Nicholas Currie (born 11 February 1960 in Paisley, Scotland), more popularly known under the artist name Momus (after the Greek god of mockery), is a songwriter, blogger and former journalist for Wired. Many of his songs are literary and could be classified as postmodern.[citation needed]
For nearly thirty years he has been releasing, to marginal commercial and critical success, albums on labels in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Japan. In his lyrics and his other writing he makes seemingly random use of decontextualized pieces of continental (mostly French) philosophy, and has built up a personal world he says is "dominated by values like diversity, orientalism, and a respect for otherness." He is fascinated by identity, Japan, Rome, the avant-garde, time travel and sex.

I used to love Momus so much. Saw him live in London in the late 90’s. Have about 15 albums of his. Can’t believe I’ve never seen a music video of his!
This is the song, more than many others, that got me through my seven year old son's bone marrow transplant in 2021. Q: Why me? A: Why not you?

@@YodaFZ muito obrigado por partilhar connosco a importante informação de que acha fatela, a denominção de que tanto eu como o próprio Nick Curry gostamos tanto e achamos apropriada para o qualificar o trabalho dele. Esses desencontros de gostos ainda acontecem mais, quando não se conhecem bem as pessoas. Eu também só sei disto por ser amigo pessoal de Nick Currie (Momus) e ter organizado duas digressões dele em Portugal e um concerto em Glasgow.
Já agora, Cantautore existe em Italiano donde, "cantautor" não é um aportuguesamento de "singer-songwriter". Talvez seja mais singer-songwriter a ser um "inglesamento" de Cantautor/e.
Citando o próprio Nick Currie: "I very much like that Italian word “cantautore” which means singing author." - duvida? Leia no link que coloco no comentário abaixo.
Enfim... Uma vez mais obrigado por partilhar que temos definições diferentes, não só de cantautore... Como de fatela.

E não é por "MOMUS" gostar de "cantautore" que eu deva ter opinião diferente da que já expressei (nem sei para quê, se quer que seja sincero; apeteceu-me...). Caro Zé, nem a mim me passou pela cabeça colocar em causa a sua total liberdade de expressar o que sente sobre o que bem entender. Nunca escrevi uma palavra nesse sentido. Também concordo 100% que não é preciso gostar das mesmas coisas que alguém de quem apreciamos o trabalho.
@Lucca Sá O Nick é muito acessível! Em 2003 quando soube que vinha tocar em Portugal pela primeira vez, mandei um email a solicitar uma conversa no final do concerto e ele disse logo que sim. Até me assinou logo vários vinis que tenho dele. A partir daí já organizei 3 digressões dele: duas em Portugal (Lisboa, Porto e Alcobaça) e uma em Glasgow (Escócia). Correram sempre todas muito bem! Ele é tudo menos complicado.
