    CLIP DESCRIPTION:
    Gomez (Raul Julia) and the fake Uncle Fester (Christopher Lloyd) dance the "Dance of Brotherly Love."
    FILM DESCRIPTION:
    Inspired more by the 1960s TV series than by the original Charles Addams New Yorker cartoons, The Addams Family proved to be one of the more successful of the TV shows-turned-movies of the 1990s. The film opens on a recreation of the magazine cartoon wherein the ghoulish Addamses prepare to pour hot oil upon a group of merry Christmas carolers. After a series of vignettes which establish the characters of Gomez (Raul Julia), Morticia (Anjelica Huston), Wednesday (Christina Ricci), Pugsley (Jimmy Workman) and family servants Lurch (Carel Struycken) and Thing (Christopher Hart), the plot proper gets under way. A stranger, played by Christopher Lloyd, shows up on the Addams doorstep, claiming to be long-lost Uncle Fester. It appears, however, that Lloyd is a ringer, in cahoots with attorney Tully Alford (Dan Hedaya) to strip the Addamses of their fortune. In their usual against-the-grain fashion, the Addams Family seems to delight in the possibility that they're being hoodwinked-indeed, not even kidnapping or death threats dampen the Addams clan's joy of living (or should we say dying?). The Addams Family served as the directorial debut of cinematographer Barry Sonnenfeld.

    one thing i LOVE about this scene, is that it shows to 'everyone' that he really 'is' Fester.
    His memory isn't there but his 'body' remembers everything, it remembers the motions, the actions that come from the dance, only an Addams can know the dance as Gomez says, its an 'Addams Family Tradition'. You can also see its really him in how everyone react, all the Addams don't notice anything is wrong, to them they know the dance and Fester is doing it perfectly. The one 'normal' girl in there you see looking in shock and horror that anyone would willingly let someone chuck knives at them, and then pull a hidden knife out and throw it at them to catch into their mouth (when for anyone else thats a death sentence practically) But everyone just acts 'normal'~!
    Because only an Addams can know how to perform that dance, so because he's doing it precisely, without 'any' foreknowledge, is 'proof' that he's Fester and not an imposter (even if he thinks he's an imposter)

    • @carlossilva8087
      @carlossilva8087 Před rokem +13

      True, the way they told the story was very well done because it wasn’t someone entering in the room and say he is Fester Adams. They were able to SHOW he is Fester Adams with this 2 mins song. And thats the most important thing in movies. Is to show, not to say. I remember when I watched at tbe first time that during the all movie I really believed he was an imposter and after the party I was like: “wait, may be this guy is Fester”. And I was like a 11 years old kid.

She even tried to hide it under some loose linoleum in her kitchen floor once. Until my dad and uncle went to re-do the floor one day and they found the tape.
