Greetings from eastern Ontario. I totally agree with everything you mentioned in your video. In any business to be successful you must stay flexible. You are spot-on with your take on tractor attachments. I've had my L4060 for four years now. Since purchasing the tractor new I have added : a root grapple, pallet forks, carry-all, quick hitch, ballast box and adaptors that allow me to put the pallet forks on the 3 point hitch (higher lifting capacity) and the carry-all on the front end loader. Cheers.

Yours are some of the best videos out there, and I do appreciate them very much. Retired in 2017, built our retirement home on the side of a small "mountain", and finally purchased a JD 3025E in 2021. Purchased with a FE loader, box blade, frontier grapple (had the third function hydraulics installed as part of the sale). Added a ballast box, grab hooks, tooth bar, grille guard, magnetic mirrors. I am considering your smaller stump bucket as a future purchase. Thanks for the excellent content and quality.

Every business goes through evolution periods, especially through trying times. Keep up the excellent content and work. To answer your question, I have a JD 4052M with a standard bucket, JUFabworks add-on with GWT disconnects, thank you, with a bolt on tooth bar on it as well. For the JD front end, I also picked up a 72 inch root grapple, pallet forks, and a hay spike. Next I also added the JD 485a backhoe, with a 16 inch bucket, 20 inch bucket, with a mechanical thumb. For the 3 point, I got a top and tilt kit, 7 ft box blade, 8 ft rear blade, a sub soiler, and lastly a 7 ft reverse tine tiller. Here in three yrs I will probably break down and get a 2 bottom plow, a 7 ft disk, and a planter as well. Courtney, again thank you for all the content that you have put out and look forward to all of your upcoming content as well. Respectfully your neighbor from Indiana.

As I watched the video and thought about the number of attachments and added them up, I surprised myself how many I had, here is the list - Box Scraper, Brush Hog, 3 point digger, 3 point Tiller, Tree shear, Stump grinder, Hydraulic Power Pack, Limb shear, 3 point string trimmer, 3 point cultipacker, Flat bed wagon, Ballast Carrier, Quick hitch, 3 point lawn aerator, 3 point post hole digger, Snow plow, 2 FEL buckets, 3 point carry all, 3 point tree transplanter - Granted some of these I fabricated up myself but you are correct huge market for attachments - Thanks for the videos

Attachments - quick connect - bucket - forks that attach to bucket - box cutter - snow shovel - front hay fork - mirrors - shade cover - Cruze control - cutter - bush hog - hay rake - power charger (ciggeret lighter)- suicide knob (spinning wheel for steering wheel).. things I would have bought greese gun that keeps it simple. Trickle charger for battery. Tool container that can be easily placed and removed on tractor. (Today I stick it in bucket) nice if could of used hydraulics on back to pick container -tool box - two move to work location. - tanker bar (pribar) use tractor as generator for electric equipment. Hitch extender to pull different tailors. Spot lights that rotate. Small attachements for E3025. for E3025 like bailer , hay cutter, hay fork, post hole digger,

Adaptability is the key in business --- and in tractors. You're on the right track. I have a 4052M and there are 6 attachments. Need two more: ballast rack and a grapple. One current attachment needs upgrading or replacement with a different tool. One other thing: In today's market, taking care of your machines and the attachments is incredibly important.

Hi Courtney, to answer your question on how many attachments I have. I have 4.
To go on with a little more info in this video you talk about.
I happened to buy my Ford 1520 4x4 gear drive at the beginning of the pandemic on March 14, for $9,250 . This was before I ever seen any of your videos for suggestions. I bought it with the backhoe on it for that price. The front bucket is a sturdy beefy one like you talked before in a video. I did use the GWT discount club to get the Bolt Grab hooks and receiver. Best add on ever for a bucket. Not an attachment I know, but great! My second attachment besides the backhoe being the first already on there. I bought a post hole digger. Because I put up a fence. Plans l8tr for more digging holes for things. Third was a boom pole. I use for lifting (Ford) engines. My 4 th attachment (I am calling it a attachment) was the Speeco quick attach from you. (GWT) It attached to my 3 point and made things easier. Love it.
Now I do want many more for obvious reasons like you SHOw to make my tractor even more useful. But also need to hold off a little for reason you talk in this video.
Hang in there, I know you will. And we'll all figure it out.

