  • you want to get married
    he wants to screw
you know that he's at it
can't say the same about you
    you want him to listen
but failed to get his thoughts off the cars
    kind a guy
who leaves a dead poet on your cup-board
    flyes back to mars
    you know that
for you there'll be no tomorrow
    praying for a better day
trying to spend the day away
you're 26 but you look so much older
so what will you be like tomorrow
    praying for a better day
trying to spend the day away
    he bought you a record
    called the power of love
    romance in a gutters
god he makes you want to trow up
    so you pray to god
    worship it throught his penis
    his idea of making love
    while he's having his peanuts
all men are pigs you're the venus
you name his son swineard after jesus

When I lived in Estonia and heard this song for the first time, it totally knocked me out, totally international hit material, still one of my favourite songs when I want to get into a better mood, Eplik, you are a genious!

uskumatu, viimati kuulsin seda laulu aastal 2007 ja ei teadnud esitajat, lõpuks täna raadiost kuulsin ja leidsin imekombel.

I don't speak Estonian, but the uploader's comment is obviously 'Vaiko Eplik is the best songwriter in the world'. I still remember the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 when Claire's Birthday came on. You can live a long time between moments as good as that, a very long time.

Imeline, aga samas, ega Eplik ei oskagi midagi peale parima kirjutada. :) Playster3'ga üldse ei nõustu, imo on Eplik lihtsalt geenius.

This band claires birthday, could have become major stars 18 hezrs ago and sold millions of records!
    But they blew it!
They were offered a management deal in 2001 by a British businessman, who had extensive connections with Major record labels in the UK and USA, but the singer, band leader vaiko eplik turned the offer down.
The band were told, that without a proper manager who believed in them, the band would probably si ply dissappesr in couple years, and thats exactly happened!. Its not enough to have talent, and compose good music, if you want make in music business you need a manager who is going make it happen for you. And you need to also have the ability to understand that. These guys, cb tnought they were big stars, but in reality in estonia, they had sold about 1000 records. there egos destroyed the one real chance they had to break out and make it. Sadly this story is all too common. Its mot enough to have talent, u need also to be smsrt.

First thing you have to do is question yourself who owns all the major record labels in the UK and USA (and actually who owns the BIG music business literally everywhere). Then (if you are not totally brainwashed) you will think twice is it worth to sell your soul just to be (literally) a devil puppet. Not even a rich puppet! Just a puppet who's working for a meal.
A contract with so called "major record label" means everything you create and everything you are belongs THEM. They literally own you. You own nothing. Signs and symbols rule the world... i mean all the music videos look the same for a reason. Look at estonian artists music videos who made a deal with major record company lately. All waving hand signs like Metallica or Tupac. All the videos are suddenly full of pyramids, triangles, so called "OK" signs, touching glasses, V-signs... ("victory"? who won what??) "heavy metal fingers"... C'mon... Star? What does star stand for? Just a puppet deceiving people. Some people value artistic freedom. That's the truth.

Vaiko isn't egoistical, if he had been then he would have jumped at that chance to be internationally famous. But he's more interested in making the music he wants to, in the way he wants to, without anyone telling him what to do. His material is so varied in its nature that record company idiots who want to make a nice predictable package out of a band would have had a fit when he suddenly decided to do an album of Brazilian style bossanova acoustic songs. Fortunately he owns his own record company so he could do it, and it was hit in Estonia. He's in complete control and his output is varied in nature but entirely superb in terms of songwriting quality. Not all musicians are desperate for fame. I respect him as an uncompromising artist, who sells plenty of records in his own country. If he'd happened to be British or American he'd be world famous for sure. But he is Estonian, and if he's happy with that then who is anyone to grumble at him? Good luck to him, he's hardly written a bad song in his life and I look forward to him experimenting and developing in whatever way pleases him.

@@RJPaul-px6vt estonias populaation is only ca million, if our little million population starts creating in english, its not much good for the english, but its a major loss for estonia. at least thats the conclusion eplik reached ca 2005 i think. so he mainly writes in estonian now.
which is a shame in a way, for the international music community, because so many people will miss out on this little miracle called vaiko eplik, and all his merry co-creators in estonia, but a blessing for local estonians who get to hear great native language songs.

@@mjfan653 Thanks for your informative reply. I guess it is a dilemma for musicians whether to go international or not. I respect him for deciding to sing in Estonian. I listen to bands from all sorts of countries but at the end of the day if the music is great it doesn't matter if I can't understand the words! Your country fascinates me and I really look forward to visiting one day. Best wishes from Tokyo!
