Gomez (Raul Julia) and Morticia (Anjelica Huston) express their love for each other.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Inspired more by the 1960s TV series than by the original Charles Addams New Yorker cartoons, The Addams Family proved to be one of the more successful of the TV shows-turned-movies of the 1990s. The film opens on a recreation of the magazine cartoon wherein the ghoulish Addamses prepare to pour hot oil upon a group of merry Christmas carolers. After a series of vignettes which establish the characters of Gomez (Raul Julia), Morticia (Anjelica Huston), Wednesday (Christina Ricci), Pugsley (Jimmy Workman) and family servants Lurch (Carel Struycken) and Thing (Christopher Hart), the plot proper gets under way. A stranger, played by Christopher Lloyd, shows up on the Addams doorstep, claiming to be long-lost Uncle Fester. It appears, however, that Lloyd is a ringer, in cahoots with attorney Tully Alford (Dan Hedaya) to strip the Addamses of their fortune. In their usual against-the-grain fashion, the Addams Family seems to delight in the possibility that they're being hoodwinked-indeed, not even kidnapping or death threats dampen the Addams clan's joy of living (or should we say dying?). The Addams Family served as the directorial debut of cinematographer Barry Sonnenfeld.

I just love how these two are simply enamored with each other. They are like the ultimate example of a match made in Heaven (kind of ironic compared to the dark and macabre looks they have). Their pairing is one of those kinds of pairings that is romance personified. At every given time they're together, no matter what they're talking about, one or both of them will inevitably end up professing their undying adoration of each other. It's quite beautiful. I hope I find a Morticia of my own who will captivate my heart and inspire me to do anything for her, with the desire being just as mutual on her end.

I always thought that this movie was so romantic! How cool would it be to grow up in a family where your mum and dad love each other *that* much! :)
I never truly knew how much my father loved my mother until I found his 'little black book' in his desk at his work. Inside was every significant date of their relationship, all her sizes, the phone number of the closest florist to every job she had ever had and several poems that he had written about her. Other men had books of old girlfriend's phone numbers, my dad had a listing of all the places my mom wanted to visit and his plans on taking her to those places. Kids are too self centered to realize that their parents were 'real people' long before they were just mom and dad.

That was probably one of the reasons why the show was so popular. Because all of the TV writers in America at the time it was released wish on the way from the bedroom, and these writers decided to embrace the French, and kissing, and undertones.

Let us remember that the Addams are considered a "weird" family. Almost everything they do is opposite of what is considered "normal" in society. Their kids try to kill each other on a daily basis. They consider pain and torture to be delightful. They are more than willing to share their wealth and abode with people who hate them.
Yet, here we have a loving couple who has been romantic since the day they met. It could be said that what is normal for modern couples is to lose their romantic spark and ultimately break-up. However, since the Gomez and Morticia are weird, they are the opposite: they have maintained their faithfulness and romance for one another, and they will probably love each other until the day they die. (assuming they can die).
So next time you feel insecure because people think you are weird, don't feel bad. Weird isn't always bad. And who knows? Maybe one day you will end up with someone as weird as you.
Yes! I got called weird all the time in school and took it as an insult. My mom told me to still be myself because I will find someone who is just like me in their own way and I will find my true friends. She was right. I have been with my husband for 12 years and we have 2 beautiful babies. Gomez and Morticia are our favorite couple in the world. In the words of Deadpool, "your crazy matches my crazy." Well, we're all crazy, but there are different levels of crazy/weird. You just have to find someone whose level matches yours own. It's a wonderful bliss indeed.

Morticia is french and Gomez is latino but I believe theY both speak each others language (I.e Gomez speaks french and Morticia speaks spanish)
