When you owned this motor did you ever have trouble when there was no power it would not move.. Like it wasn't in gear can't get my motor to go to neautral when i am going yo start it and can't manually put it in neautral..
just a observation-the starter is going bad or u have a weak battery or u have bad battery cables-ive had all three cause the same slow cranking =u need a certain rpm to get fire w a cdi ignition-one commentor said he heard if put in water pump impellar backwards it would correct itself-it might correct but it will bee ruined-driveshaft turns clockwise-turn it clockwise as u install impellar and ck for right direction lookin thru hole in water pump housing before resinstall-
If you're Evinrude or Johnson Outboard does not have the telltale , It's probably an Earlier model. If you're Outboard is 77 or newer the telltale is usually located on the Starboard side, Right rear corner of the outboard just below the cowl, Motor cover latch. There are some videos on here showing Evinrude and Johnson Outboards running with the telltale. You are welcome to look at my videos showing the telltales location and it working
@@meanhog1 : If you're Outboard is an earlier model , It will have two small holes Exhaust ports and I have seen the Earlier models pump water out of them. Its possible that you're outboard telltales could be plugged
@@johnelsonjr.6008 thank you, I just replaced the impeller but also might of put it in upsidedown...🤦♂️ but also heard it corrects it self once engaged...🤞 anyways..after the install I wasnt getting water out those two holes or in the black rad pipes going to the heads...I'm gona run the hose through them and try to clear them out like you said .
That manual primer valve switch is not fully closed, could cause an issue...That blue battery cable looks too small which is probably why the engine doesn't crank properly...
@@61sixone OK, well I'm guessing it sneezes/coughs/stalls, correct? The place to start with with carburetor/ignition sycronization...Do this before ripping the carbs apart needlessly
What did you touch to get it to start?

Where is the water outlet the "telltale" cant find it on mine ...same motor
Probably doesn't have it you have to install one. Not hard at all just did it on my 140hp 1977 johnson.
I have a 1990 Evinrude XP150 & mine is on the very bottom of the powerhead housing "tray" and shoots just about straight down...

When it’s closed how does the carb get the gas??
@@61sixone The gas does not have to go through the primer to get to the carb.
@@fleetwin1 when I close mine it cuts off. Any help with that

I have a 1978 115 Johnson seahorse I cans find the dipstick location
There is no dipstick. It is a 2 stroke engine. The oil goes in the fuel
Lol
