- In Tim Burton's BEETLEJUICE, the only way Betelgeuse (Michael Keaton) can run free in the living world is by marrying Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder). While Delia (Catherine O'Hara), Adam (Alec Baldwin) and Barbara (Geena Davis) are trying to stop him, Beetlejuice is throwing nothing but strikes. Watch the classic scene from Beetlejuice (1988).
Directed by Tim Burton

The way he steps away from the altar to 'reconsider' marriage cracks me up every time. 😂
Or his ex wife's ring finger in his pocket. 😛
@@thetaytheist Oh how perfectly time that new trailer is lmao
Tim Burton's films are unforgettable...
They're the goat
They're the goat
And Legendary.
No. They USED to be unforgettable. I’d say since 2005, he hasn’t made anything that isn’t a forgettable flop.
And I’m kinda sad bc I have a real big feeling this Beetlejuice sequel isn’t going to be that great. It’s already gonna be super hard to live up to the original and he just hasn’t been up to snuff in almost 2 decades..
@@bradenharris8718 for sure. his last good live action movie was mars attacks imo.
Michael Keaton is the only actor perfect for this movie!! No one else could have played Beetlejuice better!!! This role was meant for him!!! He was amazing

@@Dweirdalien Nah. Michael Keaton is the best Beetlejuice.
He was perfect for Batman too
@@brunocarrillo410 and BeetleJuice is only in the movie for 17 minutes of screen time. Keaton created a comedy legend in this. And Tim Burton caught "Lightning In A Bottle"!
“They’ve had enough ‘exorcise’ for tonight”… after 32 years I just got that 🤦♂️😭
I dont get it 😭 can u explain
@@m4gg0t. he said “exorcise” in like removing spirits from something or some one, so it’s a pun on the word exercise
I just got it reading your post.
To be fair, the movie doesn't make it clear that Otho was inadvertently performing an exorcism even though it does set that up with the "exorcism room" reference earlier.
Yeah, though he coulda turned them to dust if Beetlejuice didn’t save them and if Lydia didn’t make a deal with him.
"That is why I won't do two shows a night anymore, babe, I won't, I won't do 'em."
Epic line!!
5:13 Makes me laugh. The way Barbara just walks up and says Beetle Juice like a disappointed parent and Beetlejuice just screeches like a child that just got caught doing something that they are not supposed to do.
😂😂😂😂😂 The scream was amazing hahahahaa
And then the Mouth Zipper!
Not quite the Teradactyl Screech that WafflePwn made when McJuggernuggets met him, but Beetlejuice did it first.
I only heard beatljuice 2 timea
Lol that part always cracks me up 😂
Beetlejuice is the ultimate troll. It's why I love him😂.
"Mom? Dad?" Lol
lmfao 😂
While he was a bit of a loose cannon, I never felt that Beetlejuice was really an antagonist. I mean, he DID save the Maitland's. I felt bad for him at the end.
Yeah he felt more like a plot device to move the story forward when other characters needed his while and abilities to help them.
Then beetlejuice could had rule the world.
Hes not really evil but he's also the villian by default just because he's the one causing problems. However no he's not evil just more wild and crazy which makes him dangerous.
More like a perverted antihero, he did what he promised with very questionable methods and then he tried to force a minor to marry him
Roll on the next belated film! ❤️
4:16 my best friend did that at his wedding. I was the only one that got the reference 😅😂
I hope she divorced him immediately
What a legend!
@@EughhBrothereughh wtf
Adam losing his jaw from trying to say "Beetlejuice" gets me every time 😂😂😂😂

Me too, saw this movie on Spectravison back in 1989 with my dad and sister in a Boston hotel and daddy didn't want to watch it because he thought was a kid's film, but eventually he caved in and loved it so much that he was quoting lines from it for weeks to come. RIP daddy we miss you.
Beetlejuice trying step Adam mouth little tap dancing
I don’t care if the set design was supposed to be absurd, I’ve always loved it. I want a postmodern creepy 80s house like that
dude this movie is a lot more interesting to watch than all those remakes and full cgi movies today, this is fun with colours and so campy, full creativity and I'm obsessed
I think it's closer to German expressionism than postmodernism though.
I love how the little demon officiate or whatever he is just stands there while all the chaos goes on chilling and then after it’s all done, he just stands there with them lmaooo
Geena Davis in a wedding dress is such a cool visual. The movie is so effortlessly comedic.
Someone once said on Jimmy Kimmel, “Geena Davis is a real man’s man”
P
I do love the way she looks in that dress!
She great no what movie she's in
She is an absolute goddess in this film.
Michael Keaton absolutely stole this film. 🌟