Hi Courtney. Good video. I purchased my 2004/5 JD 4110 about 10 years ago. Glad I did. Been adding attachments ever since then. In addition to the 410 FEL and 46 backhoe that came with it, I have a quick hitch, bush hog, tiller, forks, land rake, your stump bucket (which is great) and a box blade that I purchased last year and took 6 months to receive. If you do consignments on used tractors and attachments maybe a video on how that works might be helpful. I haven't really used the backhoe much and am thinking of selling it to make more room (for more attachments, of course). Keep the videos coming!

Hi Courtney! I got the loader, standard bucket, grapple, box blade, and light/medium duty 6' brush cutter/shredder when I purchased in 2018. Not a package deal like some dealers tout...I wanted upgraded attachments, not entry level light. Then I added a Tool Caddy, a Rhino Hide canopy, and Pat's Easy Change 3 point hooks...awesome purchase, by the way. I have since added a landscape rake, and a smaller, non OEM backhoe.
I plan to check into a land plane grader, as we have a 1/2 mile driveway/road into the property.

Faith is wonderful but it don't pay the bills . If your mechanically inclined or willing to learn I've had luck buying attachments that are in rougher shape and fixing them up. Did it with a John Deere 5ft bush hog, paid $250 used it for one summer and over the winter put all new clutches and went through the gear box. It's a 127 or 121 garlin or something like that from the 1950s and Deere dealer still had parts for it. So for about $500 and some time got a great working bush hog.

Future attachments may include forks, a better grapple and? Just bought my tractor new this fall a Kubota B2601. I have looked for used attachments but most are asking a high price for used stuff nothing I’ve seen that makes me want to jump… Good luck! And keep making videos I watch them all!

The price of the attachments has increased by at least $3,000 in last year and the price of the BX has just increased close too $3,000 since I purchased one a month ago. CRAZY!!!

That was a great and logical explanation of your business model and how things are going. Designing and making your own attachments is a great path for you to pursue. BTW, I would be interested in one of your stump buckets to use more for trenching, but my john deere quick attach system for my bucket isn’t made any more. Can’t find attachments for it. It’s the old spring pin system. Would be easy to make if you would want to. LMK. HLA made a root/rock bucket for it before.

Courtney. I recently purchased a new Kubota BX2380 I've got 6/7 implements(quick hitch an implement?); a LandPride Box Scrapper, WB10 ballast box and tiller, and a Kubota Front loader, Backup snowblower, drive-over mower and quick hitch, I also had the Kubota accessory lights facing backwards installed. I'm lucky and got them in the monthly payments.
I wish I knew more then as I would have tried to find a way for a snow pusher and also a light bar facing forward included and possibly a grader blade that angles as the box scrapper isn't perfect for road maintenance.
Some things I want I struggle to find affordably or with quality. 1. Mirrors that have nice brackets for the loader specific to BX, not drilling, no weld/glue or magnets. 2. Brackets for the ROPS that are nice quality and affordable. Be it to mount lights, toolboxes, shovels, brush cutters etc. Some I've seen cost more than half the expensive Husqvarna brush cutter, brackets shouldn't be that much. 3.Printable instructions and corresponding videos for add-ons and typical modifications for different common models like BX series. I want to mount a lightbar, but its hard to find the service manuals and what wires to use. Forums are ok, but so many contradict each other. 4. Cheap removable cab. Again, it seems to always land in the 2000$ mark and feels more like a 400-500$ thing, just looking for some wind and snow protection in the winter, nothing perfect and then remove come summer. 5. Then accessories like seat covers, seat heaters, fans to put on ROBS in summer, that I know will fit and not random generic stuff that doesn't state what it fits on for tractors. They don't seem to exist for sub compact tractors, maybe JDs, but that's its.

