Thanks so much for your video. Question 1: Do you know if the duel modlite can work and provide a clean output for OTAL and Kijii ? I look at the Unity variant 3 which is laser/light and light. Does this switch have 3 leads or two leads? What I’m trying to accomplish is to have one button turn on the OTAL/Kijii and then a separate button for the modlite flash light. Having all three at one end may make it feel heavier? Don’t know. If possible, could you make a second part extended video to a set up for all three items or if you could recommend what is needed for the set up would be greatly appreciated.
The K1-10 I’d say up 100-200 yards depending on ambient light levels. The K1-3 does 400+. IMO, the K1-3 is the overall better choice on a gun for most folks because it has the diffuser which changes it from a 3 degree divergence to 10 degree.
Awesome video. I have the OTAL-C and the neutral density filter (FA05363) that it came with completely blocks the laser so no light comes out. Any idea what’s up with that?
Another great video. Your comparisons and reviews are the best out there! With this being a laser based illuminator, is there a danger of damaging your tubes or eyes if you were to get splash back from something reflective? I got a 10 to use as a helmet light and after watching the BEM video and their repeated laser safety warnings, I am wondering if it's a good idea to use this as a search/Admin light? I tested it out as a handheld and is a nice light. It was light rain/fog and the K1 - 10° was good out to about 65 yards. The 40° cover would be good as umbrella lighting inside.
Thanks 🙏 The risk of damage is similar to using an LED illuminator. It is the laser pointers that have the most risk. The warning they give applies the same to LED illuminators and is geared more towards safety while handling the device because since you’re not using NV you won’t see it shining into your eyes.
Hello. I was just wondering if you could use this during the day at all and would I be using the Kiji as a flashlight or would I need to put on a Modlite as well?? Thank you and thank you for your timely response
The KIJI is 3v so I’m pretty sure I can take a m600AA body (two AA=3v)and use the kiji head anyway you can confirm that? This way the otal and KIJI use the same battery
Great and beneficial content as always, I was wondering in your experience if you’d recommend a single tube with great specs (ie. L3 formless high specs) vs duals with low specs (ie. Rnvg with average green photonis tubes) if both are roughly the same 5k ishh price. I live in and am Leo in urban/suburban south Florida so there is usually plenty of ambient light around and that would be my primary application
Depends on how low spec the tubes are. For recreational use you can get away with not having the best tubes but if using on the job I recommend getting the best tubes possible because you want every edge possible since your ass is on the line 🙂
Something I should have added - there is a misconception that if you live in the city that you don’t need better tubes. Some of the darkest conditions as a LEO you will encounter inside buildings and the longer you can go without using IR is best because in a pitch black environment a red flowing IR light can give your position away
@@NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION ok thanks, so it sounds like the single tube with cleaner specs/ higher definition/better in lowlight and with shadows would prove to be me beneficial for now with my budget being what it is?
Hi, I was wondering, how do you attach the Kiji to a rail? Mine came with two screw holes, which I imagine will go onto some kind of rail adapter but I am not sure what to buy. Thank you
These are lugs that are used on surefire mounts. Take a look at the arisaka mounts, Haley strategic, etc. An offset or cantilevered mount works best at 10-11 o’clock or 1-2 o’clock depending on your preference
Hello. I hope you will respond to this last message, but if you don’t my apologies for bothering you , but will the Modlite button work with the both Kiji and Steiner OTAL?? Thank you an thank you for your timely response
Love it but if the KiJi is $656.00 and the Otal-C is $549.00 equalling approx $1500.00 what is the benefit over say closely priced DBAL-A3? Just trying to into NV and want to cry just once.
Because the illuminator of the KIJI blows the A3 illuminator out of the water. Check out the Garandthumb video on the MAWL and assume the same illuminator performance with the KIJI.
@@austin107481 I will see it now. Thanks a ton for the lead. As much as I see vids I’m still kinda confused and which route to go lol. With my income I just have one shot at this. 🙏🏻

A3 illuminator is nowhere as good. I’d personally go with the KIJI-3 because of longer range and you can flip on the diffuser for more flood. If you want to buy once cry once get a MAWL. Seriously. It’s a great laser but the crying part is real because of its $$
@@NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION indeed. Thanks. ...One more Q. Once you get over the strangeness of putting two scout lights on your gun, this looks like a really neat setup.
Then you get a Dual lead Modbutton Lite for the OTAL/KIJI and a standard Modbutton Lite for your vis light and you’re good to go 😏
This is a good option to save some $ or if someone already has an OTAL-C or something else IR pointer only.

No. The K1-3 is good to about 800 yards
When you had the footage of the red glow between the Surefire and BE Meyers what was the approximate distance between the camera and units?
Arms length. I didn’t want my face in front of it so I just held the camera out in front
