  • I'm going to make videos about the range of customer emails I get because I think there are really a lot of people watching that have similar questions. Sometimes these will be more gear and machine focused, other times more business focused. Today's is more business focused with a customer asking me what the right steps and requirements are for becoming a tractor attachment dealer.
Good Works Tractors is happy to be sponsored by Rim Guard Solutions! This is perhaps the most well-known ballast brand on the market today. Rim Guard goes right inside your tires, so it's out of the way, it doesn't freeze, and doesn't corrode. It's made from natural materials, so it's safe around livestock and pets if it spills out. Rim Guard liquid ballast adds more weight to the back side of your tractor improving stability, loader performance, and power to the ground. Find your closest dealer at bit.ly/3d0whX0

If the guy's already buying, fixing and selling, he has the start of a business. There is a never-ending supply of used gear that can be upgraded. Get better with your purchasing, focus on specific implements and quality. Grow this as you can.

When I started in the cabinet business I went outside my area to get advice so people did not see me as a threat to their livelihood

I’d probably start with the manufacturers who are looking for dealers and ask them what they learned from the their dealers. Then go to dealers and work that information into a conversation(without showing your hand) while ‘trying to figure out’ what equipment you need as a homeowner.

I thought for sure we were going to get the old answer to the question
"What's the best way to make a million dollars?"
And of course the answer is
"First you start with 10 million, then invest it."
And that kids is the best way to make a million dollars ....

got a good question for you being your a big fan of loaded tires. If you have a problem and have to remove then re install a loaded tire ( assembly tire and rim ) is their an easy way when you don't have the tools or equipment to unload the wheel first? is there a special tool for this job?

You want a wheel dolly jack. Harbor Freight has a 1300lb unit for $130 (#64601). Vevor sells a 1500lb one for $112. Biggest thing to check is to make sure it has enough depth to fully support the tire. The thing about wheel dollies is that you need a concrete type of surface because of the fairly small wheels. They'll work on asphalt but not gravel or dirt. You can also jack up the tractor so the tire will slide off the lugs and then roll the tire somewhere. But what you really don't want to do is tip the tire over on it's side. They're a complete b***h to pick up.

I’ve used engine hoists. Not the best way, but it works. Best way is with another piece of heavy equipment :)