Interesting news Courtney! Guess I better get that land plane order in? So, to answer the question, Front end: bucket and forks, 3 Point: iMatch QH, 2 blades, rake, ballast box, stump grinder, chipper for my 4052m, that I traded my 3 yo 3038e in on just in the nick of time when I went from 5 acres to 52, again just in the nick of time as the pandemic was coming up to speed! Granted the world has gone crazy with this current challenge, but a new norm will come of it in due time - keep the faith.

My next big purchase will likely be a mini excavator in the 10,000-12,000 pound range. It seems more and more people are getting mini excavators for work clearing and maintaining trees, so attachments for those (start with thumb kits) could be another product line for you.

You are 100% correct in your evaluation of the market. Even if JD hadn't had that monumental strike, our supply chains simply weren't built for the type of demands being placed on them and while they have broken completely there are plenty of cracks and gaping holes. What used to take my company 1 month to get across the water from China now takes 4-6 months and the cost of freight went from $5K to $20K. I hate buyoing from overseas but in many cases that is the only place to get the parts needed. However, with all the price increases, inflation, delays, freight - now is a great time for America to get back into manufacturing.
Have you thought about taking the limited supply of used tractors, and creating a rental business? I think that rentals are going to be highly sought after because people cannot find the tractors they want to buy or their tractor is going to take months to arrive. Sometimes a customer doesn't need to buy a grapple or snow plow, because they have one or more specific projects they want to complete and they may already have a tractor, so renting the attachments is a great way to fill the gap until the customers attachment arrives or simply for one off type projects.
I am in the commercial specialty truck rental business and I can tell you, business has never been better for us. Our equipment utilization has gone from abour 40% to around 70% and peaked last year at 85%. Once you get over about 50% utilization, you are simply printing money...

    @joshuapreusser2265 Před 2 lety +1

After almost five years the purchase of one tractor (w/loader) has lead me to owning 2 buckets (the factory one plus a higher capacity toothed one), a box blade, a quick attach (rarely/never used), a finish mower, a post/tree-puller/stump bucket grapple, a long-bottom brush grapple, a set pallet forks, a moldboard plow, a disc harrow, a spike harrow, a cultivator, a ripper and a carryall.
Also have had an auger on order since early fall (hopefully being delivered in the next couple weeks) and hoping to order a couple more items this year in order to make a few more routine tasks that much quicker/easier.
The way I look at it a tractor is only as useful as the implements/tools it's using, and getting an implement/tool is generally cheaper than an trip to the ER and/or losing days to recovering from injuries and/or heat stroke. So between bush/brush/tree management, lawn/pasture & fence-line maintenance, storm damage cleanup (mostly trees), gardening in high clay content soils, and hot & humid Alabama summers there's always lots of potential for injury/heat stroke especially when that all needs to be done in addition to a full-time job and around bad/uncooperative weather.

I’ve got a Kioti dk40 se hst with loader and 2 sets of remotes. It’s a fully loaded tractor, comes with SSQA, extendable rear links, a rear lever to raise and lower 3 pt. And many many other creature comforts not found on the majority of tractors. The attatchments I have are. Front grapple (favorite), front forks, a heavy duty job that fits on the forks. I rarely use it because of its weight. It extends 12 feet!, made for a telehandler. I’ve got 2 heavy duty box blades, one is a Gannon 6 foot rollover. The other is a Gill, it has retractable scarifiers that roll up or down, it also has a hinged rear blade, it’s a MONSTER! The top and tilt really make it nice to adjust the 3 pt hitch. Ive got a 6 foot brush hog that is also a monster, the steel plate on this thing is ridiculous! I’ve never seen heavier, thicker blades than on this one. I’ve got a cheap king cutter rake, A subsoiler and maybe one or two others that I can’t think of.
On my loader I have the usual reinforced top plate with kooks welded on it, plus I have a hitch receiver welded to the top inside of the bucket. Makes moving trailers, boats, etc a breeze.

