I have a fix for the qd lever that I used for my LE 117.
I used a very small nut and bolt that I cut to length. I put it through the hole behind the little latch. That thing is now rock solid. Basically the bolt locks the little grabby nub in place. Not qd anymore anymore, but qd is a meme anyway.

I have the LS 321 on a BCM 14.5 and it's been mounted to the rifle for at least 1200 rounds now and it's stayed put. One thing I will say though is I know that Holosun is not known for their mount quality so when I first got it I disassembled the mount and flipped it around, then reassembled it with blue loctite. I also tightened the QD mount itself (quite a bit). I just run a converging zero at 50 yards, got done shooting yesterday and confirmed my zero at 50. Hope this helps anyone who's having any troubles.🤙

  • @Skidjit
    @Skidjit Před 7 měsíci +16

The LS321 has the same mount style, just on the right side vice the left. While mine hasn't backed out (yet), I also place my SF Scout M600 right up against it to protect the wire and help keep the mount locked in place. Not an ideal solution, and still needs long term testing but it's what I have observed.

You can swap the mount on the ls32q so the lever is pointed towards the front of the laser. This should prevent the recoil movement issue.

I have 2 different LAM's. One and the first I got is the Streamlight VIR2. More or less the pistol light. Love it. The other is a cheap Chinese rechargeable Votatu or something like that. The Votatu doesn't have IR light but, does have slaved Vis and IR. Holds zero. The Streamlight has 2 modes Vis White light in IR mode it is IR light and laser. Like the Streamlight best. Still testing the other. So far so good. Most nights the IR laser is all you need.

I have the HE117IR, haven't had a problem with the lever popping loose. I'm going to have to get that Unity switch, because the Surefire dual lead is difficult to actuate with one thumb. I found that the 3v vampire and the ir laser are easily good for 200m.

Currently I have two of these. Thus far I have not had the unit come loose. With that said, I have shot with one of them quite a bit more than the other. The one that I have used the most, has held zero for more than a year. Granted, I only have perhaps 2K rounds with that setup. The other setup only about 100 rounds as I recently purchased it. Despite the lasers being next to each other horizontally, the math is easier. I am not sure why having the laser over the bore is not an industry standard. Even canting the gun still has a higher margin of error while using other standard lasers. Have you canted it sufficiently? You can't get around the fact that the barrel has a slight upward angle while perpendicular to the ground. When we do cant the gun the barrel is now slightly canted up and to one side or the other depending on which side the laser is being emitted from. The day that lasers are completely over the bore will truly increase the max effective range of these devices for people who aren't spending all day everyday getting dope on their laser.

I think it might be the usual holosun hit and miss as far as QC is concerned with the mount, I run both Le117 and Le221 for very hard use and they don't budge, well over 50k on the Le117 without losing zero. Your mileage may vary but the same can be said for most lasers both mil and civ.

Glad that I watched your video on the Hollow Son [ sic ]( applies in my sarcastic naming) IR/VIS laser. I was really hoping it would fare so much better... my Grandson will be disappointed. Two questions if I might...
    1) Will the supplied throw lever unscrew from the mount, and is it removable, to allow a bolt and nut to remedy this affliction?
    2) ( off subject... whose trigger do you use in that ( Griffin Armament 11.5" ) particular rifle?
I could not place it... and you being a content creator I follow... it might be a something to try out... after a match practice torture test. Do you mind giving me the particulars ( your opinion ) on features, quality, feel, etcetera? Not that it's in the spectrum of this video... so I understand if you do not want to get into that. Thank you young man!
    Respectfully, Seth

I figured you were gonna go in the direction of not needing full power lasers....until youve done work in some pretty urban areas under nods. High power has so many reasons why it exists. In very urban areas where ive still needed to use nods to reduce my signature, low settings just werent cutting it. past about 100 meters, i had to really look for my laser. So...i switched it to high power and i was able to see it again. Thats one of the many other reasons why you would want something full power. Yes, even as a civilian.

The mount design looks identical to the one they use on their magnifiers as well as the Aimpoint style QD mounts. I have several of those (not this laser though, they are illegal for civilians here in Germany -.-) and I've never had any issues with them coming off on their own. Including on .308 guns, let alone ARs. So I suspect that this particular mount is defective. Maybe the spring for the lever release button is too weak or damaged. Maybe get in touch with Holosun? They are usually pretty good when it comes to customer support.

The (E) elite version is stylish and pretty, but you pay for it. The (S) standard version will save you nearly $200! The naming issue is what happens when you let an engineer name a product. If you don't know, true engineers have a disability in naming things. So expect names like 1234, S for standard with a number, and the use of M for mark or model. A great example is the RAL powder coat numbers!

Maybe zip tie the fuck out of the qd lever into a rail slot on the opposite side of the rail. I hope you understand what I’m trying to say, like stick a zip tie through the hole in the qd while putting tension towards the closed position and then anchor the zip tie around the closest rail opening on the opposite side
Would that work to some extent??

If you're not going to be switching from rifle to rifle a lot(and really, even if you are) that would be a pretty easy fix. Granted, you shouldn't need to do that at all, but it seems you do.
