    Once you get over the strangeness of putting two scout lights on your gun, this looks like a really neat setup.

      Then you get a Dual lead Modbutton Lite for the OTAL/KIJI and a standard Modbutton Lite for your vis light and you’re good to go 😏

      This is a good option to save some $ or if someone already has an OTAL-C or something else IR pointer only.
      Otherwise, if starting from the jump, I’d definitely recommend just going with the MAWL for the better form factor and slaved vis green laser

    If you want to know, which IR light is invisible, just take a white bucket and fill it with water.
    Then shine different IR lights in it, while being in a dark room.
    Observe with a unfiltered camera or image intensifier.
    You will see the water turn into a dark soup when you have a invisible IR light.
    For fun, stick your hand in and see it vanish.
    The effect starts at about 880nm. It depends on the quality of the led though. Some have a rather wide spectrum and still emit in the visible.
    So that test is better than going just by the numbers that are advertised.
    The absorption spectrum of the water also applies to the eyeball, which is mostly water.

    Thanks so much for your video. Question 1: Do you know if the duel modlite can work and provide a clean output for OTAL and Kijii ? I look at the Unity variant 3 which is laser/light and light. Does this switch have 3 leads or two leads? What I’m trying to accomplish is to have one button turn on the OTAL/Kijii and then a separate button for the modlite flash light. Having all three at one end may make it feel heavier? Don’t know. If possible, could you make a second part extended video to a set up for all three items or if you could recommend what is needed for the set up would be greatly appreciated.

      The K1-10 I’d say up 100-200 yards depending on ambient light levels. The K1-3 does 400+. IMO, the K1-3 is the overall better choice on a gun for most folks because it has the diffuser which changes it from a 3 degree divergence to 10 degree.

  • @scott24thlrsd45
    @scott24thlrsd45 Před 2 lety

    Another great video. Your comparisons and reviews are the best out there! With this being a laser based illuminator, is there a danger of damaging your tubes or eyes if you were to get splash back from something reflective? I got a 10 to use as a helmet light and after watching the BEM video and their repeated laser safety warnings, I am wondering if it's a good idea to use this as a search/Admin light? I tested it out as a handheld and is a nice light. It was light rain/fog and the K1 - 10° was good out to about 65 yards. The 40° cover would be good as umbrella lighting inside.

    • @NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION
      @NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION  Před 2 lety

      Thanks 🙏
      The risk of damage is similar to using an LED illuminator. It is the laser pointers that have the most risk. The warning they give applies the same to LED illuminators and is geared more towards safety while handling the device because since you’re not using NV you won’t see it shining into your eyes.

    Great and beneficial content as always, I was wondering in your experience if you’d recommend a single tube with great specs (ie. L3 formless high specs) vs duals with low specs (ie. Rnvg with average green photonis tubes) if both are roughly the same 5k ishh price. I live in and am Leo in urban/suburban south Florida so there is usually plenty of ambient light around and that would be my primary application

    • @NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION
      @NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION  Před 2 lety

      Depends on how low spec the tubes are. For recreational use you can get away with not having the best tubes but if using on the job I recommend getting the best tubes possible because you want every edge possible since your ass is on the line 🙂

    • @NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION

      Something I should have added - there is a misconception that if you live in the city that you don’t need better tubes. Some of the darkest conditions as a LEO you will encounter inside buildings and the longer you can go without using IR is best because in a pitch black environment a red flowing IR light can give your position away