Court, We have a couple dozen attachments, it has taken a couple generations to obtain them. We could eventually get a couple quick attaches and weights from you to improve our workflow and safety in the near future. We have one of my Dad's attachments (an IH cordwood saw) that we stopped using because it has a completely open saw blade; one wrong move and it could be fatal! Other than the lack of safety guards, the cordwood saw was easy on the back and so much faster than chain saws for making firewood. I don't know if you ever looked into selling "Balfor" attachments, they have some really nice cordwood saws that have safety engineered to protect the operator. The closest Balfor dealer is in Canada, that might be something worth evaluating adding to your attachment lineup. They have some really useful equipment for guys like us with wood lots.

I believe any company that cannot change is doomed. I recall decades ago an Ag Bus Mgmt teacher said we absolutely needed to look over the business plan created and be willing to change and adapt not only to grow but sometimes just to keep in the black.
I know one company that’s reduced prices on what they fabricate with much longer lead times due to inability to get the metal and the high number of employees who contract COVID. That company requires a ten day sabbatical for the exposed employee. If many corporations are following those CDC guidelines it explains why there’s no production in everything. Believe it or not, their sales are still high. It’s honesty to the customer that plays a huge part IMHO
How you’re thinking about you business is excellent. I wish you well as I’m sure I will want something again. You’ve been a fantastic source for me and I see why other businesses partner with you. Keep spirits high

Speaking from another dealer's chair here. Trade tractors are VERY tuff to deal with as well. Most folks have a certain number in mind they want out of thier trade and mostly all dealers will not give them what they want.
    1) Marketability of the tractor (Trade tractors and equipment can sit on a lot for over a year and that's not good for the dealer or the equipment)
    2) ACTUAL trade value of used equipment vs. what customers want
    3) Dealers profit margin (Customers want a perfect used tractor with garunteed no issues when they get it home...never happens. so dealers need to expect the unexpected and offer lower to cover issues found once it's in the shop or the new customer takes it home. Trades need to make money too, and a selling margin of $3000 with a $1000 unexpected repair before sale happens isnt uncommon. hard to pay employees and keep the shop lights on with those types of numbers )
We've started taking more in on a consignment contract and that's worked much better for all. Although right now both used and new inventory is low.

About the only attachment we do not have that I know we need is a set of forks. A trailer to haul the tractor, or a vehicle, on is going to be a "must" in the next few months. Not sure if a trailer would be considered an "attachment" though. All of the people buying tractors now will likely find they would like to have a trailer to move it to friends and family's places to do projects. Hope to see your much anticipated video on trailers. Attachments. Just got a cab from tektite. Was very fortunate to get it in three months. As far as attachments I have a box scraper. Front end loader bucket. Grapple three point quick attach. Forks two home made bars one for levelling my gravel lot and one for doing a final soft finish on my paved rough lot. Oh and an Hla snow pusher and my old snow pushing blade which actually works better than the Hla. It’s wider 7’ as opposed to the Hla at 6’, lighter and rides the surface instead of cutting. Just put composite on the Hla hoping for a less aggressive pull down and pavement wrecking blade. Got that idea from you guys. And now I’m trying to order a new wood splitter for, Easton made. 14 months projected lead time. 😳. Any way I wish you well. Fortunately my tackle business is going gangbusters for the first time in 9 years. You on the other hand will have it tough with your challenges. I wish you all the best. People need Attachments!!!! You already have built a reputation for being an honest seller.
People are willing to pay a bit extra for that piece of mind.
It would be a shame to give up that goodwill you have developed in the industry, a lot of time went into building that, so don't give it up, just change your risk by doing physical consignment sales, Where you actually take the tractor in in order to make sure you know what your selling.
The seller gives you a bottom number they are willing to take, and if that meets your expectations for a good resale, then take the listing.