@@LuisAlvarez-mr5wm Same dude! Fond memories I keep to this day!
One of the things that always cracked me up about this scene is the Beetlejuice is in this huge hurry to get done with the wedding, but when the undead priest dude asks if he takes Lydia to be his wife, he runs a couple feet away and has a little talk with himself about whether he actually wants to do it. I like to think of this as one of his flaws. He's got immense power, but his two great weaknesses are the name being said three times and his inability to be serious for any great length of time.
Well said😊
Commitment seems to be a big problem.
I like how protective Lydia's parents were. They were pretty self involved but they weren't really bad.
And she got Barbara and Adam as second parents
Her Mom was dead.
Man did I have a thing for Winona Ryder & her gothic look back in the day.
I think we all did back in the day
Yes indeed
and I think BeetleJuice did too 😂 I love Lydia’s style tho 😊
Played a ginger after that
After he says "It's Showtime" I literally have the exact same feeling I get when my favorite artist opens at a concert.
Beetlejuice did keep his part of the bargin.
1:35 I love how instead of screaming they just look up like where did they go or what just happened 😂😂😂😂
I love this scene so much, that it gives me goosebumps, in an exciting way. Why did Beetlejuice get rid of the Deans and Otho instead of the Deetzes?
I mean they went through the ceiling, where do you think they ended up??
Me too
I'm so glad that in Beetlejuice 2, Michael Keaton is going to reprise his role. He was born to play Batman AND Beetlejuice.
Let's hope his role isn't ruin like how the Flash did.

My favorite line. It's so hilarious.
The way she said it too! I love them both! And Alec and Winona
@@Tommyboy6426 Same here. I don't like Alec because of the gun thing he did.
@@jacobmaverickbueller.671 Just to let you know, he isn’t responsible. When there’s smoke there’s fire, this armorer had accidents on the first film she ever worked on, she was fired. Alec had no accidents throughout his 40 year career until he came across this bad armorer. The armorer is responsible for weapons, not the actor.
Me too.
😂🤣😂🤣
This just shows how powerful Beetlejuice is
Michael Keaton is absolutely brilliant as Beetlejuice
It’s Danny Elfman’s score that does it for me. He is in my opinion one of the most iconic composers of recent years. Right up there with John Williams and Michael Giacchino for me
I got Elfman burnout pretty quickly.
Hans Zimmer and James Horner too
This was truly a fun movie, like a ride at the amusement park
You mean like at… Universal Studios? Ha-ha-ha! Ka-ching! 😉
Great comparison.
5:17
When mom calls you by your full name
Beetlejuice is my role model. Never accept limits just because you're dead. Always keep your promises, especially when it affects the outcome of your long term existence.
I'm just going to say it, Homie held up his part of the deal. He has legal recourse.
I feel like a lot of people don't realize that. Yeah, he shouldn't have done that to a minor, but he told her what he wanted and she agreed to it. I've noticed he'll stretch the truth, but I don't think he outright lied in the movie.
@@strawberrysoulforever8336 Well said my friend!
@@strawberrysoulforever8336 I think he WANTED Lydia and she went along with BeetleJuice ONLY to save Adam and Barbara if it we’re ANY other time she would have said no I’m sure lol when they we’re in trouble THAT’S when he took his chance he probably thought I could be in the real world and have Lydia too! if he became her husband and she his wife like….what would’ve HAPPENED with them? 😮
@@SexySkoChick This is probably naive, but I loved the animated show as a kid and I kinda want to believe that their relationship might have played out the same way. Maybe once he wasn't dead anymore, he could chill out and tone down the antics and hell, Lydia isn't your average girl either, maybe in time she'd find herself saying "Eh, I could've done worse. At least he's not one of those boring boys at school." or something.
@@kyleroberts3814 that’s not naive to me that is a COOL opinion! 😊 I like the animated series too I also ship Lydia and BeetleJuice
the part where adam tries to say beetlejuice and his jaw falls off is kinda funny but also weirdly wholesome. first of all, he’s literally being exorcised and his body is decaying. yet he still tries to save lydia. and second of all, the way barbara grabs his jaw and tries to put it back is adorable in a super sad way. like obviously it’s hopeless but her first instinct was to fix him. this is kind of dark but it reminds me of how jfk’s wife was reaching out the back of the car when he was assassinated to grab brain matter (this is just a theory)
ANNNNND straight from the left field to JFK brain matter being picked by his wife, no one saw it this ending like that but here it is tonight!

That 'sure' in the beginning is pure gold.
🤣 I just loved how he terrorized Otho enough with 2 takes to send him screaming.
Why we don't see movie's like this anymore these days? Tim Burton's fun - adventure films were the greatest of all time ❤
I feel like a lot of the cartoony nature of Beetlejuice's movements will be lost on kids that didn't grow up watching '70s and '80s cartoons.
Yh like The mask
They absolutely do NOT make movies like this anymore. This entire final scene is just amazing.
Not so fast roundboy we're gonna have some laughs.. mmmwah 🤣🤘

The whole movie was excellent from beginning to the end. Everyone should have gotten awards for this ☺️☺️
It won for Best Makeup
I love how campy this film feels. It’s such a fun movie. CGI takes a lot of the magic away. When you can see that things are carefully hand made with love it really makes it a big treasure.
All he loved is her I mean she is so sweet and cute and pretty he deserves more than that 😢😢
I got THAT impression as well BeetleJuice was attracted to Lydia
Betelgeuse is so likable that fans will do anything to deny that he is the villain of this story. 😂
I hope to high heaven that he is the villain of the sequel as wells
Beetlejuice 2 has been announced for release in theaters for 2024!
I think the moment when the creepy violin plays and he brushes himself off before the last beetlejuice is perfect. Like this is my moment and Im going to kill it.

Another one of my favorite Halloween movies.
Still do this day, one of my favourite movies of all time
Same. And I saw it when it came out.
against all the odds, one of the best movies ever made in the history of cinema! Michael Keaton's acting was just on another level from beginning to end.
It’s strange that after seeing firsthand how Michael Keaton could play this bizarre character, he was chosen to play Bruce Wayne instead of The Joker in Tim Burton’s next movie Batman. Maybe Burton didn’t want him to become typecast.
Oh look, he even brought his little Batman wings along! 😍
This movie was on TV literally my entire childhood, I kinda think it’s my most watched movie
Beetlejuice is one of my favorite Halloween Movie in the whole world.
Basically what batman looked like if he become the joker
So the Batman who laughs.
When he get nuts he really GET nuts.

Beetlejuice imitates Lydia at 4:37
Am I the only one that thought Beetlejuice was jipped? I mean Lydia asked him to save the mainlands and even they solicited him for assistance. He always kept up his end of the bargain but they never did.
😂Michael Keaton is the best of what he do in the movie. Making fun and scaring the living.

Turning Otho's clothes into a Pee Wee Herman outfit was a nice touch by Tim Burton.
I'm telling ya honey ahe meant nothing to me! Lol
Excited for the sequel for Keaton returning to the iconic role and Tim Burton returning to this awesome universe!
If you think about it, the real antagonists in the film were the Deetz's . Beetlejuice upheld his end of the bargain while Lydia tried to back out only after the deed was done.
So who's the bad guy here?
Bettlejuice is still the bad guy lol, he tried to marry an underage girl
Lydia was forced into making the deal. If she didn’t the Maitlands would have suffered a fate worse than death. Not only that but, Lydia is also a minor and couldn’t give consent anyways
Still Bettlejuice, he manipulated Lydia and almost killed her family... She never agreed to that
I say it’s Charles and Delia. Ever since the death of Lydia’s mother, they pretend their daughter doesn’t even exist! They’re the cause of most of the movie’s conflict.
@@PopStarLegend4365 I can get behind that angle too!
Such creativity, and amazing use of stop-motion.
